00:00Never seen anything like it. There's no better place to make a future or make a fortune to anything, frankly, than what we have in the United States of America under a certain president, Donald J. Trump. I have the right attitude. I have the same attitude that the people in the front row, second row, third row have. As you get back, perhaps they start to wane a little bit in terms of their view, but they understand and we're doing what a lot of smart people would do.
00:30And we're not necessarily being politically correct. You saw what we did yesterday with health care. We've cut our health care by 50 to 90 percent. You're going to see drugs and pharmaceuticals come down at numbers that nobody has ever seen.
00:46And drugs, pharmaceuticals, we think we'll be dropping and a redistribution of costs with other nations, which really took advantage of a very nice group of people that ran our country.
01:00But not only is this a time of incredible excitement in the United States, it's also an exhilarating period right here in the Arabian Peninsula. Beautiful place, by the way. Beautiful place.
01:14Exactly. Exactly. Exactly eight years ago this month, I stood in this very room and look forward to a future in which the nations of this region would drive the forces of terrorism and extremism, drive them right out of existence,
01:35and take your place among the proudest, most prosperous, most prosperous, most successful nations anywhere in the world as leaders of a modern and rising Middle East.
01:44So exciting. So exciting. Mohammed, do you sleep at night? How do you sleep?
01:50What a job. He tosses and turns like some of us. Tosses and turns all night. How do I make it even better all night? It's the ones that don't toss and turn.
02:10And they're the ones that will never take you to the promised land, won't they? But you have done some job.
02:17True.
02:21But critics doubted that it was possible what you've done. But over the past eight years, Saudi Arabia has proved the critics totally wrong.
02:29The transformation that has occurred even by these incredible business leaders.
02:33I mean, you had the biggest leaders in business anywhere in the world standing right before us.
02:39But the transformation that has occurred under the leadership of King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed has been truly extraordinary.
02:49Such a thing has, I don't think, ever happened before.
02:52I've never seen anything at that scale happen before.
02:55And I guess, you know, maybe you could say the United States is doing pretty well, too, you know.
03:02But I don't think too many people have seen that happen before.
03:06Majestic skyscrapers, the towers that I see, the difference between now and eight years ago.
03:13And eight years ago was very impressive.
03:14But the towers that I see rising, some of the exhibits that I was shown by Mohammed, if what I've seen there is just an amazing, amazing process, amazing genius.
03:29So many people, architecture.
03:31But I have a feeling nowhere, I know where many of those ideas came from.
03:36Happens to be sitting right in this room right before me.
03:39But the towers and the all of the different, I've seen a lot of different towers.
03:43I didn't think there's any version of a tower that I haven't seen in one form or another.
03:49I just passed four exhibits.
03:51I have never seen anything like any of them.
03:53So it's going to be very exciting.
03:58And they sit among the ancient wonders of a growing and exciting city.
04:05It's really amazing.
04:07Riyadh is becoming not just a seat of government,
04:10but a major business, cultural, and high-tech capital of the entire world.
04:16The World Cup is here.
04:18Johnny, just stand up, Johnny.
04:21Johnny.
04:23Thank you, Johnny.
04:24Thank you, Johnny.
04:34Great job, Johnny.
04:35Great job.
04:36But the World Cup and the World Expo will soon be coming here.
04:41It's like the World Cup is coming to the United States.
04:44It's going to be really exciting next year.
04:48The engines of Formula One racing now roar through the streets of Jeddah
04:52in a historic milestone.
04:55Other industries recently surpassed oil.
04:58Think of it.
04:59All of your other industries now have surpassed oil.
05:02I don't know if a lot of people will understand what that means.
05:06It's so big.
05:07To make up a majority of the Saudi economy for the very first time ever.
05:11So think of that.
05:12Other industries are now bigger even than oil,
05:15which is always going to be a big monster.
05:17It's a big one.
05:19But that's a great tribute to you and economic development properly used.
05:24In other cities throughout the peninsula, places like Dubai and Abu Dhabi, Doha, Muscat,
05:32the transformations have been unbelievably remarkable.
05:36Before our eyes, a new generation of leaders is transcending the ancient conflicts of tired
05:42divisions of the past and forging a future where the Middle East is defined by commerce,
05:47not chaos, where it exports technology, not terrorism,
05:51and where people of different nations, religions, and creeds are building cities together,
05:57not bombing each other out of existence.
06:01We don't want that.
06:02And it's crucial for the wider world to note this great transformation has not come from
06:16Western interventionalists or flying people in beautiful planes giving you lectures on how to live
06:25and how to govern your own affairs.
06:27Others know that gleaming marvels of Riyadh and Abu Dhabi were not created by the so-called
06:33nation-builders, neocons, or liberal non-profits like those who spent trillions and trillions
06:40of dollars failing to develop Kabbalah, Baghdad, so many other cities.
06:48Instead, the birth of a modern Middle East has been brought by the people of the region themselves,
06:55the people that are right here, the people that have lived here all their lives,
06:58developing your own sovereign countries, pursuing your own unique visions,
07:03and charting your own destinies in your own way.
07:07It's really incredible what you've done.
07:10In the end, the so-called nation-builders wrecked far more nations than they built,
07:15and the interventionalists were intervening in complex societies that they did not even understand
07:23themselves.
07:24They told you how to do it, but they had no idea how to do it themselves.
07:29Peace, prosperity, and progress ultimately came not from a radical rejection of your heritage,
07:35heritage, but rather from embracing your national traditions and embracing that same heritage that
07:41you love so dearly.
07:48And it's something only you could do.
07:51You achieved a modern miracle, the Arabian way.
07:55That's a good way.
07:56Today, the Gulf nations have shown this entire region a path towards safe and orderly societies
08:10with improving quality of life, flourishing economic growth, expanding personal freedoms,
08:15and increasing responsibilities on the world stage.
08:19After so many decades of conflict, finally it is within our grasp to reach the future that
08:24generations before us could only dream about a land of peace, safety, harmony, opportunity,
08:32innovation, and achievement right here in the Middle East.
08:35So beautiful.
08:36It's such a beautiful thing that's happening.
08:38I guess, you know, the people that are here can't even really appreciate it because you see it happening
08:44and it's when you come to a place that you haven't seen in five years or 10 years or 20 years
08:50that it's even more incredible.
08:51When I left office just over four years ago, that future seemed almost impossible, what you've done.
08:58Together, we have...
