New Delhi May 10, 2025 (ANI): DGMO Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai shared details of a communication with his Pakistani counterpart on May 10, which led to an agreement to cease cross-border firing and air intrusions. However, within hours, Pakistan violated the agreement with further firing and drone intrusions. India responded forcefully to these violations. Ghai emphasized that a follow-up discussion was scheduled for May 12 to ensure the longevity of the ceasefire, but India has made it clear that any future violations will be met with a strong counteraction, with full authority granted to Indian Army commanders to respond as needed.DGMO Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai said "...My communication with the Pak DGMO was conducted at 15:35 hrs yesterday and resulted in cessation of cross-border firing and air intrusions by either side with effect from 17:00 hrs, 10th of May, after he proposed that we cease hostilities. We also decided to further speak on the 12th of May at 12:00 hrs to discuss the modalities that would enable the longevity of this understanding. However, disappointingly, expectedly it took only a couple of hours for Pakistan Army to violate these arrangements by cross border and across Line of Control firing followed by drone intrusions through last night and in the early hours of today. These violations were responded to robustly...We have earlier today sent another hotline message to my counterpart highlighting these violations of the understanding between the DGMOs on 10th of May and our firm and clear intent to respond to these fiercely if repeated tonight, subsequently or later...The Chief of Army Staff has granted full authority to our army commander for counteraction in case of any violation by Pakistan..."

00:00Ladies and gentlemen, on the 10th of May, in the morning, even as we were getting into a huddle
00:06to wargame the events of the previous night, a routine exercise, I received a message on hotline
00:13from my counterpart in Pakistan seeking my willingness to communicate. Since our initial
00:21aim was to strike at terror camps and all our actions in the subsequent days were in response
00:28to the intrusions and violations by the Pakistan Air Force and its army, it was decided that I would
00:38indeed speak with my counterpart. You are already aware, I have seen it being covered on national
00:45television, that my communication with the PAC DGMO was conducted at 1535 hours yesterday and resulted
00:56in cessation of cross-border firing and air intrusions by either side with effect from 1700
01:04hours, 10th of May, after he proposed that we seize hostilities. We also decided to further speak on the
01:1512th of May, that's tomorrow, at 1200 hours to discuss the modalities that would enable the longevity of
01:23this understanding. However, disappointingly, and must I add, expectedly, it took only a couple of hours for the
01:35Pakistan Army to violate these arrangements by cross-border and across the line of control firing, followed by drone
01:44intrusion intrusions across the expanse of the Western Front through last night and in the early hours of the
01:51morning today. These violations were responded to robustly and dealt with as they must be. We have earlier today
02:02sent another hotline message to my counterpart, highlighting these violations of the understanding
02:11between the DGMOs on the 10th of May and our firm and clear intent to respond to these fiercely and punitively,
02:23if repeated tonight, subsequently or later. In this regard, I must inform all of you that the Chief of Army
02:32Army Staff has earlier today conducted a security review and has granted full authority to our Army
02:41commanders for counteractions in the kinetic domain in case of any violation by Pakistan.
02:50In the end, I pay my solemn homage to my five fallen colleagues and brothers from the armed forces
03:00forces and civilians who have tragically lost their lives in Operation Sindhu. Our hearts go out to the
03:10bereaved families and we express our solidarity to them in this lifetime and beyond,
03:23our hearts go out to the ground at this grave juncture in their lives.
03:32Their sacrifices shall always be remembered and spoken of in glowing terms by a grateful nation.
03:42We have thus far, ladies and gentlemen, exercised and my colleague Pramod highlighted this immense restraint
03:50and our actions have been focused, measured and non-escalatory. However,
03:58any threat to the sovereignty, territorial integrity and safety of our citizens will be met with decisive force.
