00:00It's been a long journey from Sparrow County to the town hall, and what it set up earlier
00:27I knew it was going to be this far, but seven, six years is a long time.
00:33I was pleased to be a county district councillor, and along with my wife Heather, who was the mayoress in 2005,
00:43we were honoured to be the mayor and mayoress.
00:47One of the main reasons I particularly feel honoured, because when I look at the boards over here,
00:55and I see one of my mentors up there, and it was councillor Harold Fainwright, who's been mayor three times.
01:03He is the natural fact, I've been involved for a long time now, many, many years,
01:11and he's the hardest working councillor in living memory.
01:16He never stopped working, challenging, campaigns, new walks, new this, knew everything.
01:24It was on that basis that when I became a councillor, if I wasn't channelling, challenging,
01:30and working forward policies, I wasn't doing my job, because that's what Harold Fainwright did all the time.
01:37He was the actual original, as far as I'm concerned, and missed escape next.
01:42So, you know, I thank you, Mr Mayor.
