Sunrisers Hyderabad head coach Daniel Vettori made it clear that the team won't use their extended break as an excuse ahead of their clash against Lucknow Super Giants on May 19. While both teams return after the break, SRH will play for pride, and LSG will fight to keep their fading playoff hopes alive.
00:00Well, one team will lose momentum, one team will gain it, depending on who wins tomorrow.
00:05But I think, I mean, it's twofold, it's the fact that it's a long tournament and that
00:10guys have been training hard and they've been working exceptionally well, so a small break
00:14shouldn't affect performance at all.
00:17I think guys will come in fresh, excited to be back and ready to, I suppose, compete.
00:22So I think there'll be no excuses in terms of a break, it'll be guys coming back ready
00:27to go at it.
00:29And when the tournament began, it was such a hype, I know, after that, suddenly the team
00:37has come to such a, what do you want to do to do?
00:40I think I've said on a number of occasions that we just haven't been able to put together
00:44complete performances and we've let ourselves down with one discipline probably in every
00:49game, whether it's bad ball or field, and so we reflect on that and probably our most complete
00:56bowling and fielding performance was the last game against Delhi and unfortunately it was
00:59rained out.
01:00So that's been the conversations within the team, within the coaching staff around how
01:05do we actually put a complete performance together and so that's the real challenge for us in
01:10the next three games.
01:11I think it's a strategy that every team employs, it's a power play, there's two fields out, and
01:15particularly when you play on surfaces like Hyderabad, you know that you need a big score and the surface is probably slightly different to what we anticipated, but the aggressive players, you know, it's a big
01:27players, it's consistent throughout the tournament from every team, it's managing post power play that probably
01:32sometimes has made us come a little unstuck, but we know we need big scores because teams are going to be so aggressive against us with the bat as well.
01:34Hi Guy.
01:35Hi Guy.
01:36Hi Guy.
01:37Could you just talk about the video of Travis for the morning?
01:38Travis is coming in tomorrow morning.
01:39He was delayed.
01:40He was delayed.
01:41He was delayed.
01:42He actually had covid so he couldn't travel, so he couldn't travel so he wasn't nervous, he couldn't travel.
01:50You need to put a lot of time or be at the moment, but I don't know why the team made it so hard so he couldn't travel.
02:01What was the opportunity of Travis for the morning?
02:03He was delayed.
02:06he was delayed he had he actually had covered so he couldn't he couldn't
02:10travel so he'll get in tomorrow morning and we'll assess how he is after that
02:20so against Delhi, the team was asked to us knock out, we needed a lot of things to go their way
02:25but in fact that he played the pressure was off their shoulders
02:29who was that sir?
02:30I think we got a good wicket to bowl on I think that's that's the starting point I think Pat was exceptional
02:53taking the wicket first ball the surface was slow and sticky and so it was a great toss to win and
02:59then our bowlers stood up but I thought our fielding in that game was exceptional and that's
03:04what we talked about as a group that we felt we'd let ourselves down in the field and so to see some
03:11some great fielding we made a couple of changes obviously Ishan coming into keeping and
03:16and Klaassen going into the field so tried to rejig it a little bit through that
03:21but that that was the most pleasing thing was our fielding and the fact that
03:24the bowls on the surface that suited them did an amazing job
