Western Australia is experiencing an unusually warm Autumn, with recent temperatures sitting in the high twenties. While the unexpected weather has been drawing some residents to the beach, it’s been causing issues for farmers in the state’s south.

00:23A final taste of summer that's stretched right through autumn and now almost into winter.
00:28What might be good news for beach goers is frustrating farmers in the state's south.
00:33We had some issues with some of our flowers. Normally they would start being planted in February and March.
00:41However, this year we planted them, but they just never came up because the soil temperature was still too warm.
00:48Around the state, some areas have seen maximum temperatures 8 to 10 degrees above normal for this time of year.
00:54Experts say the warm autumn trend is likely to continue.
00:57The trouble is that we really feel the downsides of that when we get to the following summer and we find that our groundwater levels haven't refilled so that our lakes are dry.
01:07We find that our soils are dry and our plants start to suffer.
01:12In Perth, the warm weather is set to continue throughout the week with temperatures in the high 20s forecast until at least Sunday.
