In remarks at the Emerge Gala in San Francisco, California, on Wednesday, former Vice President Kamala Harris spoke about a video of elephants at the  San Diego Zoo.

00:05Who saw that video from a couple of weeks ago?

00:08The one of the elephants at the San Diego Zoo during the earthquake?

00:15Google it if you've not seen it.

00:18So that scene has been all monarchy.

00:22Everybody's asking me what you've been thinking about these days.

00:24Well,

00:24so in the video, for those who haven't seen it, here's what those elephants were.

00:34And as soon as they felt the earth shaking beneath their feet,

00:39they got in a circle and stood next to each other to protect the most vulnerable.

00:49Think about it.

00:51What a powerful metaphor.

00:54Because, Lena, those who try to incite fear are most effective when they divide and conquer,

01:09when they separate the herd,

01:14when they try to make everyone think they are alone.

01:18But in the face of crisis,

01:24the lesson

01:25is don't,

01:27don't scatter.

01:31The instinct

01:32has to be

01:34to immediately find

01:37and connect with each other.

01:40And to know that the circle

01:42will be strong.
