Tina Fey and Colman Domingo can do it all—from writing to acting to producing, and now painting. The stars of 'The Four Seasons' put their creativity to the test answering a series of questions as they attempt to create Louvre-worthy portraits of each other. While Colman admits he was nervous to meet Tina for the first time, and Tina could hardly believe he was actually signing on to the show, the two quickly bonded over their Philly roots (water ice and soft pretzels included). Here, watch as they chat creative outlets, swap vacation stories, and reveal their final works of art.

00:00Hi, I'm Tina Fey.
00:01And I'm Colman Domingo.
00:02And this is Portrait Mode with Harper's Bazaar.
00:08I think I'm going to do terribly.
00:11I feel like I'm going to put a lot of pressure on myself
00:13to do a good job, and I'm not going to live up
00:15to what I want it to be.
00:17I just want to get Tina's hair right,
00:18because I think she's got the most beautiful hair
00:20in the business.
00:21Thank you, Colman.
00:22So I'm going for the hair.
00:23OK.
00:23It might be a little head.
00:24I don't know what else.
00:25It's a very tiny head.
00:27It's the tiniest head in showbiz.
00:30Everything I've ever learned out the window.
00:36I wish I was good at painting, because I think
00:38it is a good creative outlet.
00:40And I hate that I have to do writing,
00:42because writing is torture.
00:45But what is fun is having written something,
00:48not the part where you have to get it out.
00:49Colman, would you agree?
00:51When I write, I feel like it's my most personal,
00:53even more than being an actor.
00:55I feel like, oh, that's really me.
00:56That's what I think.
00:57Oh, look at that.
00:58I've already made a color mess here in the play.
01:01Well, that's good.
01:02I need a teeny little brush to do lashes.
01:04Or I could peel off the fake lashes I currently have on
01:07and stick them on this painting.
01:08Ah!
01:12Colman, what was your first impression of Tina?
01:14I was a little nervous, because I was like,
01:16I love Tina, and I hope she likes me,
01:19because I admired her work as a writer, as an actor,
01:22as a producer.
01:22And I'm like, she's created some of the most incredible shows
01:25on television, and so I was actually just geeked out.
01:28And then you got out of the car so casual.
01:30You had a baseball cap on.
01:31Oh, yeah.
01:32I remember feeling like, oh, I look like hell.
01:35I look like hell.
01:36There wasn't a lot of pomp and circumstance about it.
01:38Oh, no.
01:38I thought you got out of an Uber comfort or something.
01:41Yeah.
01:42I was like, look at her.
01:43Atta, girl.
01:44It was an Uber share.
01:47Take regular Uber.
01:48It was an Uber share.
01:49Maybe it was a Uber share.
01:50Maybe four of the people in the car.
01:52Like a hot small ambulance or whatever.
01:57But I was just like, oh, she's really cool.
01:59And we sat there, and it just felt like natural and very easy.
02:03That's nice.
02:03Because I think even as we keep getting to know each other,
02:06we find out we have so many references and things we love
02:09and things that I think we're made up of, you know?
02:11Yeah.
02:12Like water ice and soft pretzels or something.
02:13Water ice, water ice and soft pretzels.
02:15Water ice.
02:16Sure.
02:18Tina, what was your first impression of Coleman?
02:21Well, when I first met him in real life,
02:24we had a meeting to talk about doing this.
02:26And we met at the Chelsea Hotel.
02:28I thought he was really handsome, and I still think so.
02:32And I just was like, I cannot believe Coleman Domingo
02:35might agree to do this program.
02:37But I also found him to be very easy to talk to
02:40and very, like, warm and welcoming, you know?
02:43And I also love, like, every so often when I hear Tina speak,
02:46there's something she says that sounds so Philly,
02:47and I'm like, home.
02:49Yeah, especially if I'm a little tired.
02:50Do you get more Philly when you're tired?
02:52Well, you have probably, like, beautiful theatrical voice
02:54training.
02:55Yeah, but it goes very Philly when I'm tired
02:57or I had an extra tequila.
03:00Oh, yes, yes.
03:04No, this is terrible.
03:05Hold on one second.
03:06Coleman, what's the best vacation you've ever taken?
03:09Me and my husband, we love going to, like, really
03:11off-kilter places.
03:12And so we went to Easter Island.
03:15What?
03:15You got to go from LA to Atlanta, from Atlanta
03:19to Santiago, Chile, stay overnight,
03:20and then fly five more hours into the middle of the Pacific.
03:24And it was the most amazing thing to see the Malay.
03:28And to really just be with very unique people,
03:31it was just great.
03:32That's cool.
03:32I got to give more shape to your face.
03:34Your face is small.
03:35It's really small, and it's a little bit pointy.
03:38And the mouth is so small.
03:39I gave you a bigger mouth, because that's the way I see you.
03:42You see me as a big mouth.
03:43I like that.
03:44I'm getting really cocky here,
03:46and I'm trying to try to do, like, a highlight.
03:47Ooh, all right.
03:48I'm kind of happy with this.
03:49I gave you a neck.
03:50OK, yes, I see that.
03:51Yes, I see it.
03:52Come through, neck.
03:53You gave me a neck.
03:54That would be a gift.
03:57Don't say I never gave you nothing.
03:59Just to counterbalance the trip to Easter Island,
04:01I'm going to say the Jersey Shore.
04:03Really?
04:04Just because I have a lot of happy memories
04:05of going to the Jersey Shore with my whole family.
04:10I gave you too much curl.
04:11I'm going to straighten this hair out a little bit.
04:12That's true.
04:13Calm this hair down just a little bit.
04:15Pullman, how does Danny's vacation style
04:17compare with your own?
04:18Very similar.
04:21Which made me think, is Tina reading my journal?
04:23Because I love, and my husband knows this,
04:26because he likes to do, like, very nature-y things,
04:28and go and protect turtles in Costa Rica with no lights on
04:32and stuff like that.
04:33And I'm like, I'm not down with that.
04:34I'm like, I'll see you at the Four Seasons.
04:37Yeah.
04:38Because I like you.
04:39Listen, I come from a very humble place.
04:40I'm from inner city of West Philadelphia.
04:42And you know what?
04:43I'm not really one for the elements.
04:44I like a nice five-star treatment.
04:46Yeah.
04:46I love spas, and I love that journey for myself.
04:49Yes, I love that journey for you as well.
04:50I think that's what Harriet and Sojourner
04:52will want for me.
04:53Yes, absolutely.
04:54She does not want you sleeping on a mattress that
04:57smells like a cold sidewalk.
04:58Yes, certain things I didn't have to act.
05:00I was like, oh, no, that's really something I understand.
05:02I would not want the yurt situation.
05:04Mm-mm.
05:04Walking and just seeing there's, like, no AC,
05:07Jeff, my husband, would be out.
05:08Oh, yeah, Jeff is like me.
05:10He needs his AC.
05:12No, if I don't get this hair right,
05:13it's going to look like you're balding.
05:15You are not balding.
05:16Oh, no, see, I've done what people do on cooking shows
05:19where they go, like, one more step,
05:21and that's where they bone it.
05:24Tina, what will fans of the original Four Seasons
05:27love about this show?
05:28That they're still alive.
05:32Hopefully that we kept the spirit and the tone
05:35of the original a similar vibe while still being new.
05:39Okay, that's close.
05:40Oh, look at that.
05:41I'm getting a little more impressionistic.
05:43That said.
05:45All right, I'm out.
05:46Ooh, big money, big money.
05:48Big money.
05:50Your barber is going to come for me.
05:52Whoever, you're going to be like,
05:53uh, that's not Coleman's hair.
05:55I didn't get my hair cut in a couple weeks,
05:56so they're like, yeah, that's what it looks like.
06:02Would you get it?
06:03Yes, I like it.
06:05That is one jawline.
06:06Say that's a jawline, little lips.
06:08You got the earring.
06:09That's so cute.
06:10I did your earring.
06:11I got your little mole, tiny little mole.
06:12Oh, you got my little mole.
06:13Nobody ever gets that.
06:14I thought it would be more artistic and sort of,
06:16like, Picasso-y to use blue to do the outlining.
06:20I focused on the eyes, because I think of Coleman's eyes
06:23most when I think of looking at him and talking to him.
06:25And where I messed up when I said,
06:27oh, I've gone one bridge too far,
06:28is when I tried to stipple in his hair.
06:31And then that got away from me.
06:33And I don't know what that is.
06:35Well, I decided to go a bit more naturalistic, I think.
06:39I always think you have the most beautiful hair.
06:41And I commented on it even when I saw you
06:43when we started our press tour,
06:44and I felt like, your hair's so beautiful.
06:46Maybe that's what my focus was, was like,
06:48oh, it's all, look at the beautiful hair,
06:50eyes, a little blusher for cheek, and then a nice red lip.
06:54Who doesn't like a red lip?
06:55Who doesn't?
06:56I think also the expression on my face is like, right?
07:00It's kind of Mona Lisa.
07:00Because it's kind of like, did we do it?
07:02It's just, your resting face is like, chill.
07:08And then, yeah, that's it.
07:08Chill, everybody.
07:09It's in fact.
07:10Thank you so much for watching.
07:12And be sure to watch the four seasons only on Netflix.
07:32Bye.
07:33Bye.
07:33Bye.
07:36Bye.
