Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has criticized plans announced by the military
00:07
to implement daily tactical pauses to facilitate deliveries of aid into Gaza.
00:16
The army said the pauses, designed to allow trucks to reach the Kerem Shalom crossing,
00:21
would take place every day until further notice.
00:25
But one Israeli official said that Netanyahu had made it clear to his military secretary
00:29
that the pauses were unacceptable to him.
00:36
This dispute is the latest in a string of clashes between members of Netanyahu's coalition
00:40
and the military over how the war is conducted.
00:45
It comes a week after centrist former General Benny Gantz quit the government, saying Netanyahu
00:50
had no effective strategy in Gaza.
00:56
Netanyahu is also facing criticism from regular Israelis.
01:01
They accuse his government of not doing enough to secure the release of the hostages being
01:05
held by Hamas in Gaza.
01:08
They have held weekly protests in Tel Aviv, demanding Netanyahu call fresh elections and
01:13
step down.
01:15
Meanwhile, at least nine people, including five children, were killed in an Israeli airstrike
01:20
on the Berej camp in central Gaza on Sunday.
01:24
That airstrike came as Muslims started marking the major Eid al-Adha holiday.
01:29
The Israeli military operation in Gaza has so far killed over 37,000 Palestinians.
01:36
But the Hamas-controlled health ministry doesn't differentiate between civilians and combatants
01:40
in its count.
