00:21Demonstrators called for the implementation of an eco-tax so that tourists can contribute
00:24to the preservation of the environment and the urge for housing purchases by non-residents
00:29be regulated.
00:30According to the Canary Islands Statistics Institute, in 2024, the islands got 18 million visitors.
00:36However, local residents say such influx does not translate into benefits, but has provoked
00:41housing prices to skyrocket.
