Transcript
00:00Jimmy, congratulations on becoming the new mayor of Skegness. How does it feel?
00:22Oh, it feels absolutely fantastic. It's a huge honour, really. I've lived in the area for many,
00:28many years since I was, you know, primary school. So it's fantastic to represent the town,
00:35really, and it is a great honour. You're following in the footsteps of your brother
00:38as well, aren't you, who has been mayor? Yes, I am, yes.
00:44What are you looking forward to most? I'm a people person, to be honest. I love people.
00:52I love going out to, you know, all the events, just having a good chat with people, finding out
00:58all about the charities they're doing, the events they're doing. It's absolutely fantastic.
01:03I've loved it being the deputy mayor, going to various events. It's fantastic.
01:08Yeah, I have met you on a few of those, haven't I? And I can see you're having a good time.
01:12I think the last time we were out together was at the Scare Island, Fantasy Island.
01:20Yeah, yeah. No, that was interesting. Yes.
01:24I weren't keen on that, but yeah.
01:27Yeah, but you like taking part in it. Now, obviously, there's a serious side to the role
01:32as well, you know. What challenges do you think you're going to be facing this year?
01:37I think there's quite a few challenges, to be honest. Obviously, it's like the cost of living
01:48crisis. People can't really afford anything at the moment. It is really tough for people.
01:54So yeah, I'm not expecting a few things, but we're going to try and do the best we can
01:58to support people as much as we can, to be honest.
02:02So you're looking forward to this year?
02:04It goes head on. I'll be straight in there, loving it.
