00:00Too soon?
00:02Yes.
00:02That's the phrase.
00:04Too soon.
00:05But here we go.
00:07There is a new musical that will be opening next month.
00:11It is called Luigi the Musical.
00:13And it is not about Mario Brothers or anything.
00:17It is about Luigi Mangione.
00:19And this play is going to be opening in San Francisco.
00:21No, this is not part of the play.
00:23Well, maybe it is.
00:23I'm sure it has to be part of the play.
00:26Actually, I don't know how it starts.
00:28But the tagline is that it's about love, murder, and hash browns.
00:33Clearly a reference to the fact that he was caught at McDonald's eating hash browns.
00:37Exactly.
00:38So it's sold out.
00:39It opens in San Francisco, I think.
00:41Fifteen days.
00:43Fifteen days.
00:43Sold out.
00:45And I'm assuming they're going to take this on the road and the goal.
00:47Sorry, five days.
00:48It was five days.
00:49Yeah.
00:49And to take it on the road, I'm assuming the goal is ending up in New York on Broadway.
00:55But it is getting attention.
01:00And now the question, is it tasteful?
01:02Does it have to be tasteful?
01:04Is it too soon?
01:04We're going to get into that question.
01:06Here is a little sample of what they're going to be doing in this play.
01:12The chief is from in the glistock in Brownsville and Brown Heights.
01:20It's not inside a warehouse.
01:24Early rehearsals.
01:26I think the tempo's got to be a little more...
01:29They've got to get it a little up.
01:30You know, they've got to work on this.
01:31What's interesting here, Luigi is not the only notorious figure that is featured in this play.
01:40Because I guess it sounds like they're doing part of it set in the prison where he is being detained now.
01:47With another famous prisoner.
01:49A couple of them.
01:50Diddy.
01:51Two.
01:51And Sam Bankman-Fried.
01:53Right.
01:53You brought up Diddy.
01:54The weird thing about the Diddy casting is that a black woman is going to be playing Diddy.
01:59I found that to be very weird given the circumstances of...
02:03Well, it's very Hamilton-esque.
02:05Yes.
02:05Sure.
02:06You don't have to...
02:07It doesn't have to be right on the nose.
02:08It doesn't have to be right on the nose.
02:10But given the reason why Diddy is in prison, I just found it very ironic that a black woman is playing Diddy.
02:15And you guys also mentioned the reaction to this play.
02:19A lot of people online are not happy with this.
02:21I think it's sold out.
02:22But a lot of...
02:23They're getting a lot of backlash.
02:24So much so...
02:25Which they want.
02:26Maybe so.
02:27Maybe so.
02:27Maybe not.
02:28Because they've turned off their comments on social media.
02:30I've been trying to reach out to them all day to see if they want to come on the show.
02:34Have not heard back from them.
02:35And I was feeling like this would be such an easy opportunity...
02:38No kidding.
02:38...to promote this play that's coming out.
02:40Yeah.
02:41I think they maybe underestimated the controversy.
02:45Oh, come on.
02:46I'm sure they wanted some controversy.
02:47Look, that's why they came up with this.
02:49They had to know this was controversial.
02:52I mean, come on.
02:52I mean, anybody would know that.
02:55But it's also not surprising that it sold out.
02:57Because as we've been discussing since the time...
03:00Well, the theater that they're selling out is like 50 seats.
03:02Well, as we've been discussing since this crime happened, the wave of support for Luigi...
03:10Millions of people.
03:11Right.
03:11And especially young people.
03:12And you know what?
03:13There are probably people who are just curious.
03:16How would they do a play like that?
03:18You almost want to go to be offended.
03:20But, you know, there's a thing in comedy where people say there's no such thing as too soon.
03:25You know, comics have said that.
03:26They've said that to us.
03:27Sure.
03:27And especially, you know, when everybody was getting cancelled, we had some of them on
03:32the show and they were saying, screw that.
03:34And I'm sure there are people who will say the same for this.
03:36Absolutely.
03:36It's not too soon.
03:37And, you know, and...
03:38And there's nothing too soon, is what they say.
