00:00We're here with Holesley manager Ryan Hall after tonight's Torridge Cup final defeat to Torridge side which the North Devon side won 3-0.
00:08Ryan, a tough evening at the office.
00:10Yeah, it was a tough game. We always knew it was going to be a tough game coming into it.
00:14They're a good side, they've got some really good players going forward and we always knew it was going to be a tough game.
00:19I thought tonight, I think on the balance of play we probably edged it slightly but it's key decisions that we've got wrong tonight which has cost us this final unfortunately.
00:29The first half in particular was very cagey with neither goalkeeper really tested.
00:34Obviously they got to the lead sort of five minutes before half-time with a fantastic free kick but I guess it's one of those from your point of view which was easily avoided.
00:43Yeah, exactly and like I say, key thing with all three goals I think could have been avoided tonight, not just that one.
00:50Yeah, it's a silly error, it's a suck of punch just before half-time and it's really deflated us as I thought we were starting to get on top and a bit of a grip of the game.
00:58Yeah, it's one of those things. It's local football at the end of the day.
01:03These things happen, you make wrong decisions and when you've got players of Liam Short's quality you're going to get punished if you give them too many opportunities.
01:11Obviously in the first half you didn't really test their goalkeeper at all. What was the chat at half-time to try and rectify that?
01:17We said at half-time we wanted to play a little bit more football, get a bit of control of the game, put our foot on the ball and try and play in the two thirds of the pitch as we thought they were weaker in the wide areas.
01:28But they made it very cagey, they did well as well to be fair, they disrupted it and we couldn't ever really get the ball down and do what we wanted to do.
01:37In the second half there was a similar pattern where unfortunately their keeper wasn't tested again. How do you think about that now? Is it a case of just not quite the players settling on the night?
01:50Yeah, I think so. But I think that's both sides to be fair. I don't think Ryan's made a save all evening either.
01:56It's come down to those fine margins, a free kick, a penalty and an indecision when we're trying to push forward right at the end.
02:02So, I mean, yeah, it's fine margins, isn't it, in the game. I don't think they've, you know, if you're asking them the same question you're asking me, they've won it and they've not worked our keeper either.
02:14So yeah, it's one of those, unfortunately.
02:17In the second half you sort of didn't change, didn't change with starting 11 until quite midway through the half. Was that a deliberate tactic or is it just a case you thought that you were gradually getting on top of it?
02:27Yeah, I thought for the first 20 minutes of the second half, I thought we were on top and we were coming on to it.
02:32I just thought we got a sucker punch right at the end of that spell. Just as we were getting on top, the penalty came and that's killed us really.
02:41And then we changed it from, you know, 3-5-2 up to 4-3-3.
02:45And then obviously, but overall, obviously a decent season for the club, the highest ever finish in the South West Peninsula League.
02:51I guess overall it's a case of a great season, but a disappointing end.
02:55Yeah, it's a disappointing evening, but I said to the lads then, I said, get your heads up.
02:58We've got a lot of young lads and I just said, we've had a really good season.
03:01It's probably one of the better seasons we've had for a long time in the league.
03:05And I just said, just learn from these mistakes, learn from this evening, be better and take it on to next season where hopefully we look to kick on a bit.
