Vitor Pereira keeping spirits high amongst Wolves fans following Premier League win streak ending

It isn’t often that Premier League teams stage collective “celebrations” following defeats, but Wolverhampton Wanderers did just that at the Etihad Stadium—and it didn’t feel all that strange. Wolves are in a good place, and Pereira’s gesture reinforced the unity between the team and the fans. Even in the face of defeat, the spirit remains strong.

00:06but Wolverhampton Wanderers did just that at the Etihad Stadium and it didn't feel all that strange.

00:14As Manchester City claimed a 1-0 victory to end Wolves' six-game winning streak,

00:19Ryanair Norrie applauded the travelling supporters and began heading towards the tunnel,

00:24chatting with former Molyneux team-mate Mateus Nunez.

00:27His progress was interrupted by Vitor Pereira's coaching staff,

00:32who called him back to join the team in a gesture of solidarity.

00:36Led by Pereira, the players and staff walked towards their supporters,

00:40raised their hands in the air three times and initiated three loud cheers.

00:46Pereira even added a solo triple fist pump,

00:48mirroring the same gesture made after each of the previous six victories,

00:52but this time after a defeat.

00:54It may have seemed unusual, but it made perfect sense.

00:58In less than five months at Molyneux,

01:00Pereira has revitalised the club and reconnected the team with its supporters.

01:05Despite the narrow loss to the reigning Premier League champions,

01:10Pereira wasn't about to let it disrupt the momentum that he's built.

01:26because we came here with the mentality to compete.

01:32We cannot control the result,

01:34because in football it's impossible to control the result,

01:37but we can control our attitude on the pitch.

01:45cannot lose our spirit, we cannot lose our ambition.

01:49Although Wolves' XG was low, the match told a different story.

01:54They hit the woodwork twice and had chances cleared off the line.

01:58While the result was disappointing, it was far from a poor performance.
