00:00And as Terrell Fortune, the heavyweight, who joins us now,
00:02we're looking forward to seeing him make his Lights Out debut.
00:05He'll be the one headlining that card against Carl Siamantufa.
00:10Sorry, I've butchered that probably many times.
00:13But Terrell, thanks so much for joining us.
00:15We appreciate your time.
00:16We're looking forward to seeing your debut with Lights Out.
00:18Now, you're a guy who's, of course, been fighting for a while.
00:21You've been fighting in many organizations for a long time with Bellator.
00:24Had a couple fights with the PFL.
00:26So what drew you now to come in here and fight with Lights Out
00:30and fight for Sean Merriman and this organization?
00:33Main thing is I wanted to leave PFL to have an opportunity to fight in the UFC.
00:39So Lights Out is just my road to the UFC
00:42and trying to just get as many fights as I can to make that happen.
00:47And, you know, Merriman's a guy who is great with that,
00:50who has been very, you know, outspoken with that.
00:51A lot of promoters, obviously, they're going to want to hold on to guys
00:54as much as they can.
00:55You know, you're their commodity.
00:57Without you, they don't have, you know, fans watching.
00:59They don't have guys that want to see these fights.
01:02So for a name like you to be coming into Lights Out
01:04and, you know, Merriman to be absolutely okay with, you know,
01:08a guy like you saying, hey, this is just a stop.
01:10We've had many Lights Out fighters.
01:12They all talk about wanting to make it up to, you know, the UFC,
01:15make it to, you know, the best of the best.
01:18So how important do you think it is to have a guy like Merriman
01:21running this organization who is not only open,
01:24but encouraging his fighters to, you know,
01:26have goals that are well beyond, you know,
01:29what he's putting out there right now?
01:31For fighters, we need promoters like him.
01:33I mean, he makes that process easier
01:36and he understands the journey that we're on.
01:38So it makes it a lot easier for a fighter
01:40to be able to come and commit to a company
01:42that they know where your end goal is
01:44and know what journey you're on.
01:45So it was a perfect fit for me to come here and join Lights Out.
01:49And we're looking forward to seeing your first fight.
01:51When you look at the, you know,
01:52the fights that you've had over the years in Bellator,
01:54I mean, you've had plenty of big names
01:55that people have watched for years, you know,
01:57guys like Linton Vassal, Mitrione, Tim Johnson.
02:01You know, what are some of the favorite fights
02:02that you've had so far in your career?
02:04You know, with obviously a great record at 14-3,
02:06you've made great runs against some big names
02:08that people have known from, you know, not just Bellator,
02:11but of course have come from the UFC
02:12and other organizations before.
02:14What are some of the favorite fights
02:15that you've had so far in your career
02:16as, you know, you continue to try to move on and move up?
02:21I would say any fight that I won.
02:23I mean, not really even,
02:24I would say more of the fights that I lost too
02:26because those were probably the biggest growing phases for me
02:29is going back and then figuring out how to deal with it
02:32and then just growing from that, you know.
02:35I mean, you learn the most when you lose.
02:37The wins are, they just go by,
02:39but the losses stick with you for a little bit.
02:41So I would say the losses for me,
02:44the one with Linton, Tim Johnson,
02:46and even this last one where I got caught in a heel hook
02:49at the beginning of the fight.
02:51So it was just, those are the biggest learning phases for me.
02:54So I'd say the losses stick with me the most.
02:58Spoken like a true veteran,
02:59I think, you know, you have that experience
03:01that you have 14-3.
03:03You know, you've seen a lot over the years
03:04training for that.
03:05You know, how do you feel where you are
03:07in your career right now?
03:07You know, do you feel like maybe, you know,
03:10obviously you're always going to feel great,
03:11hopefully, you know, physically,
03:13you know, besides the obvious nicks and bruises
03:14and things that you get training for fights
03:16because you're never going to be at 100%
03:17when you're, you know, your job is,
03:19you know, you fight to train to fight.
03:21But how are you feeling now as a vet,
03:23you know, at your age
03:24and having seen all these different styles,
03:26different fights, different places,
03:27mentally where you are,
03:28do you feel like you're, you know,
03:29at your best that you've ever been
03:30just from your experience
03:32and what you've learned over these years?
03:33No, I think I'm still getting better every day.
03:37I don't even consider myself a vet.
03:38I would say I'm more like a sophomore,
03:41you know what I'm saying, or a junior.
03:43I'm just like Michael Jordan.
03:44I just went bald, you know what I'm saying?
03:45So I just cut the hair off
03:46and now it's time for me
03:47to go on a championship run.
03:50I'm just looking for the opportunity
03:51to prove myself as one of the best in the world.
03:53So that's really all I'm here for.
03:56Now you're facing your opponent,
03:57obviously, as we talked about,
03:59you know, he's got years on you.
04:00He's even more experienced than that.
04:01He's been around.
04:02He's also fought Bellator, PFL,
04:04you know, different organizations.
04:05What have you seen from,
04:07he obviously doesn't have the same
04:08impressive record that you have,
04:09but what have you seen
04:10as you watch and prepare for him
04:12that makes you excited for this fight?
04:15Like you said, he's a tough guy.
04:16He's been around for a very long time.
04:19He's had a lot of experienced fights
04:21with guys who come from UFC, Bellator, PFL as well.
04:26So, no, I'm just excited to see what he brings.
04:28He seems more like an old-style Muay Thai fighter.
04:32With his high guard, low kicks,
04:34a hook, you know, and a little bit of overhand.
04:36So I'm just excited to fight the style
04:38and fight the guy and see what he brings.
04:40So I've been to you.
04:41I'm just going to do it.
04:57I'm just going to do it.
