Countries facing Trump-era tariffs are increasingly granting Starlink regulatory approvals, viewing it as a gesture to advance trade negotiations with the U.S., according to internal State Department cables obtained by the Washington Post. Lesotho approved a 10-year license for Starlink shortly after Trump imposed a 50% tariff on its goods, expressing hope the move would show "goodwill" toward U.S. businesses. India, Pakistan, Vietnam, and others have also made favorable moves toward the Elon Musk-led venture during trade talks. A White House spokesperson emphasized ethical compliance and said trade decisions prioritize American interests. Musk, who oversees the Department of Government Efficiency Service, contributed $277 million to Trump-aligned campaigns last year.
