00:04If you drive or intend to drive in the UAE, you must be aware of the traffic rules to be followed mandatorily.
00:11Failure to comply with the traffic rules and regulations in the UAE may result in hefty fines,
00:17negative points on your license, black points, revocation of your driver's license,
00:22imprisonment for major offenses, and vehicle impounding.
00:24The Road and Transport Authority, RTA, regulates and determines the registration, violations, and fines for motorists
00:33and is responsible for planning and providing the requirements of transport, roads, and traffic in the Emirate of Dubai
00:40and between Dubai and other emirates of the UAE and neighboring countries.
00:45UAE has a system of black points leading to confiscation of the driver's license.
00:49The maximum number of black points that a motorist can harbor is 24 points,
00:55and for serious offenses, the black points are as high as 23 points.
00:59A license may be suspended or the vehicle may be confiscated if the set limit has been reached.
01:05However, the license or vehicle may be seized for a specific period for certain offenses, even when the limit is exceeded.
01:12The Ministerial Decision No. 178 of 2017 on the Rules and Procedures on Traffic Controls as amended by the Ministerial Decision No. 243 of 2020
01:23lays down a set of penalties on the violators of the traffic rules in the UAE.
01:28In this video, we will mention some of the common vehicle fines in the UAE.
01:33Speed Violation
01:34Fines are imposed for not following the standard speed limits set for each road or highway.
01:40The fines for such violations usually range from 300 to 3,000 dirhams and or black points and or impounding the vehicle depending on the severity of the violations.
01:51Driver's obligations inside the vehicle
01:54Not ensuring necessary attention on the road by using mobile phones while driving
01:58Allowing children under 10 years old or shorter than 145 cm to be seated in the front seat of a vehicle
02:06Not installing child seats for children under 4 years old in the vehicle
02:11Not fastening the seat belt of the driver and passengers, etc.
02:15Are penalized offenses in the UAE
02:18The fines for such violations range from 400 to 800 dirhams and may also attract black points.
02:25Driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol
02:27It is strictly prohibited to drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs
02:31and the UAE has a zero-tolerance policy for such violations.
02:36The fine for driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol is decided by the court
02:40and attracts a maximum of 23 black points
02:43and the vehicle may also be impounded for 60 days.

02:49Breaking rules concerning the vehicle number plate

02:53Driving without a number plate
02:55Displaying the number plate at only one end of the car
02:58and violating the rules of using the commercial plate numbers.

03:14Fines are levied for driving in a manner that may potentially cause injury
03:19or inconvenience to other road users
03:21such as driving the vehicle in a way that jeopardizes the driver
03:25or others' lives or their safety or security
03:28Driving against the traffic direction
03:30Not maintaining lane discipline
03:32Non-compliance to traffic signs and directions
03:35Tailgating
03:37Causing serious accident or injuries leading to death or permanent injuries
03:41The fines for such violations start from 400 dirhams
03:45and in some cases the fines are decided by the court
03:47and or may attract black points
03:50and the vehicle may be confiscated depending on the severity of the violations.
03:54Non-compliance with the policeman's instructions
03:56Failing to follow the instructions of a police officer
04:00on the road is considered a violation.
04:03The fines for such violations usually range from 400 to 1,000 dirhams
04:08and or the vehicle being confiscated depending on the severity of the violations.
04:13Parking fines
04:14Parking violations include parking in a no parking zone
04:18Parking in a designated handicap zone without a permit
04:22Parking in a fire lane
04:23Parking on a pavement
04:25Parking without securing the vehicle
04:28Improper parking, etc.
04:30The fines for parking violations range from 400 to 1,000 dirhams
04:36and in some cases depending on the location and the severity of the violation
04:41it may attract black points as well.
04:43Road toll fines
04:45Salik is an electronic toll system that is used throughout UAE
04:49and the fines are levied on using a toll gate without sufficient credit in the account
04:54or without a Salik tag, etc.
04:56The fines for such violations begin from 100 dirhams
05:01Driver's license
05:02Driving with a license issued by a non-recognized foreign country
05:07Driving a vehicle with a driving license issued for a different category of vehicles
05:12Driving with an expired license
05:14Failing to surrender the license when the maximum black points are accumulated, etc.
05:19The fines for such violations range from 400 to 3,000 dirhams and or black points
05:26and or the vehicle may be confiscated depending on the severity of the violations
05:31Vehicles registration and traffic permits
05:33Fines are issued for operating industrial, construction, and mechanical vehicles and tractors
05:39without permission of the competent authority
05:41Driving a vehicle without insurance
05:43Driving an unlicensed vehicle from the traffic department
05:46Using vehicles for purposes other than the designated purpose
05:50Using the vehicle to carry and transport passengers without permission, etc.
05:56The fines for such violations usually range from 300 to 3,000 dirhams and or black points
06:02and the vehicle may be confiscated depending on the severity of the violations
06:06Pedestrian safety and priority vehicles
06:09Fines are imposed on motorists for not giving way or priority to emergency vehicles
06:16E. Ambulances, police cars, or official conveys
06:20And not giving priority to pedestrians on designated pedestrian crossings
06:25Vehicles coming from the back or the left side of the road, etc.
06:30The fines for such violations generally range from 400 to 1,000 dirhams
06:35and or may attract black points depending on the severity of the violations
06:39Overloading a vehicle
06:41Overloading a vehicle with passengers or cargo is illegal in the UAE
06:45The limit of load is already pre-set
06:48and the driver must ensure that the set limit is not exceeded
06:51The fine for overloading a vehicle generally ranges from 500 to 3,000 dirhams
06:56and or black points depending on the severity of the violations
07:00Environmental hazards
07:02Causing harm directly or indirectly to the environment such as
07:06Spillage of load from the heavy vehicles on the road
07:09Driving an ill-maintained or damaged vehicle causing pollution
07:14Throwing waste from vehicles onto the roads
07:16Using the horn when not required, etc.
07:20The fines for such violations range from 500 to 3,000 dirhams
07:25and or black points depending on the severity of the violations
07:29For brevity, the number of fines and the amounts may vary depending upon the emirate
07:34in which the violation has occurred and the severity of the offense
07:38Driving is considered a dangerous activity
07:41and the UAE has taken the aforementioned steps
07:44to ensure smooth and disciplined driving amongst the motorists
07:47In conclusion, motorists are advised to adhere to the rules and regulations
