During a City Hall press briefing a reporter asked New York City Mayor to clarify his stance on antisemitism and pro-Palestinian messages, and about his meeting with President Trump.
Transcript
00:01Hi, Mayor. How are you?
00:02Good. How are you doing?
00:03I'm good. I have two questions for you.
00:05Yes.
00:06You talked to Trump yesterday – well, you talked to Trump last week,
00:10and then you said yesterday that the Empire Wind Farm you discussed.
00:14Do you have a specific timeline for it?
00:16Because the developers recently stated that if it doesn't come –
00:20start reworking again in a few first months of summer,
00:24they might have to abandon the project as a whole.
00:26So I wanted to know if you have a timeline for that.
00:28And then my second question – multiple colleges,
00:31Brooklyn College and Columbia University had student protests,
00:34and you've stated before that you don't appreciate
00:37and you don't tolerate anti-Semitism.
00:39Can you give us a definitive answer if you believe being pro-Palestine
00:43is the same as being anti-Semitic?
00:45First, let me answer that – no.
00:47You know, you could be pro-something without being anti-something.
00:51And this is a country of free speech.
00:54People make many comments.
00:56And you don't have to like the comments that people make,
00:59but that's what makes this country great.
01:01You know, I've been in countries where you make comments
01:04and you can find yourself treated in a harsh way.
01:07So, no, being pro-something, being pro-Palestine doesn't make you anti-something.
01:14People have their opinions.
01:15And I don't agree with opinions, but I respect the fact that we all have different opinions.
01:21The Wind Farm, the Equinor project is important to us.
01:29And we're going to do everything we can to advocate for it.
01:32But the ultimate decision and agreement is going to come down to the federal authorities.
01:37But we're going to fight like hack to show why this is an important project.
01:42A thousand jobs, 500,000 homes would be impacted.
01:47Billions of dollars are being invested.
01:49And it's part of our Port of the Future analysis that we're doing.
01:53And so, we're hoping we can get it over the finish line.
01:56And we're going to push to try to do the best we can.
