Fireworks Mishaps

Aimee's son was burned by fireworks years ago and he's still scarred to this day. Literally and figuratively.

00:00i am so pumped fourth of july is a big one for me this could be my favorite holiday are you uh

00:10really bigger than christmas bigger than thanksgiving you have to like it's so much easier

00:15to cook for fourth of july you throw it on the grill that's true done this is true and i don't

00:20even do that my husband does that so i'm like yeah we'll do burgers and dogs you mean i will

00:24do but you know with uh july 4th brings fireworks and those are very dangerous folks very dangerous

00:31have you ever had like a run-in with a firework i uh i have not i so my cousins uh so okay i have

00:38two sets of cousins i have middle class cousins and i have rich cousins my rich cousins would get

00:43all the illegal fireworks from new hampshire and they drive them down to massachusetts okay and

00:48they would have crates of these flat-out explosives right that wow i don't know how these get they

00:56give them to people especially after they've had 15 bush lights so uh yeah like your rich

01:01cousins though they weren't drinking bush light oh well no they'd listen they could get they're

01:05drinking martinis while they were cool i think they might have been coars light i think maybe

01:09it was a course like whatever the case i remember there was one thing in particular i remember uh they

01:13had this this big one this is going to be the grand finale so they set up the box we're all backing

01:17out there at least this cul-de-sac yeah and i think it was brian brian is the uh the funniest

01:23one of the of the rich cousins okay he lights the fuse and then he backs up but little did he know

01:30that the box the crate that is there is upside down that's like that's like a jack in the movie jackass

01:39yes so the box goes up and all of a sudden foosh foosh like matrix bullet time these things start

01:52flying out of everywhere and we're all ducking for cover wow it was wow wow beautiful i don't know

01:58about that see we remember when on charleston in 215 when that uh that the condo complex or apartment

02:07complex right there wasn't was dirt okay just less than 10 years ago and that's where we would

02:13watch red rocks um uh fireworks yeah yeah but everybody of course would bring their own and try

02:19to light them off and try to be like stations casinos yeah good luck and jayden was i don't know

02:24probably seven years old and uh we were just standing there watching they've got their sparklers and all

02:30of that and a firework that somebody else was lighting off was set up incorrectly and shot

02:37under like two different cars and got him in the leg no it was terrible no i'm crying he's crying i'm

02:45like do we have to call 9-1-1 i'm about 10 bush lights at this point wine i had wine in a

02:52there were natty lights come on yeah and um it was devastating it was so sad he had like third

02:58degree burns on his leg or something luckily my friend's uh sister is an rn so she was like taking

03:04care of him like on the scene it was terrible so to this day he is 14 years old he still will not

03:11even like hold a sparkler because he's just because he's just scared of all of it so what does he do on

03:17the fourth of july nothing stay inside i mean he'll he'll go outside and like watch him from afar

03:23but watch him from like red rock canyon like look at the glow in the distance i'm safe here

03:27make sure nobody else is around he watches them on his own time yeah it's uh it's i've never had a

03:35terrible that was the worst for me there was once i forget where it was was it in vegas or back

03:40in in boston i forget what it was but i was at a uh fireworks display and there was a uh there

03:46was an issue it was like a big one for like a city and there was an issue where they acted like

03:51all the fireworks went off at once like i think it was i think was it red it was i believe it was

03:58here it could have been it were it just looked like nam like it was like whoa we're going big

04:05and it was over in about 30 seconds wow there's there's a joke here i know don't say it
