Bangers and Cash star to judge at Washington classic car show to help raise vital funds for club

The North East Restoration Club is hosting its annual classic car show.

00:00all the underneath has been done all the side panels have been done being stripped back to an

00:03absolute bare shell and the guy's painted it within the club and he's on to his last stage

00:09of now refitting the inside so it's a type 2 camper okay so what else have we got here then

00:14we're coming up here to um got a viva foxhole viva and this is bob's car and this is bob's

00:24actually got another three of these which he's fully restored in here folded and bolt

00:28and his last call is just one the practical classic restorer of the year which was restored in the

00:34club here um that history calls will be down on a show day on sunday um absolute blast from the pastor

00:41okay lovely restoration

00:46got over here we've got um it's an old spell mini is it yeah um so you see from the side it's a different

00:53type it's not just standard mini um it's based on a mini and this is lee's again

00:58um this was fully restored in here and painted in here um everything full front end shell underneath

01:05the body the floor and everything's been done on this car and as you can see lee's probably

01:10um somewhere near refitting and it was just painted a week and a half ago um in with spray

01:16booth at the side by lee himself and so he's done all his own work and will build up to really high

01:21standard and probably got a few more weeks of getting glass in and interior in and engines back into it

01:27and how long on average does it take to restore a car which came in in this sort of situation

01:31um any any depend on the edge of the car and availability of the panels and the parts and

01:36everything can sometimes depend on the restoration um i'd say lee i think he's been on this for about

01:41two years um restoring this one um depend on the standard you want to take them to as well

01:46um different cars take different amount of times depend on the age of the cars

01:50um and like i say again availability of ports but um if they need welding and they've done fully

01:55sandblasting and stuff probably a couple yeah okay then mike and just tell me about the classic car

02:01show coming on sunday then please uh yes the club has two classic car shops every year generally one in

02:07may one in september and this year's it is on the 11th of may which is sunday a couple of days time

02:14um the idea of the shows is to promote the club also to raise funds for the club and also raise some

02:23funds to replace the roof which we're busy doing at the moment um any classic car owners can attend

02:30the meeting as long as you get in before sort of 10 o'clock because the field gets very full you can

02:35generally uh get 100 cars in the field um we'll open the uh workshops up to the public so there's a

02:41small charge to come in and you can come through the workshops and see all the cars in restoration

02:47and they'll all be uncovered we'll also have our canteen supplying sandwiches and teas and things

02:54in the field we'll have some auto jumblers and i do believe we've got derek matheson from bangers and

03:01cash attending this sunday to do some presentations for the best car in short so it should be a really

03:07good day providing the weather's sort of with us
