00:00They got the season underway on a Friday, but today is really the unveiling of the year.
00:05The NBA actually laid out for the league today, which is incredible.
00:09You have ABC getting the two biggest games you could possibly have.
00:16The biggest star in the biggest game.
00:17I mean, but, JY, the thing is, right, like, Liberty Aces is like, oh, those are the two best teams, right?
00:22Typically, that's the idea.
00:24Fever Sky very consistently last year showed to you that that was the biggest game that they could consistently play.
00:29Like, and that is what we are getting today.
00:31So that is an A++, even if you want to be like, I don't like that the season didn't begin today, that's fine.
00:37A++ job out of the W for what we are, what we have on tap today and through these games.
00:45And we're going to do some whip-arounds and things like that.
00:48But I'm really, really excited for this season.
00:51I mean, it's just storyline after storyline after storyline.
00:54And, again, the thing that I mentioned off the top, JY, which is a little bit newer, just in recent years, what feels like a more open title race than Aces or Liberty pick your team.
01:07Yeah, I think what the WNBA did a couple of years ago is they tried to create the Lakers-Celtics dynasty where East, First, West, Vegas, New York.
01:17And it worked.
01:19But then Kaitlin Clark came into the league last year, and she blew the whole thing up in regards to the fact that the highest-rated games all involved Kaitlin Clark.
01:27So, to me, what you have now is a league that is finally at the point where they can really make their move.
01:35And they were very strategic.
01:37Now, Kevin and I have knocked it, WNBA, for as long as I've been on his network, for how they do scheduling, how they do all the things.
01:44They actually got it right at least to start this season.
01:48And what's amazing to me, Tom, is you look at the four teams.
01:53And it's four teams for four different ways, right?
01:56New York finally went to title after 25 years.
01:58Vegas is a team that was the top team.
02:01And then they make a big move.
02:02You know, obviously getting rid of Kelsey Blum, getting into a reward.
02:06You know, the best coach maybe in the history of the league in Cheryl Reeve tries to run it back with all five starters of Minnesota.
02:12And then there's Indiana, a team that was fantastic the second half of the year, right?
02:19Then they go out.
02:20They get one of the top three coaches in the world.
02:22In case you don't know, it's going to be obviously Cheryl Reeve is going to be one, Becky Hammond two, Stephanie White three, right?
02:28The third best, one of the three best coaches in the world, the WNBA, to go there.
02:32Then you go take Kaitlin Clark and Aaliyah Boston, two young players,
02:35and you surround them with Natasha Howard and Dewana Bonner, two seasoned veterans.
02:40Dewana Bonner is one of the toughest players in the league.
02:42She's not scared at the moment or no one.
02:44And then you go get Sophie Cunningham off the bench.
02:47Oh, by the way, you re-signed Kelsey Mitchell.
02:49So now you look at a team like Indiana where you have the face of the league with a now-a-team, Tom,
02:55that could actually be a serious contender for a WNBA championship.
