00:00Hey, it's Andre Gardner from Classic Rock 102.9 MGK, and I would like to introduce you to Dr. Nicole Kuhar.
00:07She was born and raised in Upper Township, New Jersey, right outside of Ocean City, New Jersey.
00:12She got her undergraduate degree from Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York, and she completed medical school at Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Blacksburg, Virginia.
00:21Dr. Kuhar completed her family medicine residency training at Virtua Voorhees Hospital, and she chose family medicine because of the opportunity to build relationships with her patients and the ability to see patients of all ages.
00:35She really enjoys chronic disease management and preventative medicine, and we are very excited to have her with us this afternoon.
00:41Dr. Kuhar, thank you so much for joining me.
00:44Thank you so much for having me.
00:45Well, it's our pleasure.
00:46Now, you know, having great, consistent primary care is so important to help you stay your healthiest.
00:51Can you give us some things to expect when we're seeing a primary care physician?
00:56Absolutely.
00:57So primary care physicians are extremely important because we kind of take a look at the whole patient.
01:02We'll screen you based on your family history and your individual risk factors so that we can make sure we're up to date on routine screenings as well as cancer screenings.
01:11At your family medicine office, they can offer you annual physical exams, mental health resources, discussions about diet and exercise, as well as chronic disease management for things like diabetes, high blood pressure, anxiety, and depression.
01:29And so we're able to also refer to specialists when needed.
01:34And ultimately, our goal is to keep our patients healthy and try to avoid unnecessary hospitalizations.
01:40So having routine follow-ups with your primary care physician is really important because it can help keep you out of the hospital and kind of up-to-date on all your routine screenings.
01:49And obviously, it's very important to have a good relation with your primary care physician.
01:54What are the most important questions that we need to ask our primary care doctor?
01:59Honestly, no questions off limits.
02:02Each encounter with your primary care doctor is individualized and unique for each patient.
02:08You can talk about things regarding skin issues, weight loss, fatigue, any acute concerns that you're having on any individual day.
02:16Sometimes it may take a few follow-up appointments or extra workup and lab work to kind of come up with what could be causing your concerns.
02:24But other things can be resolved on the spot.
02:26So it's really important to not be hesitant to bring up any concerns with your primary care physician.
02:32We like to view ourselves as kind of your first stop for any sort of health care questions or concerns you may have.
02:38And to that end, how easy is it to schedule a visit with a virtual primary care physician?
02:42It's super easy.
02:44We have 24 primary care locations, which is very convenient for our patients.
02:48And we also offer online scheduling as well as online telemedicine appointments.
02:54So each patient can individually schedule their appointment if they visit virtual.org slash primary care now.
03:01And it's a pretty easy process to go on and schedule your own appointments.
03:05That sounds great.
03:07Dr. Nicole Kuhar, thank you so much for joining me this afternoon and answering some very important questions.
03:12And lastly, beetles or stones?
03:15I'm going beetles.
03:16Yes!
03:18Thank you, doctor.
03:19Thank you for having me.
