00:00On top of the news, results of the latest Okta Tugon ng Masa survey shows more Filipinos not seeing themselves as living in shiftless poverty in a state of abject hunger.
00:11Veritable proof that government social services and economic development programs are making a dent in the administration's efforts to lift more and more Filipinos out of the poverty line.
00:22Our Kenneth Paschente fills us in with the numbers and governments vow to work even harder in this report.
00:30Michael earns P700 to P1,000 per day as a tricycle driver. Although it's not a large amount, he says it's enough for him, his wife, and child to get by each day.
00:49Michael is an example of the millions of Filipinos who no longer consider themselves poor.
00:53In the Tugon ng Masa survey by Okta Research this April, the number of Filipinos who consider themselves poor dropped to 42% or 11.1 million, down from 50% or 13.2 million in November 2024.
01:08Those who consider themselves food poor also dropped to 35% or 9.2 million, compared to 49% or 12.9 million in November 2023.
01:18Self-rated hunger also dropped from 16% to 13%.

01:58The president also welcomed the recorded increase in the country's gross domestic product in the first quarter of the year.
02:05According to Malacanang, this is proof that the government's efforts are bearing fruit.
02:09But there is still work left to be done.
