It's 105 When The Bounce, your girl Lori Mack here.
00:02
And I have sitting in the seat the beautiful, amazing writer, director, singer, Katrina Bailey?
00:11
Katrina Carson, that's my name.
00:12
Katrina Carson? I should have asked you.
00:15
No, it's okay. No, that's my name.
00:16
Because I'm like, is that? But it sounds so good. It rolls off the tongue.
00:19
It's okay. It's okay. Yes, Katrina Carson.
00:22
Yes, thank you for having me.
00:23
You look so gorgeous over there.
00:25
Thank you. I tried.
00:26
So you know why you're here. You know why we're here.
00:28
Yes, yes, yes.
00:29
We're here to hear about this beautiful play, Chronicles of Love.
00:32
Can you please tell us a little bit more about this beautiful play?
00:34
Yes, so Chronicles of Love is a duet show.
00:38
It's a monologue show.
00:39
It's an original production that I wrote.
00:42
It is a navigation through love, pain, forgiveness,
00:47
all those things that we all go through at some point.
00:51
And I feel like everybody will be able to relate to at least one duet.
00:55
And when I say duet, it may be a monologue or two people on stage at the same time
01:00
that are going through a certain scenario and they're just trying to work through it,
01:05
trying to navigate through it.
01:06
So I feel like everybody will have one person on there that they can relate to.
01:10
And that's what makes it so breathtaking.
01:12
So just, ah, like I just, I just feel like everybody is going to enjoy it
01:17
because I feel like it's going to be one thing they can take away from it,
01:20
if that makes sense.
01:21
Oh, that makes perfect sense.
01:22
It's the energy that's given.
01:23
You talk with so much passion.
01:25
It's just, I'm just thinking about the parts and just the play
01:27
and just the duets you say.
01:29
So it's more like love, passion.
01:31
All of those things.
01:32
Everything that goes into it.
01:34
I have a couple of the women that are doing monologues.
01:37
So it is based off of a monologue series.
01:40
I did do Chronicles of a Gen Z, a millennial.
01:43
That was a straight monologue show.
01:44
That was the first one.
01:45
And so this one, yes, I'm adding.
01:48
Like, is this your first play?
01:49
No, this is my second.
01:50
Okay.
01:51
So I'm excited about it.
01:52
It's a little bit different from the first,
01:54
but like I said, it's a monologue show.
01:56
So it's going to be something that I continue to do
01:58
as I keep being inspired by people and their situations
02:01
and even my life.
02:03
So it's not going to be all about everybody else, right?
02:06
Right.
02:06
Well, you know, I don't mean to just backpedal back
02:08
to your first play,
02:10
but can we just dive a little bit into that
02:12
so we can get a little bit more of a better understanding
02:14
of how this second one came to be?
02:16
Because I'm interested.
02:18
So Chronicles of a Gen Z and Millennial
02:20
is basically about, it's self-titled.
02:22
Gen Z's and millennials,
02:24
different things that they go through.
02:25
Every person had their own particular monologue
02:28
that was based on their life.
02:30
The first act basically kind of introduced the character
02:32
to the people.
02:34
And then the second one kind of like was the resolve
02:37
of what was happening.
02:38
So each scenario, it was different things,
02:41
relationships, work-related, just body image,
02:44
just learning yourself and what you want,
02:47
just imposter syndrome, things of that nature.
02:49
So everybody had their own specific character
02:52
and by the end it was resolved.
02:54
And I was just hoping everybody took something from it
02:56
and from the reviews, everybody loved it.
02:58
That's why we're back.
03:00
Okay, period.
03:01
There we go.
03:01
We're back with Chronicles of Love featuring duets.
03:03
So this time we're just going to add
03:05
a little bit more love, you know,
03:07
a little bit more spark.
03:08
So I hope everybody enjoys it.
03:10
And I know that you're writing behind.
03:11
Are you also in this play?
03:12
No, I am just the writer and director.
03:15
I am an actress, but these particular shows,
03:18
I am just writing and directing.
03:19
And I love it.
03:20
I love being behind the scenes.
03:22
I love writing.
03:24
I just put out a book, actually, an e-book.
03:26
Okay, let's get into it.
03:28
I'm sorry, say it again.
03:29
What's the book?
03:30
I just put out a book.
03:31
It's an affirmation book.
03:33
It's called Give Yourself Roses.
03:35
It's literally affirmations that I wrote for myself.
03:37
Get out of here.
03:38
And so I just wanted to just share with everybody.
03:41
Just that little,
03:42
sometimes you need a little dab of hope,
03:44
you know, just to keep you going,
03:45
a little sunshine.
03:46
And I just felt like that's something
03:47
I wanted to put out.
03:48
So it's just an e-book.
03:49
It's a small e-book.
03:50
It's only a dollar.
03:51
And where can they get this?
03:51
Yes, on Amazon.
03:53
So Kindle.
03:54
So it is an e-book on Kindle.
03:55
It's only a dollar.
03:56
Just look up Give Yourself Flowers,
03:58
written by Katrina Carson.
03:59
Oh, that's beautiful.
04:00
And I just, and I can see that
04:02
because since I met you,
04:03
I mean, just a breath of fresh air.
04:06
Just to know that you came out with a book.
04:09
Okay.
04:10
If you haven't got this,
04:11
you have to go and get this,
04:12
ladies and gentlemen.
04:13
Okay.
04:13
Just stimulate your mind.
04:15
Yes.
04:15
You have to.
04:16
You have to.
04:16
Yes, you have to.
04:17
If you say something long enough,
04:19
it will become.
04:20
I'm a true believer of,
04:21
you know, your words.
04:23
You just speak it into existence.
04:24
So where can people see this beautiful play?
04:27
Chronicles of Love.
04:28
Yes, yes, yes.
04:29
So it will be Saturday,
04:31
February 17th.
04:32
That's next Saturday.
04:33

04:34
I'm so excited.
04:34
Coming up real soon.
04:36

04:36

04:37
Yes, yes.
04:38

04:39
That is inside the music hall.
04:41

04:41

04:42

04:43
and drinks that are served.
04:45
Okay.
04:46
You know,
04:46

04:47

04:49

04:54

04:55

04:56

04:57

04:58

04:58

04:59
So make sure you get your advance ticket
05:00
because they are going,
05:01
people are coming.
05:02
I'm going to say,
05:03
can they still get up
05:03
to the last final day?
05:05
Yes, yes, yes.
05:06
Okay.
05:06
I want to keep it open.
05:07
I want everybody
05:07
to get that opportunity.
05:08
You hear that,
05:09
ladies and gentlemen?
05:09
Yes, yes.
05:10
And it's a great thing to do
05:11
for Valentine's Day
05:11
if you want to come.
05:12
I was just about to say,
05:14
Chronicles of Love.
05:15
Yes,
05:16
Valentine's Day.
05:17
So yes,
05:17
it is Saturday,
05:18
February 17th
05:19
at 8 p.m.,
05:20
Aretha's Jazz Cafe
05:21
inside the music hall.
05:23
So I hope you guys
05:24
can come out.
05:24
Yeah.
05:25
That is beautiful.
05:26
And I just got
05:26
one more question.
05:27
No, you're okay.
05:28
Can we be expecting
05:29
more plays from you?
05:30
Of course.
05:31
Like I said,
05:32
this is actually
05:33
going to be
05:34
more of a monologue
05:35
show, Chronicles.
05:36
So we'll have
05:37
more than one.
05:38
Yes.
05:38
Yes.
05:39
And then I am working
05:40
on an actual,
05:41
not just a monologue show,
05:42
but another play production
05:44
that is in the works.
05:45
So I am writing.
05:46
I write all the time.
05:47
And I had so much.
05:48
A lot of people don't know.
05:49
I have a Bachelor's of Theater,
05:51
a Bachelor's of Arts
05:52
in Theater
05:52
from Wayne State University.
05:54
Okay, let them know.
05:55
I've been writing
05:56
and writing for years.
05:57
And honestly,
05:58
I felt like this was my,
06:00
last year I said,
06:01
I'm going to just put it out.
06:03
I feel like sometimes
06:03
you're just so afraid
06:04
and you kind of
06:05
keep things in a bubble.
06:06
You're like,
06:06
I'm not ready.
06:07
I'm not ready.
06:08
But honestly,
06:08
you're never going to be ready.
06:10
You just have to get ready.
06:11
Put yourself out there.
06:13
Just get ready.
06:14
And then,
06:14
what did Jay-Z say last night?
06:16
You keep showing up.
06:17
Okay, you keep showing up.
06:18
You keep showing up
06:19
until somebody else sees you.
06:21
And even if you feel like
06:22
they're not seeing you,
06:23
you just keep showing up
06:24
for yourself.
06:24
And eventually,
06:25
people are going to catch on.
06:27
So, if you don't do nothing,
06:28
if that's my advice
06:29
for everybody this year,
06:30
if you don't do nothing,
06:30
just show up for yourself.
06:32
Oh my God, I love that.
06:33
That's a beautiful word
06:34
to leave with.
06:35
Ladies and gentlemen,
06:36
Katrina.
06:37
Yes, Katrina Carson.
06:38
Okay, I don't want to say Bailey.
06:40
I don't want to say Bailey.
06:41
Thank you so much
06:42
for coming on my show today.
06:44
I appreciate it.
06:45
Thank you for having me.
06:45
And once again,
06:46
can you tell the ladies
06:46
and gentlemen
06:47
where they can see
06:48
this beautiful play?
06:49
Yes, yes.
06:50
So, Saturday, February 17th
06:51
at 8 p.m.,
06:52
Aretha's Jazz Cafe
06:53
Inside the Music Hall.
06:55
Tickets, $25.
06:57
You can get them
06:57
on Eventbrite.
06:58
Or you can follow me
06:59
on my Instagram.
07:00
I am Katrina Carson
07:01
or Facebook,
07:03
Katrina Carson.
07:04
Tickets are all on my page
07:05
in my bio.
07:06
You can find it there.
07:07
All right, Katrina Carson, everybody.
07:10
Your girl Lori Mack here.
07:10
I want to follow
07:11
on the bounce.
07:12
Thank you so much
07:12
for tuning in to my show.
07:14
Thank you for being here.
07:16
That's a wrap.
