As famine looms in Gaza, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio says Washington is open to alternatives after a US-Israel aid plan was slammed by critics and rejected by the UN. Speaking from Turkey, Rubio emphasized concern for Gaza’s civilians, calling for solutions that bypass Hamas. The new Geneva-based Gaza Humanitarian Foundation plans to deliver 300 million meals, but little is known about it. The UN insists its impartial system remains the best route. Meanwhile, Netanyahu prepares a new offensive and reiterates a firm stance on Hamas’ elimination.

00:00Well, let me just say, I spoke to the Prime Minister today of Israel.
00:20I know the President's been in contact with him earlier this week.
00:23The President talked about this in a speech the other day,
00:26that the people of Gaza deserve a better future than what they've had under Hamas.
00:30We think that the elimination of Hamas is what achieves peace.
00:34We're troubled by the humanitarian situation there.
00:36Both the Israelis, with American backing and support,
00:40have offered a plan to deliver aid that doesn't get diverted or stolen by Hamas.
00:45I've heard criticisms of that plan.
00:47We're open to an alternative if someone has a better one.
00:50But we are for all the aid we can get without Hamas being able to steal it from people.
