01:08***
01:15.
01:55Hello, everyone, and welcome to Extreme Championship Wrestling.
02:04I'm Joey Styles, and we are recapping the events of Hardcore Heaven 1999 live on
02:11Pay-Per-View, a memorable night in ECW history.
02:15Perhaps no match more memorable than the brutal war pitting the ECW World
02:21Television Champion, Mr. PP the RVD, against the challenger, Jerry Lynn.
02:28From Minneapolis, Minnesota, Jerry Lynn.
02:31From Battle Creek, Michigan, the World Television Champion, Rob Van Dam.
02:37Not since Ali and Frazier, not since Kaz and Sabu, has there been a physical
02:45confrontation like the one that pitted Lynn and Van Dam against each other for
02:52the World Television Championship at ECW's Hardcore Heaven 1999.
03:00Just a few minutes into the match, Jerry Lynn got kicked off the top rope and
03:06landed on the floor flat on his face.
03:11At this time, we all thought the match was over.
03:16Van Dam with a solid kick right to Lynn's head.
03:20And Lynn, crashing down, breaking his nose, perhaps his orbital bone, and will be
03:28undergoing tests all this week.
03:32We do not know the extent of Jerry Lynn's injuries.
03:36But Lynn, believe it or not, fought on.
03:41He started countering Rob Van Dam's offense.
03:46He kept coming back and took the best shot that Rob Van Dam could offer.
03:56Jerry Lynn survived a brutal offensive attack by Mr. PPV RVD.
04:06Van Dam kept punishing Lynn, kept trying to put Jerry Lynn away.
04:12But nothing that Van Dam could hit Lynn with would stop Jerry Lynn from coming back at Rob Van Dam.
04:27Despite the brutal beating that Lynn had suffered, he kept trying to mount an offense against the whole effing show.
04:39And finally, after Van Dam missed the Van Daminator, Jerry Lynn started taking Rob Van Dam to the extreme.
04:51He survived Van Dam's split-legged moonsault.
05:02And shocked everyone when he survived the Rob Van Dam five-star frog splash.
05:14And scored a near fall on the world television champion.
05:21Jerry Lynn gained momentum and went for the Cradle Piledriver.
05:28But only great presence of mind by Van Dam saved the world television championship.
05:36Finally, Van Dam hit the Van Daminator and followed through with a second five-star frog splash for the victory.
05:48But no one could deny that the headlines about this match belong to Jerry Lynn, who displayed unbelievable courage and put in a miraculous athletic performance.
06:00Jerry Lynn earned everyone three seconds, even Rob Van Dam.
06:10What a war waged by Rob Van Dam and Jerry Lynn.
06:15The matchup took such an amazing physical toll on both competitors that after the matchup in the locker room, Rob Van Dam took several stitches in different parts of his face.
06:28And by Monday morning, both of his eyes had swelled shut.
06:33Meanwhile, Sunday night after the matchup, in another locker room, Jerry Lynn was immediately laid out on the floor by State Athletic Commission-appointed doctors who feared he had a cracked skull.
06:46Every wrestler, every performer in extreme championship wrestling hovered over Jerry Lynn with concerned faces.
06:56But Lance Storm, Lance Storm of all people, noticed blood trickling from Jerry Lynn's ear.
07:03And knowing, unfortunately from experience, that that may be a sign of a cracked skull, didn't wait for the ambulance called by the doctors.
07:12Lance Storm took it upon himself to pick up Jerry Lynn's limp body and immediately drive him to the emergency room.
07:20On a personal note, I was taken aback by the humanity shown by Lance Storm, a world-class performer who markets himself as a real heel, a bad guy.
07:33Yet he took Jerry Lynn to the hospital.
07:38But what we're trying to convey is not how humane Lance Storm is, but rather the respect and admiration that was earned by Rob Van Dam and Jerry Lynn from everyone in extreme championship wrestling and everyone who saw this matchup.
07:58Rob Van Dam and Jerry Lynn, two great athletes who put on a show.
08:03Two great athletes who waged a war.
08:08Two great athletes who gave the fans more than their money's worth.
08:14And two great athletes who beat each other half to death in pursuit of the world television title at Hardcore Heaven 1999.
08:30One, two great athletes who beat the fans more than their man,
08:35One, two great athletes who beat the fans more than their men.
08:41Now, the Dudley boys are out, Cole.
08:44Paul's Mahoney has got to be.
08:46Side guy got caught.
08:49You have got to be kidding me, Joel Gertner.
08:59Gertner's like a fiery young baby face in there, look at him fire up.
09:02Joel Kertner is about to die.
09:06Joel Kertner trying to throw fire at Bowles Mahoney.
09:19This is on the verge of being pathetic right now.
09:28Joel is so proud of us.
09:31What's he drinking going?
09:39I don't like the looks of this.
09:41I'm no fan of Joel Kertner, but I don't like the looks of this.
09:43Coming up later in the program, Tommy Dreamer finally gets his hands on Lance Storm's Beulah, that bitch.
10:02B-Y-T-C-H.
10:05The return of the most vicious psycho in the history of wrestling, the monster known as Sid, and the suicide.
10:13Homicidal, genocidal maniacs have who defies authority yet again.
10:18But now we take you back to Queens, New York City for highlights of a matchup.
10:23Because quite frankly, it was so good that most of it could never air on television.
10:27Between Bowles Mahoney and the original gangster New Jack.
10:31bekommen his hand from Sihnuci.
10:44Camjas Mutti Fox and Atlanta.
10:51Sing along with Bowles here at the Big Apple.
11:21Mosh Pit Karaoke here at the Madhouse of Xtreme in Queens, New York City.
11:33Ladies and gentlemen, this match is an all-weapons legal match,
11:38a street fight, anything goes.
11:51The chairs twigging, bloodletting, three goals Mahoney against the original gangsta New Jack.
12:02All-weapons legal, anything goes, extreme street fight.
12:09Only an extreme championship wrestling.
12:15And as always, New Jack, is that a vacuum cleaner?
12:20New Jack more than prepared.
12:26New Jack duck.
12:30Crunch across the back of Mahoney.
12:36Balls Mahoney going all the way up top.
12:38Great agility for a big man.
12:42Frog splashed by the 350-ponder.
12:46Mahoney collabs with the ribcage of New Jack.
12:51First pinball, 10 to the men.
12:54But on the second row, every John Peewee mall right there.
12:58New Jack directly to our left.
13:02Up here in the balcony in the Madhouse of Xtreme.
13:08My God!
13:12My God!
13:14My God!
13:23Your neck here, three, five.
13:28New Jack sleep to 15 feet from the balcony.
13:33Shroud, the robotic ball behind him through the table, all the way up the floor.
13:37here at the Madhouse of Extreme.
13:41Mahoney being helped to his feet by ECW security.
13:50Can Bill to get back in the ring?
13:53New Jack needs assistance as well.
13:59If New Jack can cover balls, Mahoney, this matchup is over.
14:05The question is, can New Jack even fall over to the fallen body of balls, Mahoney?
14:17He's tried with everything in him.
14:20Itching his way, Swords' opponent.
14:23Cover.
14:26Mahoney gets the right shoulder up off the canvas.
14:31Inconceivable.
14:32Cause nobody's watching you leave your home.
14:36Mahoney catches it with the right hand.
14:39The Cracker Suite.
14:41The Cracker Suite on the roadside.
14:43Cover.
14:44Pulls, Mahoney wins.
14:48It was a human car wreck.
15:00Leaving both the bloody balls, Mahoney and New Jack in the center of the ring.
15:10New Jack diving, 15 feet driving Mahoney through the table.
15:14Then going for the diving chair, but getting caught with the Nutcracker Suite.
15:19Your winner, Pauls Mahoney.
15:21What a war we have seen here tonight in New York City.
15:32This war may not feel.
15:51Spike gets caught.
16:06Now balls catch a spike.
16:08What the hell?
16:10Some thoughts about hardcore heaven from Poughkeepsie, New York.
16:14I would have to say that out of all the ECW pay-per-views that I've been witness to, that has to be my favorite.
16:23But the things that I've seen backstage, particularly after the pay-per-view was over,
16:28I have never seen such an amazing collection of athletes who have put their lives at risk.
16:37I mean lives and limbs and in some cases maybe even livelihoods at risk.
16:42All in the name of extreme championship wrestling.
16:46I mean a more amazing collection of athletes I've never seen.
16:49For instance, Rob Van Dam coming backstage after his match with Jerry Lynn, missing chunks of his face.
16:57Chunk's face just gone.
16:59His opponent, Jerry Lynn, his nose was actually in the wrong part of his face after that match.
17:05And in essence, he refused medical help.
17:08And only until the New York State Athletic Commission interceded, only then did he get medical help.
17:13It's just pretty amazing all the way around.
17:16Taz, the world champ, I mean bleeding profusely.
17:20And while he was getting medical attention backstage, hanging on to that world title for dear life.
17:25Obviously, it means the world to him.
17:27And I can certainly understand why.
17:29And Tommy Dreamer, Tommy Dreamer, my God.
17:34The man couldn't walk.
17:36Literally.
17:37This is a shoot now.
17:38Crawling on his hands and knees to get to the bathroom.
17:42Matter of fact, he might still be crawling on his hands and knees right now.
17:44Even a splinter in his eye.
17:46And asked him about it afterwards.
17:48Huh.
17:49Another day at the office.
17:51Tommy Dreamer.
17:53I mean, I have never seen a collection.
17:55Oh, oh, oh, oh.
17:56I'm sorry.
17:57Did you hear something?
17:58Hey, hey.
17:59Yeah?
18:00Prozac.
18:01Prozac.
18:02Whatever.
18:03What was the best part of the pay-per-view?
18:05Oh, let's see.
18:06Probably the fact that you weren't on it.
18:09No.
18:10I was on it.
18:11Did you see how many asses I kicked in the locker room?
18:13Uh, I don't think anybody saw how many asses you kicked in the locker room.
18:17Look at this.
18:18Eh?
18:19Eh?
18:20Eh?
18:21Oh, I see.
18:22I think I got these.
18:23I think I got these.
18:24Oh, I see.
18:25So you kicked some TV crew and some joker named Ron's ass to get those.
18:27Yeah?
18:28Did they get good close-ups of it?
18:29Uh, they must have just missed it.
18:30Maybe they'll get it in the editing later on.
18:32Huh.
18:33Let me tell you something.
18:34I was the man.
18:35You were the man to get that.
18:37But alas, it didn't make the pay-per-view.
18:39I don't know.
18:40I'm so sorry, Steve.
18:41Oh, so I'm a liar?
18:42I'm sort of intimidating at ya.
18:44Oh, you are?
18:45Yeah.
18:46And I don't like how you used my name either.
18:48Your name?
18:49Oh, you have copyright on the name?
18:51Steve Carino?
18:52Steve?
18:53Any way, shape, or form?
18:55That's mine.
18:56What was I thinking?
18:57You know what?
18:58You should be the next ass I kick.
18:59I'm in an ass-kicking mood.
19:01Oh, so you are threatening to kick my ass?
19:03Oh, I'm not just threatening.
19:04I'm going to do it.
19:06You are.
19:07You're going to kick my ass right here.
19:08Right now.
19:09Why don't you take the glasses off?
19:10Well, I'll leave them on, actually.
19:11Take the glasses off.
19:12Go on.
19:13You might need a target.
19:14Easy target.
19:15You know what?
19:16I'm getting real tired of people like you.
19:18And I'm getting tired of ECW not respecting me.
19:21And I'm out of-
19:22Darn it!
19:24I'm getting to grab my ass.
19:25Oh, that's gonna be nice!
19:26Now, this is the story of a woman called Eulah.
19:37But that's not her name.
19:39She's not the real Eula McGillicuddy.
19:41That's just what Lance Storm calls her
19:44so that he can get underneath the skin
19:47of the innovator of violence, Tommy Dreamer.
19:52On Sunday night, May 16th,
19:56at ECW's Hardcore Heaven 99 pay-per-view,
20:00Lance Storm and his Eula stood in the middle of the ring
20:05for an extreme death attack against Tommy Dreamer
20:09who brought with him the head cheerleader,
20:13the queen of extreme, Francine.
20:18This was a deeply personal issue
20:23between the Canadian upstart Lance Storm
20:27and the innovator of violence, Tommy Dreamer.
20:31These two men literally took each other to the extreme.
20:39But when Tommy Dreamer dedicated a Spicoli driver
20:42off the top rope to Louie Spicoli's sister
20:45who was sitting at ringside,
20:47Cyrus the Virus left the broadcast position
20:49only to get Bronco Bustered by Francine,
20:53which led to a cat fight.
20:55And Tommy Dreamer finally got his chance
20:59to teach this bitch BYDCH a lesson
21:04about exploiting the name of Eula McGillicuddy.
21:08But Lance Storm cracked Tommy Dreamer
21:10with a garbage can,
21:12put the garbage can on Dreamer's head,
21:15delivered a spin kick off the top rope,
21:17and Francine's face tells it all.
21:20Lance Storm scores the 1-2-3,
21:23the pitfall on Tommy Dreamer.
21:27So Tommy Dreamer finally ended the exploit case
21:31of the name Eula by that bitch BYDCH
21:35or Dawn Marie or whatever the hell
21:37she's gonna call herself by tomorrow.
21:39But Lance Storm took the win,
21:41and it wasn't the last we would see of Lance Storm
21:45as he would later get involved in a situation
21:48involving his court-crime, Just Incredible,
21:51the monster known as Sid,
21:53and the suicidal, homicidal, genocidal, Sabu.
22:00The Impact player in ECW as of late
22:04has been Just Incredible,
22:06who not only broke the ankle
22:08of the franchise James Huntley
22:10in James' hometown of Pittsburgh,
22:14but also got Sabu fans across the country.
22:17Well, Judge Jeff Jones decided to make
22:20the Mid-Hudson Civic Center
22:21in Poughkeepsie, New York,
22:23his own personal courtroom,
22:25and sentenced Justin to a fate worse than death.
22:29He sentenced the unrepentant criminals
22:31to a beating at the hands of Sid.
22:35And when Sid returned to ECW at Hardcore Heaven,
22:40it blew the roof off of the Mid-Hudson Civic Center.
22:44Sid opened up his match with Just Incredible
22:48by throwing Justin into the light.
22:51But when Sid was going to powerbomb Justin,
22:57Justin was saved by the sexiest man on Earth,
23:01Jason, who was powerbombed on his head
23:05by the monster in Sid.
23:09Sid once again attempted to powerbomb Justin,
23:12but Lance Storm hit the ring and made the save,
23:15only to be joked slammed
23:18by the native of West Memphis, Arkansas.
23:22But this gave Justin Incredible a chance
23:25to throw powder in Sid's face.
23:28This blinded the 6'9", 320-pound behemoth,
23:35and he fell victim.
23:37He fell victim to the double-teaming tactics
23:41of Just Incredible and the Canadian upstart, Lance Storm.
23:48But when Justin and Lance decided to mock Sabu
23:51by trying to put Sid through a table,
23:54the suicidal, homicidal, genocidal Sabu
23:58made his appearance at Hardcore Heaven,
24:01defying the authorities, ignoring his ban.
24:05And when he was going to put Justin and Sid through a table,
24:08Lance Storm pulled Justin away from Sabu,
24:13but Sabu still put the vicious Sid through a table.
24:19Local police and security swarmed the banished Sabu,
24:25but he broke away and put one of the security guards
24:29through a table at ringside.
24:32Once again, the security swarmed Sabu
24:39as he tried to get to either Sid or Justin Credible.
24:44Judge Jeff Jones had made the worst mistake of his life
24:48by chaptising Sid,
24:50who immediately powerbombed Judge Jeff Jones
24:55straight into the mat.
24:57Sid had turned the Mid-Hudson Civic Center
25:00into his own courtroom,
25:03and the case of Judge Jeff Jones
25:05had been dismissed.
25:08At first, it was Bill Alfonso who benched Sabu
25:11because Sabu needed a series of surgeries on his jaw.
25:16But then, when Justin Credible
25:18and Lance Storm stewed Sabu off
25:20to the Athletic Commission
25:21and got him banned nationally,
25:23Alfonso changed his tune.
25:25He snapped.
25:26He encouraged Sabu to the Fire Authority.
25:29He encouraged Sabu to crash the party at Hardcore Heaven.
25:33And will any of us ever forget the sight of Sabu
25:36putting Sid, that monster, through a table?
25:40Nobody has taken Sid to the extreme
25:42like Sabu did at Hardcore Heaven.
25:46Just incredible.
25:48And Lance Storm can surround themselves with the Marines.
25:50The Royal Canadian Mountain Police,
25:54it doesn't matter, because they are going to have to contend
25:57with the suicidal, homicidal, genociled, death-defying maniac
26:02known only as Sabu.
26:05Hello.
26:06Cyrus here.
26:08You know, a lot of people,
26:09and I don't want to stir anyone up,
26:11I hate to have heat,
26:12but a lot of people, the higher-ups, in fact,
26:14are saying that these two gentlemen right here,
26:16Justin Credible and Lance Storm,
26:17are, in fact, the greatest tag team in ECW.
26:21Future tag team champions, that's the writing on the wall.
26:23Not my opinion, just what I hear.
26:25Lance?
26:26It's not your opinion, but it's the truth.
26:29Everybody's trying to stand in our way.
26:31The Dudleys, they're avoiding us like the plague.
26:33Tommy Dreamer, who at least had the guts
26:36to show up and face me,
26:38all he managed to accomplish was to beat up a woman.
26:41And then Shane Douglas, who can't show up and wrestle,
26:44so they send us Sid.
26:45We don't sweat you, big man.
26:47You see, I'm from Calgary, Alberta, Canada,
26:50and we don't sweat anybody.
26:53And as for Sabu, well, my partner can take care of him.
26:59Sabu, are you, I mean, I understand
27:03that you don't get the English thing.
27:06I mean, you're not real smart.
27:07Read my lips, pal.
27:08You're banned.
27:09You're finished.
27:10You're done.
27:10You're not allowed to wrestle.
27:12Do you understand what that means?
27:14Do you have any concept, my friend?
27:15You are finished here and anywhere else in the United States.
27:21Now, you know what?
27:23We had Sid beat down,
27:26and you had to rain on our parade.
27:30We don't like that, Sabu.
27:32You take a good, long look.
27:35You're looking at the greatest tag team in wrestling today.
27:39You're looking at the next ECW world tag team champions.
27:46Now, that's not just the coolest,
27:48and that's not just the best.
27:50That's just incredible.
27:54This is my favorite part when they do this.
27:55It's tremendous.
27:56Yeah, well, of course.
27:57I told him that.
28:01When Chris Candido and Tammy Lynn Sitch
28:04interrupted the opening of Hardcore Heaven 99,
28:07we knew we were in for trouble.
28:10You see, Candido had purchased an insurance policy
28:13in the name of the six-time world tag team champions,
28:16the Dusty Boys.
28:18But Taz had made a promise.
28:19He was going to choke out Candido
28:21the next time Chris showed his face in public.
28:24And that's exactly what Taz did.
28:27He buzzed through the Dudley Boys,
28:29got his hands on Candido,
28:31and forced Chris Candido to tap within one minute.
28:36But then the Dudley Boys hit 3-D
28:39and issued an open challenge.
28:42Balls Mahoney and Spike Dudley accepted the challenge.
28:45And although Mahoney burned Joel Gertner,
28:48Spike and Balls went down to 3-D as well.
28:54Gertner's hit list was revealed in the locker room,
28:58and the Dudleys proceeded to beat everyone up in sight.
29:02Yvonne broke his hand on the head of Chris Chetty,
29:05but Taz let it be known he was coming back after the Dudley Boys.
29:10At the end of the night, it was Taz one-on-one against Bubba Ray Dudley,
29:16and Taz and Bubba Ray fought all over the building
29:20in an FTW rules, undisputed heavyweight championship of the world match.
29:27Taz, Taz let Bubba Ray through a table,
29:31applied the Katahajime,
29:33and escaped Pacific, New York,
29:36and the Mid-Hudson Civic Center
29:38with the undisputed World Heavyweight Championship belt
29:42around his waist.
29:44Taz successfully defended the title
29:47at Hardcore Heaven 1999.
29:51At this time, we take you to one week before
29:57the Hardcore Heaven pay-per-view,
30:00a matchup from the ECW Arena
30:03in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
30:05We're going to queue it up right now.
30:07Rob Van Dam defending the World Television title
30:10against Skoban Push.
30:12Again, this matchup taped at the ECW Arena.
30:28What a week before the Hardcore Heaven pay-per-view.
30:31At Hardcore Heaven, Rob Van Dam
30:45had a brutal title defense
30:47against Jerry Lynn.
30:52Brutal in that, Rob Van Dam and Jerry Lynn
30:54were both busted open.
30:57As a matter of fact, after the matchup,
30:59Jerry Lynn was washed from the hospital
31:01by all people playing storm.
31:09This match will illustrate the beating
31:11that Rob Van Dam...
31:16Alfonso will be my color commentator.
31:21And this match will illustrate
31:23the beating that Rob Van Dam
31:28has sustained for the past 13 months
31:32in defending the ECW World Television Championship
31:37since winning it from Bam Bam Bigelow
31:41in Buffalo, New York

39:05It seems everywhere ECNW travels in these United States,
39:09more and more fans are appreciating Skull.

39:59Right now, Rob Van Damme could answer that question.

45:20Five star frog splash.
45:50Skull Von Crush, taking yet another step to becoming a star at ECW.
45:57And Rob Van Damme retained the world television title.
46:02It would go on to hard five and live on pay-per-view to face Jerry Lean in what
46:08was perhaps the most brutal matchup we have ever seen.
46:13And that covers a lot of ground at ECW.
46:16But how can he keep this up?
46:21With world television title defenses scheduled for such cities as Detroit,
46:27New York, Philadelphia, Fort Lauderdale.
46:33Surely, our debut in the windy city of Chicago.
46:39And then at the Heat Wave 1999 pay-per-view on Sunday night, July 18th.
46:46How can Rob Van Damme continue to turn away this many challenges for that belt?
46:54How many beatings can he sustain?
47:00For how long can the man who calls himself Mr. PPV and the whole effing show
47:11continue his reign as the ECW World Television Champion?
