John Morgan caught up with Billboard's Lyndsey Havens & Tetris Kelly at the ACM Awards 2025.

00:00How's your ACM week been so far?

00:02It's been amazing, dude.

00:04This is my first time doing the carpet, doing all the stuff, so taking it all in.

00:11What is your first reaction to this?

00:15Controlled chaos, it looks like.

00:17Not a lot of cool people in here.

00:19I get to see a lot more of my artist friends here than I even do in town, so it's fun.

00:23And I mean, to me, what is it about that shocking to you?

00:27Because knowing you and being around you, your energy is so calm.

00:30I can't see you shocked.

00:31But then now, being at Billboard Live and then doing stage coaching and then doing this, you've been moving.

00:36So what's shocking about any of it?

00:38I think just how much you're gone.

00:43When you're promoting a song or promoting an album, whatever it may be, it's just a grind.

00:49And this is kind of my first time doing that as an artist, as opposed to being on the songwriting side of things

00:55and writing a song and making somebody else do it.

00:58Now I know all the hard work that goes into it, so I appreciate all my cuts now even more.

01:02So it's been a lot of fun.

01:04So you did say, I don't know how much I could say, but this morning, you know, it sounds like there's a lot of new music on the way.

01:09What can you share about what we're about to hear as fans?

01:12You know, it's...

01:16She's a journalist, you know.

01:20I'm going to drill myself into the ground.

01:22You are wonderful at your job.

01:24No, I think we're still kind of...

01:26We're down to two, I'll tell you that.

01:28We're down to two for what's going to follow Friends.

01:32I think the front runner right now is probably Kid Myself, which I'm really excited about.

01:36We get to do that one at Billboard.

01:38It was a lot of fun.

01:38So one of my favorites off the album, for sure.

01:41You got it out of me.

01:43You got what you want.

01:45And does this inspire you?

01:46Do you ever, like, now that you're in these events and spaces, does it change your songwriting approach at all, ever?

01:52That's a good question.

01:53I think it's more inspiring on just leveling up, whatever that may be.

01:59You know, beating what you've already done.

02:01I think that's the hardest thing about this industry and what we do.

02:05It's like, you know, and it relates to other industries, too.

02:08But for me, specifically, I'm like, how are we going to beat it?

02:11How are we going to level up?

02:12So it's always fun to get this and get encouraged to maybe be out here and be playing on the big stage tonight one day, you know?
