00:17China interfered with the Philippines and was also trying to influence the 2025 elections

00:22as they wanted a pro-China majority in the 2025 Senate.

00:26He did not name the, quote, pro-China senators or candidates, but seemed to be referring to those allied with former President Rodrigo Duterte.

00:35Talentino led a Senate probe where he alleged that the Chinese embassy in Manila hired a local marketing firm

00:41to push Beijing's propaganda on Philippine social media.

00:45At the same hearing, security officials also say there were, quote,

00:49indications of Chinese state-backed efforts to sway the results of the upcoming May 12 elections.

00:55ACT-CIS representative Irwin Tulfo says it was obvious that China wanted to control both the Senate and the House of Representatives.

01:04Meantime, former Senator Ping Lakson, a retired police officer with a background in intelligence,

01:09says the situation is, quote, scarier than we think.
