00:35They were able to break, that was around 1223 a.m.

00:39They were able to break open a door.

00:42There was a corrections monitoring technician in the pod module to be watching that.

00:49They were still able to exit the jail about 1 on 1 a.m.

00:53After breaching a wall behind a toilet in the jail and based on video surveillance,

00:59they were seeing exiting a door on the docks where we normally bring in supplies,

01:04scaling a wall and running across the interstate shortly thereafter.

01:09We have indication that these detainees received assistance in their escape from individuals inside of our department

01:16and the escape was discovered during a routine head count at 8.30 a.m. this morning.

01:22We do acknowledge there is no way people can get out of this facility without there being some type of lapse in security.

01:36There's no way.

01:38It's almost impossible, not completely, but almost impossible for anybody to get out of this facility without help from the outside.

01:45We intend to find out exactly what happened.

01:52There are deficiencies in these facilities that cause public safety concerns.

01:59I need to confirm that Kendall Miles is in custody.

02:15He is being rebooked for simple escape as well.

02:18OPSO deputies found him hiding beneath the car at the Hotel Monte Leon parking garage,

02:24and he was transported to OJC by the Louisiana State Police.

02:28We also need to acknowledge that Keith Lewis, who was previously reported as an escape detainee,

02:34was in a different cell.

02:36So he had been moved, but it had not been updated.

02:39So he is not on the run.

02:41There were 10, not 11, and he is in our facility and did not try to escape.

02:48The remaining individuals are being actively pursued, and our deputies, in collaboration with local and state law enforcement,

02:56are working tirelessly to locate and return them to custody.
