Six years after he was charged, Datuk Seri Najib Razak will find out tomorrow (Oct 30) whether he will be acquitted or called to enter his defence on four counts of abusing his position for the gratification of RM2.28bil from the coffers of 1MDB and 21 counts of money laundering involving the same monies.

00:00The KL High Court will decide tomorrow whether to acquit or order Datuk Seri Najib Razak
00:07to enter his defence on four charges of using his position to obtain gratification totalling
00:132.28 billion ringgit in 1MDB funds and 21 money laundering charges involving the same

00:21Justice, Datuk Colin Lawrence Sequeira, who has since been elevated to the Court of Appeal,
00:27is scheduled to deliver the decision at 9am.
00:31On May 30, the prosecution closed its case after calling 50 witnesses in the six-year
00:36trial that began on August 28, 2019.
00:41Some of the high-profile witnesses were former Bank Negara Governor Tan Sri Zeti Akhtar Aziz,
00:47former 1MDB CEO Datuk Shahrol Azral Ibrahim Halmy, and former 1MDB Chairman Tan Sri Mohamed
00:54Bakasala.
00:56Najib has been in Kajang prison since August 23, 2022, after being convicted of misappropriating
01:0342 million ringgit from SRC International Sendrian Bahad.
01:09Last Thursday, he expressed remorse about the 1MDB scandal in a letter read at a press
01:14conference by his son, but maintained he had no knowledge of illegal transfers from the
01:19now-defunct state fund.
