When do Northerners switch the heating off?

Do you turn your heating off at the first signs of sunshine or leave it until you’re certain winter has passed?

00:09Me and Mum will have it on all the time during the winter,

00:11but we never have it on overnight.

00:13It's very rarely on in the summer.

00:15I think I keep mine on just if it's cold,

00:17because, you know, British weather is quite unpredictable,

00:19so you kind of just keep it on as and when.

00:22I think the other day, it was a cloud outside, but it was quite warm.

00:25It was sunny outside the other day, but it was quite cold.

00:28So you can never tell unless it's like a wind.

00:30It was like a little bit of rain earlier,

00:33so you've got to go inside and check how warm it is.

00:37Heating usually, sometimes one gets careless and leaves it to all,

00:42or other times one switches it on in the evening

00:45at about five o'clock or something like that,

00:48and gets careless about these things now.

00:51Then you see what happens is you get this horrendous heating bill,

00:54so you just turn it off altogether

00:56and wrap yourself up in warm clothes and go to bed.

01:00It's really nice, so it's so sick.

01:02It's pretty significant that you feel that you can lose it.

01:04So I'm thinking that I'm sitting at the shade of the entire thing.
