00:00And especially for Conan here, we'll be hoping for another lightning start as MXGP Moto No. 2 gets underway.
00:07The 15-second board is now up. Final preparations for the riders.
00:12It's drying out, but the start is still absolutely crucial.
00:16It's tough. It's gnarly out there. Five-second board goes up.
00:23And here we go. MXGP Moto No. 2 gets underway.
00:27A blistering start once again from Lucas Cogna, but look at Vendro around the outside.
00:32Neck and neck into the second corner. Vlandra has gone away well also.
00:36Fernandes fourth, Maxime Renault with another lightning start.
00:40He had to fight his way through Moto No. 1.
00:43And he's still there in fourth place. Maxime Renault, remember, took a big tumble at Switzerland last time out.
00:49The initial press report said he wasn't going to be racing here this weekend, but a late fitness test.
00:55And he's fitting to ride, and he's gone away very well once again.
00:58Carvan Vlandra with a good start.
01:00Fernandes still there in third.
01:03They all make their way through.
01:10There's Renault down the inside through the wet inside line as they make their way through at the end of the first half lap.
01:16But look at that from Lucas Cogna. Brilliant start for him. Febvre still second.
01:20The fight on for third position as they make their way past the pits for the first time.
01:25And Lucas Cogna just slowly starting to break away here.
01:39Febvre, this is much a repeat of Moto No. 1 here. Febvre still in second place looking to tag on here.
01:44So he was saying he was looking to bag the points in Moto No. 1, but again, the overall result could be on for him here.
01:52Fernandes in third, Vlandra in fourth. Maxime Renault, Bonacorsi on the Fantic in sixth position.
01:59Oh, and trouble for Brent Vandonek on the JM Honda.
02:05Vandonek out to the points now in its opening lap.
02:08As the leaders make their way through, Cogna just, again, the riders have had the sighting laps.
02:13They've had the chance to look at the circuit, but a very different track from Moto No. 1.
02:18It has dried out despite the rain shower that we saw about half an hour ago.
02:23Look how gnarly those ruts are though as they make their way through that inside line getting very deep indeed.
02:28You'll see the riders paddling their way through because the bike sinks so deep into the ruts.
02:32They need to paddle their way through, keep the momentum going.
02:38And, oh, that's trouble for Maxime Renault.
02:41So he's, um, he's had a mixed weekend.
02:44He's had some good comebacks, but dropping the bike on that first lap, I believe he's in the midfield.
02:48That 13th position with Ben Watson and Mathieu Guadnini.
02:53Good to see Brian Bogers back in action.
02:55He finished the first moto, gone in the points, but took a nasty splote.
02:58He called it a spill.
02:59He just got cross-rutted and the bike got pulled from his grasp.
03:03It seemed to hurt his wrist in the process, but he's back out there.
03:06And he is currently on the edge of the top 10.
03:10There's Jeffrey Hurlings, 7th place.
03:12Good start for him.
03:13Remember that Hurlings yesterday took a tumble in the qualifying race.
03:17Got cross-rutted, crashed on one of the downhill jumps.
03:20And an unsighted Romain Febvre, too late, the marshals had the flags out, but it was simply too late Febvre to avoid him, crashed into the side of him.
03:29And Hurlings picking up a broken rib in the process.
03:32So that's going to compromise his breathing.
03:37He does look a little bit stiff compared to the signature.
03:42Jeffrey Hurlings all-out style, but try riding this sort of track with a broken rib and see how far you get.
03:48He's doing very well indeed.
03:507th position.
03:51He'll have the painkillers, I would say, but fair to say, every time he hits a bump or the bike wrestles away from him, it'll be like being punched in the stomach for him.
04:04There he is.
04:05He's keeping Bogus under pressure.
04:08So Jeffrey Hurlings, that's, uh, Bogus currently just on the edge of the top 10.
04:13There's Bon and Causey in front of him.
04:14So, Hurlings making his way through the waves.
04:18There is Bogus into the pits.
04:20And they're looking at the bike.
04:23Some mechanical trouble for Bogus.
04:25What a shame for him after such a good start to the weekend.
04:29And a good start to Moto1.
04:30Just seems to be falling away from him.
04:31He's in the pits.
04:33If you look closely at that bike when he was in the pit aerial, you may have noticed he was running the foam on the handlebar grips.
04:39I saw a few riders doing that in MX2.
04:41The handlebar grips on these bikes tend to be quite a sticky type of rubber.
04:46Good grip on them, but in the mud, even the foam from preventing the grips from getting clogged with mud if the riders drop the machine.
04:55There we saw Seymour, a good save for him on the Ducati.
04:57He just got washed out on the inside by a rut.
05:01And back at the front here, so Roman Fevre is proving good to his word here.
05:06He said in the pre-race interview that in Moto1 he decided in the end to circulate in second, bag the points.
05:17But he didn't sound too comfortable with that.
05:20He was saying that he still wants to try and fight for the victory here.
05:22And his main compatriot for the victory today, Lucas Koenern, looking strong at the front of the field and making life difficult in favor.
05:31Just looking a little bit further back as another one of the Yamaha's goes down.
05:40I think that may have been Carl van Vlaanderen.
05:44The Dutchman getting back underway.
05:46I think he has still stayed towards the front of the field.
05:48So in the early stages of MXGP Moto2, current of Leeds.
05:54Roman Fevre keeping that pressure on in second position.
05:57Very much a case of youth versus experience here.
06:02The 18-year-old Lucas Koenern, the 33-year-old Roman Fevre.
06:10He's taken one Grand Prix victory this year.
06:1322 wins for Fevre, which puts him level with Sten London, Rob Timplin and the great Dave Thorpe.
06:20He'll be hoping to add a 23rd to his impressive career.
06:27He'll actually put him level with the likes of Harry Everts.
06:32Grandfather, of course, of Liam Everts, MXGP runner.
06:39He won't be too worried about the record books.
06:42He'll be more interested in getting hold of that red plate.
06:44And he'll be determined to try and keep hold of it as well for the rest of the season.
06:49No indication yet as to when Tim Geisel will be back.
06:53Red plate holder coming into this round.
06:54Fevre at the moment, second on the podium, will take the lead in the title race.
07:00Crucif HRC Honda.
07:02This guy's doing a great job in third here.
07:05Room Fernandes will be third on the podium if things stay as they are.
07:09And looking at the timing charts here, only four seconds behind the race leader.
07:14Fernandes knows here that he's got a very important job to do in terms of the team, you would say.
07:22If he can grab some points, if he can get ahead of Fevre and Kunin, pull those points away from those riders.
07:27He'll protect his team leader in terms of the title race.
07:30So Fernandes running very strong here, only four seconds behind the race leader at this stage.
07:36So he could still potentially could get up there with Fevre.
07:40As we've seen many times today, this brutal lag in a circuit.
07:44Gnarly ruts.
07:45The weather conditions making it a true mudder in the first moto.
07:48It's drying out now, but as you can see, the track is very tough.
07:52Very easy to make a mistake.
07:53You have to say, the rider's doing very well to maintain that pace at the front.
08:04Fernandes just being told to keep it cool.
08:07Calm is the message on the board.
08:09That's what it's all about in conditions like this.
08:12So difficult to keep the momentum going, keep a good pace out there, but avoid making a mistake.
08:20Room Fernandes doing very well at the moment.
08:23Room Fernandes looking for lines here on the downhill section.
08:31Fernandes charging there.
08:32The mistake there from Koenel at the front.
08:35He just went wide out of the berm, looking for a smoother line, but the front wheel washing out on the downhill section.
08:41Nervy moment there for Koenel, but he's recovered well and maintains that gap.
08:441.6 seconds.
08:46Romain Fevre leads the MXGP title race by three points coming into this moto.
08:53So the crucial thing here is for the third place rider, Ruben Fernandes on the HRC Honda.
09:00He's been told to play it cool in third.
09:04He will be desperately keen to try and get in front of Fevre.
09:07At least, if not, get past Koenel.
09:12That's the Red Bull KTM team watcher.
09:14I think Sasha Koenel was in there as well.
09:16Lucas' twin brother who's making waves in MX2.
09:18Took a very impressive result a little earlier on this afternoon.
09:23Koenel brothers really have revitalized belt of motorcross, you would say, along with Iago Geerts a few years ago.
09:30Making waves in MX2, and Geerts, unfortunately for him, of course, he's had the injury troubles, pretty much missed most of the 2024 season.
09:41Still on the injury fight back, but the momentum very much with the Koenels.
09:44For a country steeped in motocross heritage like Belgium, it's been a long time since they've won a world title.
09:52And, oh, a bit of a problem there for Guarnini on the Ducati.
09:56Getting cross-rutted, but saving the bike.
10:01Sven Brueggemann, the last time Belgium was a world champion, back in the now-defunct MX3.
10:06In 2008, Steve Ramon, the last MXGP title winner.
10:11And Belgium, politically, you'd say they've had a hard time.
10:15A lot of tracks have come under closure.
10:19And they've had a very difficult time of things, but a bright new generation coming through, the likes of Iago Geerts.
10:26Again, you see Koenel just negotiating that tricky downhill section.
10:30So, you see the likes of Geerts a few years ago, joined now by Liam Evarts and the Koenen brothers.
10:38And Belgium, once again, fighting at the top in Grand Prix motocross.
10:44Fevera, 2015 champion, knows that the potential is here now to try and grab some vital points and grab a real...
10:52..real bit of advantage here as we head towards the mid-part of the season.
10:56With Tim Geiser, who, at one stage, was looking to really break away in terms of the early MXGP title race,
11:05but that accident last weekend at Switzerland, big tumble when he went to the outside line
11:09and hit the knoll on the outside of the circuit, which spat him off the bike.
11:14Whether he'll be back in Switzerland, in Spain, remains to be seen, of course,
11:18for losing vital points here in Portugal.
11:20Coming up to the halfway point in MXGP, Moto No. 2, and Maxime Renault,
11:35another rider who hit trouble in Switzerland, and...
11:39..did very well in Moto No. 1 to fight through the field.
11:43Currently struggling, he dropped the bike at the start of the Moto, and...
11:50..now going into the top ten, not too far behind Jeremy Seaver, another rider who had a difficult Moto...
11:55..in the end, finishing 15th in Moto No. 1, so I think a repeat at the podium two weeks ago in Switzerland...
12:01..at the moment is out of the question for him, but he's still charging.
12:05And you'll see, if you look closely at Seaver there a moment ago, you'll see the film dragging from the back of his helmet.
12:14So that's awkward for Seaver, because that would indicate that a stone or a piece of mud has broken the canister on his roll-off.
12:21So if you look closely at the riders, you'll see those roll-off canisters on the outside of the goggles.
12:26It's a bit like an old camera film when you have the film on the camera moving along.
12:31Operates in a similar manner, the rider pulls a cord which pulls the acetate film.
12:37Now, if that breaks, it means they've effectively got no goggles, because they can't get the clear vision.
12:43So we might see him having to ditch the goggles later on for Seaver.
12:47No problems of that kind for Lucas Coonan, he's got a clear track in front of him.
12:52But he can't support Relax here, because Roman Febvre is looking to put in a champion's ride and try and snatch the overall from Coonan.
13:01If they tied on points, the results would be drawn from the second moto.
13:05So that would work in Febvre's favour if he were to win this one.
13:09They're pulling away a little bit more now from Fernandes.
13:11The track just started to dry out a bit, but look at those ruts.
13:14Huge, gnarly ruts coming out of the corner.
13:16And on that downhill section, they'd be very easy to lose the front end on those.
13:20Get cross-rutted and tumble off the machine.
13:22And we saw earlier Andrea Adamo looking very good in NXT, but even he had his moments getting a little bit cross-rutted and stuck on some of these deeper ruts.
13:31If you were to walk the track after this race, you would be, I think, at least knee-deep in some of those deeper ruts on the corners.
13:40It's very tough indeed, but Coonan doing very well to hold on to the lead here.
13:43Renault keeping the pressure.
13:45Oh, a bit wild through the ruts there, but saves it, keeps a good flow going through.
13:49And keeping the pressure on Jeremy Seaver in 9th position.
13:52Ben Watson up to 11th place now on the beater, so good ride for him so far.
13:57It's Maxime Renault trying to keep that pressure on.
14:02Josh Gilbert hanging on to the points in 20th position right now, just ahead of his teammate John Adamson in 21st.
14:08As Maxime Renault still keeping that pressure on Jeremy Seaver.
14:12Not too much between them at the moment.
14:13These riders battling for 9th position.
14:16Fernandes still in 3rd, but dropping away from the leaders a little bit now.
14:19Landren on his own in 4th place.
14:20Bonacorsi 5th, Koldenov in 6th, and just ahead of Jeffrey Hurlings, Forzionas.
14:26And then this fight that we are looking at now, the battle for 9th place between Jeremy Seaver on the factory Ducati.
14:31And Maxime Renault on the Monster Energy factory Yamaha.
14:36Both comfortably ahead of Ben Watson at the moment on the factory beater, currently in 11th position.
14:43As they make their way through towards the halfway point of this race.
14:4515 and a half minutes plus the 2 laps remaining, so still plenty of time here to go.
14:51Nothing can be taken for granted here.
14:52Conan looking good.
14:54Lucas Conan looking for his 4th consecutive MotoGP victory.
15:00Adding into that qualifying race yesterday as well.
15:03Still a long way to go in this one.
15:05Jeremy Seaver, done such a good job on the Ducati this year.
15:11Got it onto the podium last time out on virtually his home track in Switzerland.
15:15Not quite the weekend we'd have wanted.
15:20You'll see again that acetate from the roll-off film making life difficult for him.
15:24There's a bit of inventive line choice there from the 24 of Kevin Hawkemo.
15:29Currently in 13th place, going to the extreme inside line, trying to dodge that pub on the inside.
15:34And watch, he's leading the race of course.
15:39Watch Hawkemo now, just seems to be looking for some lines on those previous corners.
15:44Looking for the smoother lines off the racing line.
15:47And look closely at the radiator shroud on that Honda.
15:51It's hanging loose, so the weight of the mud has broken the radiator shroud.
15:55Now that shouldn't affect him too much, although it does mean the radiator is not protected from the roost.
16:01It gets too clogged, the bike running too warm.
16:04Could overheat and, oh dear, there is a little bit of tell-to-tell smoke from the number 24.
16:12So hopefully that won't affect him too much, but if the bike overheats,
16:17could put him out of contention of course.
16:19So Kevin Hawkemo on the motor blues, won't be entered Honda, running very well so far as he battles up to top position.
16:26There's Geoffrey Hurlings.
16:30Currently in 7th position.
16:32He's had a difficult weekend so far, but even for the leader, having his moments there,
16:36Lucas Kornan, the cleanest rider on the track so far.
16:44I didn't see Faber, but I think he is still quite close behind the gap.
16:481.2 seconds on the previous timing loop.
16:51Kornan incidentally fastest lap of the race with a 1.2.13.046 last time around,
16:57so he's maintaining a good pace out there.
16:59Now we are back to sea.
17:00We're just looking closely at the helmet.
17:01You can see the roll-off film and, oh, almost spat off the machine.
17:07There you can see the tell-tale roll-off film from the back of the helmet.
17:10That's going to make a lot of difference for his vision out there.
17:12He's effectively got no goggles.
17:13If he gets roosted, he's got no way of clearing his vision.
17:15Well, I didn't see Faber a moment ago, but he's still very much there.
17:201.6 seconds behind, keeping the pressure on.
17:23So not much action in terms of battling for the front,
17:27but this is a very interesting encounter here because
17:30the young MXGP rookie, Lucas Kornan,
17:35the former champion and MXGP veteran, Romain Febvre,
17:39keeping the pressure on in second place.
17:41Both riders desperately need that win.
17:45Both riders still very much a factor in terms of the MXGP title race.
17:50Febvre, of course, the new red plate holder.
17:53He wants another double race win victory,
18:02but will he be able to deal with the threat of Febvre behind him?
18:07Yeah, of course, he wants another win,
18:10but, yeah, at the moment, the situation here is quite tricky.
18:14It's very difficult to track,
18:15but he showed some good speed already since yesterday
18:19and before first moto.
18:22Now they are battling hard.
18:25Yeah, one guy is faster in one sector,
18:27the other guy is faster in the other sector,
18:29so, yeah, we will see if we can keep Romain
18:31because it's really good.
18:33But I believe in Lucas that he can win.
18:36Lucas is young, Lucas is fearless.
18:38How do you manage his emotions right now?
18:41No, the important thing is to stay calm at the moment.
18:46Of course, when the gate drops,
18:48he always wants to win.
18:51But the main thing in this championship is to be constant,
18:55and then we will see in the middle of the season where we are,
18:59but the goal for sure is the world championship.
19:01Best luck to the team. Thank you.
19:04So, Davide Iqali pleased with the progress of Lucas Gurdon at this stage.
19:08As we look back at the,
19:11just showing how difficult the conditions are,
19:13Kurnan cross-rutting there,
19:14coming out of the corner,
19:15spits him to the left-hand side of the circuit.
19:17We have the momentum,
19:19have the composure to keep the bike pointing straight,
19:21keep it out of the soft stuff,
19:23and maintain that gap at the front.
19:241.8 seconds between him and Febbra in second place.
19:30Going into the second moto,
19:31Kurnan on 262 points in the title race,
19:34so he would stay in third.
19:36But not too far behind the virtual series leader,
19:43Romain Febbra,
19:44and if things stay as they are,
19:45gaining another three points,
19:47so he gained six points on Febbra in the title race.
19:49Fernandes still third overall,
19:50as things stand at the moment.
19:52Bonacorz,
19:53and last year's winner here in Portugal,
19:56Orzionas,
19:57former NXT champion currently,
19:59in fifth position overall,
20:01as things stand at the moment.
20:05These sort of rough, gnarly conditions,
20:07it's why we love motocross.
20:08It's such a tough test for the riders.
20:11Nothing can be taken for granted here.
20:13So easy to make a mistake.
20:14And the riders' skill,
20:16fitness,
20:17composure,
20:18being pushed to the limit here in moto number two,
20:20on this demanding Aguila circuit in Portugal.
20:24Top conditions earlier on today,
20:26it was a real mudder earlier on.
20:27The track crew's working very hard
20:29to make the track rideable.
20:30Start was delayed,
20:31but it's been well worth the wait here.
20:33We've seen some great riding
20:34throughout the MXGP
20:36and the MX2 motos.
20:38And still goes on here
20:39as Carmen Vlaundren
20:40starts to put the pressure back
20:42on Ruben Fernandes
20:43for third position.
20:44Down the hill they go for Fernandes.
20:46A good solid third so far.
20:53Nine and a half minutes,
20:54plus the two laps remaining.
20:57Carmen Vlaundren
20:57keeping that pressure on.
21:01Right hand where he goes,
21:03and chasing hard.
21:04After Fernandes
21:05with a liquid mileage on they go.
21:08This is the battle for third position.
21:14Marjoram through the left-hander.
21:17Another rider who's had
21:18two MXGP wins to his name.
21:21He won in MX2
21:22the Indonesian Grand Prix
21:24back in 2018.
21:26Won in Sardinia
21:27back in 2022.
21:30Seventh in the standings last
21:32on the last year
21:33on the Monster Energy
21:34on the Monster Energy Factory
21:34Yamaha.
21:35And still running strongly so far.
21:37Still being told
21:38to keep pushing here.
21:40Nine minutes,
21:40plus the two laps remaining
21:41for him.
21:42And still keeping Fernandes
21:43under pressure.
21:44So it's the factory Honda
21:45versus the factory Yamaha
21:47for third place.
21:49And Fernandes doing well
21:50to hold on to that third position.
21:54I saw one or two of the spectators
21:56on the banking there
21:57just getting the umbrellas out.
21:58I do wonder if the rain
21:59started to fall once again.
22:00It's been
22:00oscillating between the
22:03sunny weather and rain showers.
22:06Throughout the afternoon
22:06there's a very heavy rain shower
22:07in MX2
22:08motor number two
22:10as we watch Herlings
22:10still handling away
22:12with his old rival here
22:14Glenn Koldenov
22:16on the Fantec.
22:19And Herlings
22:20sweeping through
22:21to go through
22:21to sixth position.
22:25And getting past
22:26one of his old MX2 rivals
22:27of course
22:28back in the days
22:29when Herlings
22:29lit up the MX2
22:30seeing Glenn Koldenov.
22:33It's almost strange
22:34to say that
22:35these riders are veterans
22:36nowadays
22:36there's a new generation
22:37coming through
22:38the rankings from MX2
22:39and these guys
22:40certainly moving
22:41towards the tail end
22:42of their careers.
22:44Jeffrey Herlings
22:44talking to the press
22:46earlier this year
22:47he says that
22:472026
22:49will definitely
22:50be his last year
22:50in MXGP
22:51possibly even 2025
22:53depending on
22:54what the deals
22:55are like for
22:55next season.
22:58Look at this move
22:59from Herlings
22:59on Koldenov
23:00super smooth
23:01down the inside.
23:03Herlings
23:03with that broken rib
23:04but making
23:05a good job
23:06of it so far
23:06getting through
23:07to sixth position.
23:13Speaking of
23:14the next generation
23:15this is the
23:15first round
23:16of the
23:17the first
23:17Grand Prix
23:18round this year
23:19to have the
23:19MXGP Academy
23:20where riders
23:22from the
23:23Yamaha Blue Crew
23:24training scheme
23:25are joined
23:26by some of
23:26the local
23:27federation riders
23:28in a training scheme
23:29from the headline
23:30by John Van der Berg
23:31the two times
23:33world motocross champion
23:34teaching riding technique
23:36and even things
23:39like the media outlets
23:40as well
23:40there's Febvre
23:40making a mistake
23:41you can see
23:42if you look closely
23:43at the camera angles
23:44here you can see
23:44the rain starting
23:45to fall
23:45so it's getting
23:46slippery out there
23:47and catching
23:48even the best of them
23:49out there
23:49Roman Febvre
23:50making a mistake
23:50as he pursues
23:51after Lucas
23:52Conan
23:53the rain is
23:56starting to fall
23:57out here
23:58next generation
24:01riders coming
24:02through
24:02we remember
24:03a few years ago
24:04of course
24:04Andrea Adamo
24:05was a former
24:07winner
24:07in the
24:08Honda 150
24:08European Cup
24:09so
24:12even going to show
24:14these youth
24:14motocross scenes
24:15really bringing
24:16through the next
24:16generation of riders
24:17looking back
24:18to the hole shot
24:18here from
24:19Lucas Conan
24:20another brilliant
24:21hole shot
24:21down the inside
24:24using that inside
24:24line to good
24:25effect
24:25to grab the lead
24:26bit of bar
24:27bagging further
24:27back
24:28you can see
24:28Ben Watson
24:29down the inside
24:29there
24:29didn't get the
24:30best of getaways
24:31but
24:31making some
24:33positions
24:33earlier on
24:34and he's
24:34breaking through
24:35quite nicely
24:35just on the edge
24:36of the top
24:37ten
24:37just seemed
24:40to have
24:41dropped down
24:41a contention
24:41there's
24:43Jeffrey
24:43Hurlings
24:44fighting his
24:44way
24:45oh
24:46down on the
24:47inside
24:47line
24:48they're taking
24:48a tumble
24:48of course
24:49Hurlings
24:49not the first
24:52and I don't
24:52think he'll be
24:53the last rider
24:53to take a tumble
24:54today
24:54so he drops
24:58down to
24:58seventh position
24:59now
24:59and
24:59Colvinoff
25:00back into
25:00sixth
25:01luckily
25:04that was
25:04on his
25:04right-hand
25:05side
25:05I think
25:05I would've
25:05been a bit
25:06more paid
25:06if he had
25:06landed on
25:07the left
25:07on that
25:07rim
25:08but Hurlings
25:08still charging
25:09as the
25:10rain
25:10once again
25:11returns
25:12so the
25:12spectators
25:13have all
25:13got the
25:13umbrellas
25:14out
25:14now
25:14we saw
25:15this in
25:15MXGP
25:16in MX2
25:17moto
25:17number two
25:18with the
25:19second
25:20moto
25:20deluge
25:21didn't affect
25:23the riders
25:24too much
25:24which was
25:24a real
25:25credit
25:25to the
25:26pace
25:26of the
25:26frontrunners
25:27but let's
25:28see what
25:28happens
25:28in MXGP
25:29Lucas
25:30Koernan
25:30who has
25:31looked
25:31in
25:32outstanding
25:33form
25:33over the
25:34last two
25:34Grand Prix
25:35two weeks
25:35ago
25:35in Switzerland
25:36he took
25:37the double
25:38moto
25:38victory
25:38looking to
25:39try and
25:39repeat it
25:40this weekend
25:40here in
25:41Portugal
25:42won the
25:43qualifying moto
25:43yesterday
25:44and like we were
25:48saying in moto
25:48number one
25:49this was a rider
25:49who had some
25:51criticism from the
25:53certain factors in the
25:54press
25:54and certainly
25:55the snake pit of
25:59social media
25:59sometimes
26:00people saying
26:00that he was
26:01too young
26:01to go
26:02to MXGP
26:03was a
26:03wasted move
26:05when he was
26:05second last year
26:06in MX2
26:06why didn't he stay
26:07in another year
26:08and sweep up
26:09and he said
26:10last weekend
26:11it just goes to
26:12show
26:12it's the people
26:13who were saying
26:13I was too young
26:14it was too much
26:15for me
26:15that I can do
26:16it
26:16and you wonder
26:19sometimes if there
26:20is a difference
26:20sometimes to the
26:21rider believing
26:21they can win
26:22and knowing
26:24they can win
26:24well
26:24Conan most definitely
26:25knows he can win
26:26in MXGP
26:27and he has really
26:28strung together
26:29some decent
26:30performances here
26:30they go round the
26:31outside of Josh
26:31Gilbert
26:32who is in 19th
26:33position
26:33great to see
26:35Josh Gilbert
26:36still out there
26:37in MXGP
26:37getting in the
26:38points
26:38Gilbert
26:39who was racing
26:40on the
26:41True 7
26:42Honda team
26:43in Great Britain
26:43chose to lead
26:45that team
26:45because he wanted
26:46to race in MXGP
26:47and his previous
26:50team very much
26:51focused on the
26:52UK domestic scene
26:53so Gilbert
26:53really trying to
26:56make a name for
26:57himself in Grand
26:57Prix racing
26:58and still getting
26:58in the points
26:59they're about to
26:59lap the North
27:00Wales rider
27:00Adam Sterry
27:01currently in
27:0218th position
27:03Sterry still
27:06flying the flag
27:06for Great Britain
27:07in MXGP
27:08along with Ben
27:09Watson
27:09Josh Gilbert
27:11and John
27:12Adamson
27:12we've seen
27:14this year
27:15of course
27:15it's been a
27:15lean time
27:16for Great Britain
27:17in World
27:17Championship
27:17motocross
27:18but the likes
27:18of Bobby
27:19Bruce
27:19and Billy
27:21Askew
27:21getting some
27:22decent results
27:23in
27:23MX250
27:24and in
27:27for Ireland
27:28Cole McCulloch
27:28in the MX125
27:29he's starting
27:30to really
27:31come of age
27:32you would say
27:32in MX125
27:34so
27:34certainly
27:36a good
27:37next generation
27:38of British
27:38and Irish
27:39riders
27:39coming through
27:40the system
27:40as well
27:41Lucas
27:43Koenang
27:44looking good
27:45at the front
27:45of the field
27:45now extending
27:46the gap
27:46to 3.7
27:47seconds
27:48and they're
27:49still third
27:49Blandron fourth
27:50Bonacorsi fifth
27:51from Koldanov
27:52and Hurlings
27:53trying to close up
27:53again in seven
27:54Koenang just
27:59slowly starting
28:00to pull away
28:00over the previous
28:01two laps
28:01eking the gap
28:02up to 3.7
28:03seconds
28:03coping fairly well
28:04with the changing
28:05conditions
28:05oh dear
28:06oh no
28:07look at
28:09Horgmo
28:09he's going to
28:10struggle to get
28:11out of there
28:11let's see how
28:12that happens
28:13so
28:13that was
28:15oh
28:15it wasn't even
28:16his fault
28:17really
28:17Maxime
28:19Renault got
28:19cross-rutted
28:20Horgmo
28:21tried to avoid
28:22him
28:22watch this
28:23now
28:23he tries to
28:23get back
28:24on the track
28:24and
28:25that was
28:27the last
28:27we saw
28:27of him
28:27well
28:32I think the
28:33face
28:33and the
28:34body expression
28:36says it all
28:36really
28:37he's just
28:37going to
28:37leave that
28:38bike there
28:38I think
28:39went off the
28:41track
28:41and remember
28:42the organisers
28:43had to do
28:44very well
28:44to get the
28:44circuit
28:45ready for
28:45racing
28:46they scraped
28:46a lot
28:47of the wet
28:47sloppy
28:48topsoil away
28:48onto those
28:49ditches
28:49on the
28:50infield
28:50well it was
28:52almost like
28:53looking at
28:53Western
28:55beach race
28:55in the
28:56final hour
28:56when it
28:57turns into
28:57carnage
28:58there
28:58that's
29:00only a
29:00grand

29:01and
29:01exotic

29:04there
29:04that's
29:05stuck
29:05in
29:05the
29:05infield
29:05you see
29:09that
29:09this is
29:10when you
29:10say
29:10Western
29:11beach
29:11race
29:11the
29:12sand
29:13gets

29:14the

29:15those
29:15infield
29:15like
29:16it
29:16is
29:16on
29:16the
29:16infield
29:16here
29:16into
29:17cement
29:17and
29:17if
29:18the
29:18bike
29:18gets
29:18stuck
29:18in
29:18there
29:19it
29:19is
29:19pretty
29:19much
29:19stranded
29:20so
29:21I
29:21think
29:21that
29:22the
29:22unfortunate
29:23Kevin
29:23was in
29:24the
29:24top 10
29:24he's
29:25as good
29:26as out
29:26of this
29:26race
29:27Maxime
29:28went over
29:28he still
29:29got
29:29cross-rutted
29:30and it
29:31wasn't
29:31even
29:31really
29:31his fault
29:32he would
29:32say
29:32he just
29:33got spooked
29:33and went
29:34off the
29:34side
29:34of the
29:34track
29:35and it's
29:35put him
29:35out of
29:36contention
29:36so that
29:36means
29:37that
29:37I
29:39would
29:39think
29:39Josh
29:40Gilber
29:40will
29:40get
29:40a few
29:41more
29:41points
29:41might
29:41even
29:42mean
29:42that
29:42John
29:42Adamson
29:43or Ben
29:43Watson
29:43who's
29:44had a
29:44difficult
29:44second
29:45part
29:45of
29:45the

43:45brilliant result
43:46for HRC
43:47what has been a difficult couple of weeks for them
43:48Roman
43:50Febvre
43:51I'm sure he would have wanted to have been on the top step of the podium
43:55but crucially for him he will take the red plate and takes those
43:59final 44 points in the championship
44:01but the happiest man in
44:03Portugal today
44:04who can blame him for looking so happy
44:06Lucas
44:07Koenig
44:08taking his second MXGP career victory
44:10and well he said of course we look forward to seeing Geiser back in action as he wants to go head to head with him once again setting things up quite nicely for a great title race
44:20winning manufacture of course is Red Bull KTM in both MXGP and MX2
44:30much like we saw in the MX2 rankings we've got the podium finishers getting the porcelain trophies
44:41in a nod to the artistic heritage in this Agda area central just going down towards central Portugal
44:50renowned it's fine street art and architecture
44:53Febvre
44:55Febvre
44:56second on the podium holding aloft the monster energy can of course in deference to the MXGP sponsors
45:04and the top step of the podium will of course go to Lucas Koenig who gets the first place trophy
45:13aloft in the air to the delight of the Red Bull KTM team remember a few years ago they uh
45:20uh walked out MXGP
45:22and going back later on of course Marvin Muskan had his moments for KTM as well
45:34before he went to America as well so uh another swing back towards KTM in the last few weeks been a difficult
45:4112 months or so for them but uh certainly doing the business on the track at least
45:47and while it's been a difficult time for them
45:49and Conan top step of the podium but look how happy Ramon Febvre is finally gets the red plate back
46:01the question is can he hold on to it for the rest of the season i'm sure if you ask him
46:05he will certainly want to do so but in the meantime the Belgian national anthem for Koenig
46:19is
46:37so the belgian national anthem for the winning rider and austrian national anthem for the
47:03marine manufacturer ktm
47:17thrills and spills are plenty here in portugal this weekend and a brilliant double motor victory for
47:34lucas koernan in mxgp roman febvre takes the red plate and the action moves to spain in one week's
47:44time the second leg of this iberian double header catches there for more action
47:49so the celebrations at the end here as lucas koernan passes the champagne bottle to his
48:04winning team let's have a look at how he did it
48:10it was about the driest it had been at the start of moto number two for mxgp
48:14and koernan by the whip of his pirelli tire grabbing the whole shot from roman febvre it
48:20was a repeat of moto number one the younger prince at the front the master in second place going head
48:26to head and behind some very experienced names hitting trouble jeremy see we got cross-rutted
48:34he had a difficult moto finished outside of the top ten trouble for the amahas and even jeffrey
48:40hurlings no less he dropped the mic earlier on he had a great battle with ben koldenoff to snatch
48:45the sixth position for hurlings a little wash out on the rut and down he went i'm sure that broken
48:54rib will have felt that but he fought through but after all that after all the experienced names hit
48:59trouble it was lucas koernan who controlled the race from the front as the rain bucketed down later on
49:06roman febvre faded away in the final lap and lucas koernan was able to hang on and take a very strong
49:13and very well-deserved double moto victory lucas koernan massive congratulations your second double
49:21race win victory you kept your emotions in check you kept a cool head you dealt with the pressure from roman
49:26that was a big win for you and your championship has come alive yeah of course a really good weekend
49:31one of the three motors didn't expect it coming in with uh with the mud last year i struggled a big time
49:36here and uh yeah i just uh was hoping for a good start like i did and uh roman was pushing hard so uh
49:41yeah i was a bit nervous at one point and then uh i don't know last step i think he made a mistake so
49:45i didn't see him and i relaxed a bit i think that was the best lap of the home moto for me so
49:50no i was good good weekend now we go back to work and uh see you guys in lugo
50:04i better stop and cut the show i'll leave you all the memories
50:09then go i'm gonna go two hours conversation
50:14so
