00:00Well, in that Oval Office meeting between the president of the United States and the
00:04Prime Minister of Canada, no doubt you heard him talking about, President Trump, was talking
00:09about the governor of California, Gavin Newsom.
00:12And if you're Governor Newsom today, you're not having a good one after this.
00:17In California, a little train going from San Francisco to Los Angeles that's being run
00:24by Gavin Newsom, the governor of California.
00:27Did you ever hear of Gavin Newsom?
00:28Yeah, I'd love him to run for president on the other side.
00:32You know, I'd love to see that.
00:33But I don't think he's going to be running because that one project alone, well, that
00:37and the fires and a lot of other things pretty much put him out of the race.
00:43Oh, my goodness.
00:44Yeah, this is going on for Gavin Newsom at the same time.
00:47So I think probably Governor Newsom thought he was going to have a good day because he's
00:51calling out his own Democratic Party.
00:52And he thinks Democrats need to do a little self-reflection mirror.
00:57Anyway, here's a piece.
00:59We landed with a 107-day campaign with Kamala Harris.
01:04I thought she ran a very good campaign.
01:06It was a challenged campaign.
01:07Of course, we lost.
01:08We lost the popular vote and we lost the electoral vote.
01:11We got crushed.
01:12And we need to be humble about that.
01:14And we need to have some grace.
01:16And we need to understand why.
01:17Was it because of the incumbency penalty?
01:20Was it because of inflation?
01:21Was it because of interest rates?
01:22Was it because of immigration?
01:24Was it because we were too, quote, unquote, woke?
01:26Was it because of issues with Israel?
01:28Was it all of the above?
01:29I think we are going through that forensic.
01:32We need to understand at the same time, we also have to push back against the whitewaters
01:36and headwinds of the Trump administration.
01:38You could almost clip a chunk of that and run it behind what President Trump said a few
01:43minutes ago.
01:44You're done.
01:45And then he could tell us why.
01:46Gavin Newsom could.
01:48I mean, what's so interesting about it is that what he's saying, you know, the words he's
01:52saying is not necessarily untrue.
01:53I mean, you're right.
01:54You had a lot of issues that you guys failed on, and that's why you lost terribly in the
01:58election.
01:58But the problem is he has an authenticity issue.
02:01No one believes that Gavin Newsom is actually having an honest, deep reflection about this
02:06because he has been one of the main kind of proponents of a lot of these failed policies
02:11from the Democrat Party, especially the DEI stuff.
02:13He's like, are we too woke?
02:15Yeah, you are too woke, actually, Governor Newsom.
02:17I know.
02:18That's why I say grab a mirror.
02:19Emily.
02:19Yeah, I think, look, the two Californians on the couch can attest to the bubble that
02:24the governor exists in and always has.
02:26And I lived in San Francisco as he was mayor.
02:28And so, first of all, it's a little too late for this postmortem.
02:31And I find it not inauthentic, but I think just totally devoid of a wherewithal.
02:36If he's still questioning exactly what happened, then where have you been since November and
02:41where were you in the lead up?
02:42Because it is so obvious to the rest of America exactly why the Democrat Party lost.
02:46So I think he's framing it as like, we need to ask the questions.
02:50But at the end of the day, Californians needed answers a long time ago.
02:53And he just is squarely on the wrong side because he lives in such a petri dish.
02:58His decisions look good on paper for the establishment of the Democrat Party for lining
03:03him up to run for president.
03:05But in practicality and in application for Californians, they've been atrocious.
03:09Yeah, I know where he's been, where he was in November, trying to ignore Kamala Harris
03:14because he's probably going to face her.
03:16Well, that's that's also that was the point of his statement here to the BBC was to end
03:21her future presidential run.
03:23Did he do it?
03:24She did it herself.
03:26He's not doing her any favors.
03:28He's not doing himself any favors.
03:29But the people who are most underserved are the people whose lives were devastated by the
03:34wildfires, who are running up against not only bureaucratic incompetence, but also insurance
03:41companies who are being inhumane and absolutely cruel.
03:45He's doing a podcast while people continue to suffer.
03:49Wow.
03:49I want to run that on a loop.
03:51It's important.
03:52Bailey.
03:53Look, you have the resistance lane and the reasonable lane.
03:56And in the reasonable lane, you have Gavin Newsom and the reasonable lane, you have Gretchen
03:59Whitmer.
04:00The resistance lane, you have Tim Walls, Kamala Harris.
04:02I'd put her there.
04:03AOC, Bernie, the others.
04:04I would not underestimate Gavin Newsom.
04:06He has a horrible record in California.
04:07But that man is crafty.
04:09He has a way with words.
04:10I would not underestimate him.
