More than six months on from the arson attack that gutted the Adass Isreal Synagogue in Melbourne’s southeast investigators have released images of those responsible. No arrests have been made yet over the firebombing that shocked the Jewish community and the wider public. But police believe the car used in the attack had previously been used in other serious crimes in Melbourne.

00:20Police had now linked the stolen Golf sedan to a series of other violent crimes across
00:24Melbourne in the weeks before the synagogue attack.
00:28Police believe this car was used as what I would describe as a communal crime car and
00:34has been driven to a number of locations committing serious offences.
00:39Including a shooting and arson attack in Bandura on the same night of the synagogue attack and
00:45the alleged arson attack on the Lux nightclub in South Yarra in November, for which two
00:50men in their twenties were arrested today.
00:52There's nothing at this time to indicate the two men we've arrested today were directly
00:58involved in the synagogue fire.

01:28It's quite confronting and distressing to see the images released today.
01:31Police feel very confident that they're moving in the right direction.
01:34They are chucking a huge amount of resources out at this investigation.

01:48who planned it and why.
01:50For the offenders out there, I remind you that the penalty for terrorism is life imprisonment.
