Catholics in Darwin come together to farewell Pope Francis

Darwin’s catholic community has come together to officially farewell Pope Francis. The memorial mass is a celebration of the multiculturalism and inclusion that Pope Francis promoted, as the diocese found comfort in each other’s company.

00:27A large portion of parishioners travelled from the Tiwi Islands.

00:31A largely Catholic community who've had close brushes with previous papal leaders.

00:36A unifying blend of Aboriginal and Catholic cultures on display.

00:41We are happy to come and share our bit of culture with everyone tonight here at the Cathedral.

01:18For others, Pope Francis was key in bringing people into the church and creating a more inclusive environment.

01:34And he had a love for young people and migrants and the poor.

01:39And they just really touched my heart.

01:41He was a shepherd that changed the church from the conflict it was in into more of a pastoral, bringing everybody back in.
