In an old neighborhood, there was an elderly woman who placed a loaf of bread on her window ledge every morning for a poor person to take. Days passed, and no one ever thanked her—except for an old man who would silently take the bread each day.
One day, she became frustrated and thought, “I’ll put a little poison in the bread and be done with it!” But her conscience stopped her. She repented and placed the bread as usual.
The next day, someone knocked on her door. It was her long-lost son, looking exhausted. He said, “I was lost in the desert and starving, when an old man gave me a loaf of bread, saying, ‘A kind woman gives me this every morning.’”
Moral: Never regret doing good. God may return it to you when you need it most.
