00:11Najib's lead counsel, Tan Sri Mohammed Shafi Abdullah, informed Judge Datuk Colin Lawrence

00:17Sequeira in the Kuala Lumpur High Court on Wednesday that a recent development during

00:22an interview with Ung prompted the defense to request that his testimony be heard in

00:26court.

00:27The prosecution did not object to the request.

00:31Justice Sequeira ruled that Ung may be called to testify, notwithstanding the existence of

00:36a restrictive order issued by a United States court.

00:40Ung was convicted in New York for aiding in the embezzlement of $1 million and sentenced

00:45to 10 years in prison.

00:47On October 30 last year, Justice Sequeira ruled that the prosecution had established a prima

00:53facie case, ordering Najib to enter his defense.

00:57Najib is facing 25 charges, including four counts of abusing his position to accept

01:032.3 billion ringgit in bribes from 1MDB funds and 21 charges of money laundering involving

01:10the same amount.
