Last night at Altitude in Denver, the Nuggets, with their season on the brink,
00:05
back home trying to hold off the Oklahoma City Thunder
00:08
from appearing in the Western Conference Finals.
00:11
Just one win away from heading back to the Conference Finals round
00:14
for the first time since 2016.
00:17
And the oddsmakers, DRS, thought Oklahoma City would do that even away from home.
00:23
A five-point favorite as we got ready for game number six and a total at 216.
00:28
However, most of the public, nearly 70% of the bets on the spread,
00:34
backing the home underdog, had the last laugh.
00:37
As Denver, as the dog, wins outright by double digits, 119-107 as that five-point home dog.
00:45
And a total of 216, slightly pushes to the over.
00:51
Denver keeps this series and its season alive with a double-digit win
00:56
on its home floor in game number six.
00:59
Only one game got real wacky.
01:01
That was game number two where the Denver Nuggets, just off that adrenaline from game number one,
01:05
just ran out of gas.
01:06
But ever since, back and forth, it's been entertainment.
01:08
It's been superstar, going after superstar.
01:10
It's been SGA saying, I can't score more than 34 points.
01:13
Doing that again last night.
01:14
It's Nicola Jokic saying, okay, some of my assist numbers are down,
01:17
but I'm still going to crank up the points here.
01:19
I'm still going to get the rebounds.
01:20
And also Jamal Mary having one of those flu games where it almost ruined it, Ben.
01:24
Like you saw the reports coming out before the game.
01:25
Like, hey, he's got an illness, which again happens.
01:28
You're human.
01:28
You never can't pick and choose when you get sickness.
01:31
But then he wouldn't come out for warm-ups.
01:33
It's like, is he even going to be able to play?
01:35
And that's going to ruin the atmosphere tonight.
01:37
And Oklahoma City is going to walk into the Western Conference Finals.
01:39
And he was great.
01:40
He gave everything he could possibly give.
01:42
42 minutes, man.
01:44
Leaving it out there on your home court in an elimination game to advance in the game number seven.
01:48
Now the question is going to be, is that sickness going to linger and that he ran out of gas last night
01:52
and now he's just playing on fumes for game number seven?
01:54
That'll be food for discussion a little bit later.
01:56
But I was so impressed with the Denver Nuggets win again, Ben.
01:59
It was starting to go off the rails where Oklahoma City was the better basketball team in the second quarter,
02:03
looking to go up double digits at the break and really break the spirit of the Denver Nuggets.
02:08
And that didn't happen.
02:09
They closed on a late run.
02:10
They took control in the second half, as you should at altitude.
02:13
They played great basketball all the way through.
02:15
Christian Brown stepping up in big moments just to give his team a lift.
02:19
I loved what I saw out of the Nuggets.
02:20
But are we really surprised?
02:22
Like, was this supposed to be a gentleman's sweep or a sweep for the Denver Nuggets with all of that talent?
02:26
And understand this, too.
02:27
Hey, man, maybe the Denver front office here made the right moves, firing your head coach,
02:32
firing the general manager, and they're a game away from the Western Conference Finals?
02:36
Impressive.
02:37
Impressive.
