00:00Look up, look down, look all around. Up in the air or on the ground. Come for a walk, come for a ride. There's so much to see, so come outside.
00:26We're round and brown with a smooth, dry skin. We grow long, thin roots below. Out of our tops grow leaves and flowers. What are we called? Do you know? We're bulbs.
00:56Hello, my dears. I'm doing some gardening today. I love gardening, especially growing flowers.
01:08Where's my other glove?
01:18Where's my other glove?
01:30I suppose I must have left it out in the garden somewhere.
01:36I know who'll find it.
01:48Pippin!
01:50I need your help, Pippin. See if you can find a glove, just like this one. Have a good sniff. Go on, off you go.
02:02Dogs have a very good sense of smell. She'll soon sniff it out.
02:08These are some flowers I've grown. They're called hyacinths.
02:23Mmm, they smell so nice.
02:30They grow from bulbs. Look, you can see the top of the bulb above the soil.
02:45It's grown long, thin roots to take in water and goodness from the soil.
02:53We'll have a look inside it.
03:03You mustn't do this. You might hurt yourself.
03:09It looks like an onion inside. The water and goodness are stored in here, ready to feed the plant and help it grow.
03:21So the plant's got its own little lunchbox.
03:33There.
03:37Mmm, lovely scent.
03:51There.
04:01Haven't you found my glove yet, Pippin?
04:05The springtime flowers are out already.
04:17These yellow flowers are daffodils. You can't see the bulbs. They're under the ground.
04:23That reminds me. Last year, Pippin and I had a day out in Lincolnshire. We saw a field where they were planting hundreds and hundreds of daffodil bulbs.
04:37A big machine was making long furrows in the ground.
04:49At the same time, it was planting the bulbs and covering them up with soil.
04:55Pippin decided to help.
05:13Oh, we had a lovely day out.
05:33I wonder if that bulb Pippin planted has grown a flower yet.
05:39Do you know? It probably has. And all those other bulbs, too.
