00:00With the 2025 elections fast approaching, concerns over foreign interference are growing.

00:05The National Bureau of Investigation is now probing a Makati-based company allegedly linked to China

00:12and accused of managing troll farms aimed at influencing the vote.

00:17Lawmakers are calling for swift action to safeguard Philippine democracy.

00:21As our Melales Morris tells us more about the story.

00:25With an NBI probe underway on a company in Makati City allegedly contracted by China to manage troll farms

00:34tasked to interfere in the upcoming hatol ng Bayan 2025,

00:38House Makabayan Block member and Kabataan Partylist representative Raul Manuel

00:42hopes the issue will be resolved before the elections.

00:46Manuel said if the suspected motive is proven, this would have a seriously negative impact

00:51not only on the country's democracy but also on national security.

00:55The young lawmaker called on the authorities to look into not only China but also other foreign countries

01:01that may also be attempting to interfere in our elections.

01:13kasi hindi rin naman dapat pahintulutan yan.

01:29In a Strat-based Consultancy Commissioned SWS survey,

01:32it was revealed that three quarters or 75 percent of Filipino's polls said they prefer to vote for candidates

01:38who believe that the Philippines should assert its rights against China's aggressive actions,

01:43particularly in the West Philippine Sea.

01:46For House Deputy Speaker J.J. Suarez, this is proof that Filipinos truly want pro-Philippines candidates.

01:52He said,

01:53Now is the time to stand as one as this is a fight for sovereignty, the country's future, and its dignity as a nation.

02:00House Senior Deputy Speaker Aurelio Dong-Gonzalez Jr. also agrees,

02:04emphasizing that hopefully the survey results will also reflect in the midterm election results.
