What is the primary need that a woman wants from her husband?
00:09
What's the primary emotion?
00:11
That is the continual love and the continual enveloping of that attention
00:17
that the husband always makes his wife his priority.
00:20
The husband always shows his wife that I'm thinking about you,
00:24
I'm caring about you, i.e. I will always love you.
00:27
To feel that love, to feel cherishment,
00:30
they need to be constantly reassured that their husbands love them,
00:34
that their husbands always take them as number one, always.
00:39
If women could get away with it, they want to be put on the pedestal
00:42
and the husband just looks at them all day and night,
00:44
and that would be great for them, right?
00:46
They want to be number one in their husband's lives.
00:49
So they want constant reassurance that the husband always loves them.
00:54
Now, brothers, listen to this.
00:56
Wives, do not take your love for granted.
01:00
You take your wives' loves for granted.
01:02
You don't need your wife to constantly reassure you that you love me, you love me.
01:07
No, you take it for granted.
01:08
The fact that she's still living with you shows you she loves you.
01:11
Well, it doesn't work the other way around.
01:13
It does not work the other way around.
01:17
A woman is always double guessing.
01:20
Does he still love me?
01:21
Does he still think about me?
01:22
Does he still care about me?
01:23
Does he still put me number one?
01:25
And therefore, a woman has to have constant reassurance.
01:29
And not only this, but another issue that men need to be sensitive to and understand.
01:33
Women are very conscious of their looks and they're comparing their looks with other women all the time.
01:41
We guys don't do that.
01:42
We don't care about other looks of men and we don't compare ourselves.
01:45
But women are always thinking,
01:47
am I still beautiful enough for him?
01:49
Does he still think me attractive?
01:50
Maybe I've gained a few pounds.
01:51
Maybe after the third kid, this and that.
01:53
She's always double guessing her looks, her figure.
01:56
And so the husband always has to make her feel the most beautiful,
02:00
the most cherished, the most loved, the most admired.
02:04
She always wants these reassurances.
02:06
How does he do this?
02:08
I'll just point out a number of them.
02:09
Number one, words, words, words.
02:12
Never underestimate the power of speech.
02:15
Simply saying, I love you.
02:18
I know it's awkward for men after the courting phrase.
02:20
I know it's awkward, right?
02:22
But believe me, it never goes out of fashion.
02:25
For women, it never goes out of fashion.
02:28
They always love to hear this phrase.
02:31
And in fact, there are da'if hadith of our Prophet ﷺ.
02:32
It's a bit da'if hadith, but it's still mentioned in our books that
02:35
our Prophet ﷺ and Aisha were joking once.
02:38
And Aisha said to the Prophet ﷺ,
02:40
كَيْفَ حُبُّكَ لِيْهِ
02:41
How much do you love me?
02:42
How is your love for me?
02:43
And our Prophet ﷺ said,
02:45
and he gave a beautiful, metaphorical, poetic expression.
02:48
He said, my love for you is like the tight knot
02:51
that cannot be unbound.
02:53
My love for you is like the tight knot
02:55
that cannot be unbound.
02:56
So then, in the future,
02:58
sometimes if they would have a bit of an issue,
03:00
a bit of an argument,
03:01
one of the two would remark,
03:02
how is the knot right now?
03:04
How is the knot right now?
03:05
And Aisha would say this
03:06
when the Prophet ﷺ sometimes got irritated.
03:08
How is the knot?
03:09
So he would smile, he would say,
03:10
as strong as it ever was.
03:12
Right?
03:13
And this hadith is in Dara Qutni.
03:14
Now the point being that
03:15
the words I love you
03:17
are something very important,
03:18
but not just I love you.
03:20
Praising her and what she does.
03:22
Husbands,
03:23
never take your wife's actions for granted.
03:26
Suppose she is cooking
03:27
and cleaning most of the time.
03:30
Never take it for granted.
03:31
Always, once in a while,
03:33
come and compliment her.
03:34
MashaAllah, that was great.
03:35
You know, I really appreciate
03:36
what you're doing for me.
03:37
Those words, they go a long way.
03:40
Your wife realizes,
03:41
you know what,
03:41
he's not taking me for granted.
03:43
Very important.
03:45
Praise her looks
03:46
when she dresses up,
03:47
when she does something
03:47
extra special for you.
03:49
Never take it for granted.
03:51
Husbands, you all know
03:52
the big danger
03:52
of forgetting anniversaries.
03:54
Right?
03:54
You all know how dangerous that is.
03:56
Why do women want you
03:58
to know their anniversaries?
03:59
Because it makes them feel
04:01
you still love them.
04:02
Makes them feel
04:03
he still remembers me,
04:04
he still cherishes me.
04:06
And celebrating anniversaries,
04:08
honestly, I believe
04:09
there are some scholars
04:10
they say it's haram bid'ah.
04:11
SubhanAllah,
04:12
quote me,
04:13
celebrating anniversaries
04:14
is mustahab.
04:15
It is encouraged
04:16
in our religion.
04:17
What greater thing to do
04:19
than for the husband
04:20
to tell his wife
04:21
over and over again
04:22
that I love you,
04:23
I'll do it all over again.
04:24
Take them out
04:25
for a romantic dinner.
04:26
Be romantic with your wife.
04:28
What better way
04:29
of showing that love?
04:30
There's nothing wrong at all
04:32
to show that love
04:33
on your anniversary days.
04:34
This is something
04:35
that the shari'ah
04:36
encourages the husband and wife
04:37
to have that lovely bond together.
04:39
Another thing
04:40
that the woman wants
04:41
is time.
04:44
And time,
04:45
this is now
04:45
a difference in language.
04:47
For husbands,
04:48
time means
04:49
the watch on your hand.
04:51
So when the wife says,
04:52
you never spend time with me,
04:54
immediately he goes
04:55
into calculation mode.
04:56
I sleep eight hours in the day,
04:58
I have breakfast one hour,
04:59
I come home,
04:59
that's ten hours with you.
05:02
How can you say
05:02
I never have time for you?
05:04
Right?
05:04
Because he's thinking of time
05:06
in the dictionary definition of time.
05:08
That's the clock.
05:09
No, no, no, no.
05:10
Women have a different dictionary.
05:12
Women have a different vocabulary.
05:14
For women,
05:15
time means attention.
05:20
Undivided quality attention.
05:23
So, you're working
05:25
five days of the week.
05:26
You have that Saturday night free.
05:28
And you wanna go
05:29
and you wanna watch
05:30
a television match.
05:31
You wanna watch a cricket game.
05:32
You wanna go and play some basketball.
05:33
You wanna do this and that.
05:34
That is quality time.
05:37
And you have just shown your wife
05:38
when you have quality time,
05:40
you don't wanna spend it with her.
05:42
So what does that mean?
05:43
You never go out with the guys?
05:44
No, of course you have to go out with the guys.
05:46
But understand,
05:47
when she's asking for time,
05:49
she wants quality time.
05:51
And this also,
05:52
when she comes to you
05:53
to help,
05:53
to come for advice,
05:54
she wants some issue to solve.
05:56
One of the biggest problems
05:57
that men have
05:58
is they think
05:59
as if
06:00
the woman is coming to him
06:02
to solve her problem.
06:04
So immediately he'll say,
06:05
oh, you did this wrong,
06:06
you did that wrong,
06:07
you should do this,
06:07
you should do that.
06:08
And that is not
06:09
what the woman wants.
06:11
What does the woman want?
06:12
The woman wants a,
06:13
the woman wants a
06:15
loving ear,
06:17
a sympathetic ear.
06:19
She wants somebody
06:19
to listen to her problem,
06:21
to be sympathetic to her,
06:23
not necessarily
06:24
to solve her problem.
06:26
This is quality time.
06:27
to express
06:28
that whatever she went through
06:30
was frustrating,
06:30
was problematic,
06:31
and inshallah,
06:32
they will work it out.
06:33
You have to give
06:34
what the woman wants
06:36
and in return,
06:36
she will give what you want.
06:38
When the man gives love,
06:40
when the man gives that,
06:42
what we call romance,
06:43
and romance is nothing.
06:44
Men,
06:44
men think romance
06:45
is a very dangerous word.
06:47
They never want to use it.
06:48
Right?
06:49
All romance means is
06:50
you show her
06:52
you're thinking about her.
06:53
You show her
06:54
you're caring about her.
06:55
Husbands,
06:55
the phrase I love you,
06:57
giving roses,
06:58
remembering the anniversaries,
07:00
taking them out,
07:01
spending quality time.
07:02
This is what romance is.
07:04
When you give the wife the love,
07:06
you make her feel
07:07
like she's number one,
07:08
guess what?
07:09
She'll make you feel
07:10
like you're number one.
07:11
And so the both of you
07:12
make each other feel
07:13
like number one,
07:14
and that's exactly
07:15
what marriage is all about.
07:16
and that's exactly what marriage is all about.
07:22
And that's exactly what marriage is all about.
07:24
And that's exactly what marriage is all about.
07:25
And that's exactly what marriage is all about.
07:26
And that's exactly what marriage is all about.
07:27
And that's exactly what marriage is all about.
07:28
And that's exactly what marriage is all about.
07:29
And that's exactly what marriage is all about.
07:30
And that's exactly what marriage is all about.
07:31
And that's exactly what marriage is all about.
07:32
And that's exactly what marriage is all about.
07:33
And that's exactly what marriage is all about.
07:34
And that's exactly what marriage is all about.
07:35
And that's exactly what marriage is all about.
07:36
And that's exactly what marriage is all about.
07:38
And that's exactly what marriage is all about.
07:40
And that's exactly what marriage is all about.
07:41
And that's exactly what marriage is all about.
