Labor pledges $78m to fast track trade qualifications, if elected

Labor will again focus on housing today, announcing a new initiative to increase the construction workforce.

00:11With that in mind, Labor is today announcing, if re-elected, they'll spend $78 million over

00:17four years to fast-track the qualifications process for 6,000 tradies.

00:22In making the announcement today, Labor is referencing research from Master Builders

00:26Australia, which suggests that for every new tradie, 2.4 new homes will be built per year.

00:33This program will allow tradies to fast-track their qualification process through fee-free

00:38TAFE courses.

00:39The Prime Minister is expected to spend the day travelling before more announcements this

00:43afternoon.
