00:00the Edmonton Oilers put on the performance that the Toronto Maple Leafs wished they would have

00:11as the Oilers are now off to the Western Conference Finals gonna say second round that's not it

00:16they're off to the Western Conference Final the NHL's Final Four after a fantastic performance

00:22and that is winning hockey and I will again we talked about this the other day I was hard on

00:28the Oilers I have been hard on the Oilers I did a video about how the Oilers were ruining Connor

00:34McDavid so this is certainly not coming from Oilers fandom or anything like that but you gotta call it

00:40like you see it and that was every cliche you want to put in whether you want to talk about winning

00:45hockey or playoff style hockey or whatever it is when it came down to winning time the Edmonton

00:51Oilers did exactly what they needed to do and kudos to them for being able to do that and look

00:58we when you put out that top six as your defensive unit you're not going to be winning the overall

01:07battle a whole lot on the NHL video game but that was one of the better defensive performances we

01:12have seen from the Oilers in a very long time and the fact that it's coming without Ekholm

01:15it was a complete team effort what they were able to do against a really good Vegas Golden Knights team

01:21not a Golden Knights team that we are used to from years past or anything like that but from a very

01:27very good Vegas Golden Knights team to be able to shut them down and play that defensive style

01:31was great certainly not a strength of theirs but a great job in being able to do that and then the

01:37chances start to open up and you could see that that was the style of game that they were more

01:42comfortable in right like we talked about in the UFC breakdown from earlier today if you watch

01:49everything um they're the Jack Dell and Madelena against Bilal Muhammad fight where both guys fought

01:55at the other style and did pretty well but then one did a little bit better at keeping it their own

02:00style and that's kind of what this game was where the Oilers I thought did really well in the defensive

02:05battle that the Vegas Golden Knights kind of dragged them into in this game but then also when it came

02:11down to the flying around like Vegas did pretty good in that part but Edmonton was just so much

02:17better when it came to creating all those opportunities and stuff like that so when this

02:21game finally opens up in the third period you can really see where this team starts to shine and they

02:27would start to take over and start to take over and then eventually they are able to break their way

02:32through and so being able to play that fast-paced high scoring style while also being able to play the

02:38playoff style of hockey that everyone talks about it is it's really impressive and again I didn't see

02:45this coming it is such a dramatic turnaround from where they were at the end of the Kings series not

02:50at the end of the Kings series at the beginning of the Kings series where they're down to nothing

02:54they made that comeback in game one but aside from that like they got dummied in that game to now

02:59being able to switch it on and be this complete hockey team is really impressive and the other

03:06aspect of this that I think has to give Oilers fans a lot of confidence is whatever was bothering

03:12Stewart Skinner appears to have been figured out not that he stole them this game or anything of the

03:18sort but he was everything they needed him to be it is back-to-back shutouts to close out a playoff

03:24series which I don't think anybody saw coming so there is a lot that I think that Oilers fans can be

03:29excited about but this is feeling a little bit like last season where they had to pull Skinner

03:35um was that that was the second round too wasn't it I guess this one was kind of part of the first

03:39but they pull Skinner he has to come back in for whatever reason and now he has got back into his

03:45groove and he has figured it out it really does seem like that this team is in a very good and

03:51obviously they're in a good spot they're one of the final four they are eight wins away from the

03:55Stanley Cup so obviously they're in a very very good spot right now uh thank you guys so much for

04:01hanging out and watching today we'll get to the Vegas aspect of this in just a sec but do want to

04:33Knights now this team is always aggressive when it comes to to roster construction and I would

04:38assume they are going to be again this year they have a decent amount of cap space to make a bit of

04:44a push and they need some scoring if they want to hang here in the Pacific I think the Kings are going

04:50to probably be aggressive as well I think the Flames are obviously on the come up and depending on the

04:56reports that you believe are going to be aggressive and um obviously the Oilers are here to stay so

05:03there is a lot that I think you have to look at from a Vegas standpoint and we're going to do

05:07off-season previews I thought it was going to be this week it might move to next week now but we're

05:11going to be doing off-season previews for some of these teams and when you're looking at it

05:14goal scoring is the thing like this team defensively is good Aiden Hill is I don't know like he is not

05:21upper echelon but he is good he want to miss down the cup and is good enough that it is not a problem

05:27you have to solve right now so if they can go out get some scoring help for Eichel I think they need

05:32some high-end scoring and I do think a little bit more in the depth would help out as well but this

05:38is a team that obviously is going to be aggressive they are going to be creative and I think they are

05:42licking their chops at the situations that are happening in Canada quite frankly when you are looking

05:47at what is going on with Mitch Marner when you are looking at what is going on with Brock Besser

05:51you can really see how this whole off-season could take shape in a Vegas Golden Knights sort of a way

05:59so definitely a team that you need to watch out for when it comes to the um the off-season and we'll

06:06be looking at the off-season like I said thought it might be this week but it'll be next week
