00:00hi everyone I'm sitting at my tripod I thought it was set up and then it fell
00:13over so here we go happy Friday
00:20good to see you all good to be here and I figured last week I went live and I wanted to go live
00:31again while more of you now are at home I guess because we're just all in our homes right now
00:37most of us are a lot of us are there still may be some states I don't know that aren't in quarantine
00:43yet but I just feel right now in this time it's important for you all to see faces so I wanted
00:50to come on and just share a few little tips that can help you stay well and maybe decrease
01:03any anxiety you may be feeling I don't want to assume that you're feeling it some of you may
01:12some of you may not I know for me I have moments and so I again I'm just going personal and sharing
01:19some things that I'm doing and hopefully that it will help maybe one or two of you
01:25um on our page on my personal page that I have called the soul fit lifestyle my husband and I
01:33um have that page and we've been going live quite a bit um I shared today how um I woke up grouchy
01:42yeah I woke up grouchy um that doesn't happen for me a lot um and so I wanted I was thinking
01:51how I handle that that maybe this might be a helpful tip for a few people on our unveiled page
02:01that um you may want to try it so um this week has been an interesting week for us my husband and I
02:10have been changing our schedule quite a bit because we're working with clients online and virtually
02:16and we've been doing videos and so we're getting into bed um a little bit later than usual and um
02:24we're getting up well at least I'm getting up earlier than usual and um yesterday I could tell that I was
02:34feeling a little off um there were a few moments in the day that I just wanted to cry and I was like
02:41why why do I just want to cry like it wasn't even really anything big that was making me want to cry
02:46it was just little things and I thought okay this is interesting um and I told my husband last night
02:53I'm like babe I think I'm just feeling really tired and so um I want to make sure I'm in bed at our
02:59normal time tonight so we try to be in bed no later than 10 and this phone keeps moving that's why I
03:04keep moving around um we try to be in bed by 10 o'clock and um I usually I'm not an early morning
03:12I'm gonna admit I'm not an early morning riser I'm not up at 4 30 5 o'clock 5 30 my good time is around
03:206 30 and that's okay that's where I am right now so um when you're reading recommendations of oh
03:27you know you need to get this amount of sleep uh it's a guideline but it changes for you and what
03:36works for you now may not be the same next year so just be aware of that just be aware your body
03:42will let you know um what its sleep requirements are so um I know for me that's my good time zone
03:49and my time frame in bed around 10 up by 6 30 sometimes even 7 o'clock sometimes I need that extra 30
03:56minutes so um this morning we needed to be up even earlier and walk our dogs I call them our boys
04:06because my husband's first client was at 8 o'clock I didn't set an alarm and I felt him get out of bed
04:16but I fell back asleep and I was in such a good sleep oh my gosh I was sleeping so good I was even
04:22dreaming well he came in to get me up so that we could get ready to get the dogs walked and so
04:31I was in that dreaming state and then I was awakened so then I was half asleep and groggy because you know
04:38how it is when you're sleeping good and you get awakened and you're not really expecting it it takes
04:43a little bit of time to wake up so that was me I was got up and you know I usually have a routine that
04:50I do in the morning and I just wasn't feeling that routine I was like I I I'm too tired I'm half
04:57asleep and again I'm very aware of my language so I knew I felt tired and it's easy to go oh my gosh
05:05I'm tired I'm tired I'm tired and just let that repeat over and over in your brain and guess what
05:11you feel even more tired so I I'm aware of that and I tried not to dwell on that so I knew I was tired
05:18I'm like okay I'm just gonna get ready I'm going to drink my water brush my teeth wash my face get my
05:25clothes on and I was being very quiet because for me when I'm tired and when I feel a little grouchy
05:32I'm quiet I go a little bit inward so my husband and I got the dogs ready got their leashes on and I
05:43still was being very quiet because I was feeling this grouchiness arise in me as well and I was like
05:48oh I don't want to be grouchy so let's just let's just get the dogs walked um so we were standing at
05:55the corner waiting to cross um one of the main streets and um my husband was like good morning
06:01babe and I was like good morning I said I'm a little quiet I said I'm feeling really tired I said I was
06:08sleeping really good when you came back in and so I'm in this groggy state and he said okay babe well
06:16maybe take a nap this afternoon I said I think I will I didn't let him know that I was feeling the
06:21grouchy feeling arise because I figured I could handle that with myself um I've learned when I'm
06:27feeling emotions and feelings that I don't get upset at myself because I'm feeling that way but what I do is
06:35I get curious I go hmm okay I'm feeling grouchy or I'm feeling sad or I'm feeling anxious or I'm
06:44feeling depressed whatever the emotion is that I might be feeling I get curious about it because for
06:50me I've learned for most feelings and emotions there's usually a reason that it's happening
07:00our food may be off our water intake may be off our sleep may be off um we may be fighting a little
07:10infection in our body but usually anytime there's you know an emotion or a feeling uprising it's
07:17usually there's usually a reason so I get curious about it I've learned over the last few years to
07:26track I track my food I don't get real detailed about it but I have a day I should have brought
07:31it in I I'll take a picture um I have a daily journal that I still write in and it has the hours
07:38of the day in it so I'll just keep track of okay I ate this at this time I drank coffee here so I keep
07:45track of a gym so I have a general idea of what I've been eating um because I know that foods can
07:52trigger emotions and feelings so I like to go back and see what I could have eaten and then I go and
07:58see then if there's a pattern happening with a certain food because then that lets me know my
08:05body doesn't want that food so we have to know our bodies and we do need to track um whatever way would
08:13work for you some people are all about technology and they use their phones and things like that I still
08:19like to write things down I also have in my journal in my daily journal um a calendar of the month so
08:27I also make notes in that of more like oh I was feeling tired today or this is where I'm at in my
08:35cycle I keep things like that in the monthly journal on the daily journal I keep track of my food and my
08:43activity and you know if I did an epsom salt bath so
08:48I got curious with the feeling of grouchiness and was going to do my routine and I thought
08:57I just I just can't um and I won't I don't always encourage you to go by your feelings because
09:05we all know that our feelings can come and we can just ride that feeling and just use it for a week or
09:12two so but what I am saying is sometimes it's okay to step back because we may need to change
09:19something we may need a little rest for me I usually do a motivational youtube I do some journaling I do
09:26my bible reading I drink my coffee um I do some kind of 20 minute cardio but that wasn't happening today
09:33and it was okay so we got back to the house and um I noticed that I started having some pain
09:41like I was having the beginning of a UTI and I had felt this a few days ago and then I was okay so
09:49I started feeling that again and I was like okay that's interesting I think I'm gonna take a hot soak
09:58just to like chill for 30 minutes so I fill the bathtub up I have an epsom salt routine that I like
10:07I do epsom salt bath some baking soda apple cider vinegar
10:10bentonite clay and today I added some lemon essential oil so I soaked for 30 minutes and put on just some
10:19really good music to soothe myself um finished off with the cold rinse and got ready and I
10:26was feeling better with that that was subsiding but then I started feeling some intestinal discomfort
10:33and I thought you know what I'm just gonna go lay down for a little while I'm just gonna my body is
10:39letting me know that it needs some self-care and I want to pay attention so I went and I
10:44laid down for about an hour and I dozed off and when I woke up I was feeling better I'm not feeling a
10:51hundred percent but definitely feeling okay I'm ready for this day
10:55okay so I want to encourage you when you have the emotions when you have the feelings get curious
11:03um is there a reason why are you tired you know even though we're adults we still have that inner
11:11child in us you know how children are when they get tired they either cry a lot they get grouchy they
11:16throw temper tantrums well we're not supposed to throw temper tantrums as adults
11:21but we do experience some of those emotions of like okay I just want to cry and sometimes you
11:28just need to cry and it's okay um I would say if you feel grouchy try to be aware of that like I
11:35my husband and I communicate very well and so I told him I was like honey I'm feeling off today I'm
11:42having some pain I don't I'm not sure what's going on so I'm just going to be quiet I'm going to take a
11:47bath and then I'm going to go lay down so I would encourage you as well like whoever you live
11:53under the same roof with communicate with them don't just catch them off guard by you having a
12:00moment or being grouchy with them let them know say hey I'm feeling off today I'm not sure why
12:05I'm going to figure it out um but just wanted to give you a heads up if I'm not myself this is why
12:11so communicate that with people that you live under the same roof with even if it's your children
12:16I you know my parents were um prime examples of living that out they would always let us know
12:24if they weren't feeling a hundred percent so that you know we would be aware and we would understand
12:30maybe if they were quiet or not as talkative so communicate with people be curious go okay this is
12:38interesting I'm feeling grouchy right now okay let's maybe try to figure out why I could be feeling
12:44grouchy um right now in these times it may be anxiety so okay I'm feeling anxious today I'm feeling
12:52some anxiety rise up in me um what have I been listening to what have I been watching have I had
12:58the news on in the background all day long um am I just reading and reading news and what's going on
13:06you know it you need to be informed during these times however we also need to limit how much we're
13:12letting that outside world speak into us because fear and anxiety and panic will rise up and so we
13:20have to be aware of that are we are we getting as much of God's word in us as we are man's word
13:27right now it would be easy to have a lot of man's word speaking into our lives in our minds so make sure
13:34you're getting good words from God during this time I'm loving social media especially Facebook
13:42because there's so many people going live and singing hymns and giving devotional so right now
13:49you I feel during this time have so many options of God's word being spoken into your life so make
13:58sure you're getting those words into you more than CNN Fox CNBC MSNBC Twitter all of those because
14:09that will cause our emotions to rise and rise in a negative way so be curious see see what you did
14:17yesterday because usually if we're feeling a certain way today it's something from yesterday or the day
14:22before a lot of times it could be food related so keep a track of keep a journal keep track of what
14:28you've been putting into your body if you've been moving around are you just sitting or are you
14:33getting out once in a while are you getting some fresh air are you getting some sunshine are you
14:37getting a walk-in you know how's your activity get some activity in and then make sure you're eating
14:43nutritious nutrient dense food make sure you're getting a lot of vegetables in getting some good fruit in
14:52some good fats olive oil avocado grass-fed grass-finished butter I like Kerry gold butter Trader Joe's carries it
15:04I love my good butter so get some good butter and some good fats and some healthy meat some beans some rice
15:13some bone broth make sure you're getting a lot of nutrient-dense food try to avoid the processed food like
15:20the things that I would share and that I've shared all along those are still good food
15:26um I don't want to say rules I don't like the word rules but good um habits to have you know avoiding
15:34the sugar avoiding anything that comes out of a box avoiding a lot of grains a lot of bread a lot of
15:41things that could cause inflammatory responses in your body which could bring on the anxiety the fear
15:48the depression um let me look real quick I had a little note here um yeah so vegetables fruits
15:58beans kidney beans lentils make a big old pot of of beans make some homemade cornbread too you can tell
16:04my grandparents were from the south um seeds and nuts macadamia nuts pecans pistachios walnuts pumpkin
16:13seeds sesame seeds sunflower seeds ground flax seeds um chia seeds um brazil nuts um almonds um get some
16:24again I mentioned the healthy fats coconut oil avocado oil cold pressed olive oil macadamia nut olives
16:31um some good eggs and um wild caught fish some quality protein make sure you're getting those nutrient
16:41dense foods in to help your body be at its optimum self during this time make sure you're getting a
16:50lot of good water um herbal teas um if your body likes coffee drink some quality coffee however make
16:58sure you're not drinking it too late in the day so that it's keeping you awake at night and you're not
17:03getting good sleep make sure you're sleeping well um having an evening routine to where you're not
17:10watching the news right before you get in bed where you're not scrolling through social media right
17:15before you go to bed you know turn everything off light some candles put on some good music
17:21in the background um just sat and calm yourself and have some good scriptures that speak to your heart
17:29and your mind right now in this time um you know do that in the evening so that you have peaceful sleep
17:36because he did say he would give his people rest and sleep so um ask and it will be given unto you
17:45you know we have not because we ask not if we're not sleeping i'll just say you know heavenly father
17:51i'm your daughter and i'm needing some good sleep so i ask that you would calm my soul
17:56and help me to be able to rest in you tonight because our hope and our trust
18:01is in our almighty savior our heavenly father who's got all of this in his hands and he
18:09will take care of us we've never seen the righteous forsaken nor is seed begging bread
18:14nope that's a promise so write out those promises and make sure you have a promise go to
18:23when you start to have some feelings of anxiety arise or fear or depression um and i know that's a lot
18:31and i wanted to just come live and let you see a face um because i know some of us are feeling
18:38isolated right now i i heard something the other day um maybe flip the perspective maybe instead of
18:46saying social distancing let's flip it and say we're we are having distant socialization so we're
18:55still socializing it's just from a distance and so make sure you're checking in with people every day
19:01make sure um you're calling loved ones families and friends and don't just talk about covid19 when
19:08you're on the phone or you're on facetime or your zoom call talk about other things talk about good
19:13books you're reading talk you know if you're if you're not reading a good book maybe find one
19:17um are you you know what fun things have you done in your home since you've had this extra time at
19:23home are you cleaning any closets are you organizing like what are you doing or maybe you know have a
19:29fun challenge or play a fun game there's technology has given us so many ways to do things even
19:35though we're not in the same room so just make sure you're reaching out you're connecting and i know
19:41those of us um here at unveiled we are praying for you you're in our thoughts we're here for you if we
19:48can do anything to help you um just let us know um and we're very thankful for you and we will get
19:56through this we will be well it is well with our soul yes love you and i hope you all have a great
