00:00Last week, all five of the new Tynumwea metro trains were pulled from service and has received some backlash.
00:07Cathy Massarella, Managing Director of Nexus and Lucius Gerig, CEO of Stadler Switzerland said,
00:13Introducing the new fleet of trains is the biggest project in the history of the Tynumwea metro.
00:18It's an extremely complex process for any organisation to deliver and Stadler and Nexus are working closely together to do this.
00:26We have identified an issue linked to the operation of the doors.
00:29The standard operational procedure regarding opening and closing of the doors on the new fleet is different to that of the existing fleet,
00:37and we need to investigate the impact on this further.
00:40As a result, the new trains and service have been temporarily suspended.
00:44During the introduction of any new fleet, issues like this will occur.
00:48We are working together to resolve this as quickly and effectively as possible to deliver the best trains for our customers.
00:55The solution will determine the timescale and we can't confirm this yet.
00:59However, we don't expect this will impact on the rollout programme.

01:08Nexus have confirmed that they still have enough of the old trains to run the full timetable whilst the new fleet is out of service.
01:14Kevin Dickinson of the Sought Out the Metro Campaign Group has said that there have been numerous promises made and not met,
01:21and called on Operator Nexus to be more open about the problems, with the maiden voyage having been delayed from summer 2023 to December 2024.
01:30He added, given the delays already experienced and significant testing before the trains entered service, this is very disappointing.
