Azmi Hassan says the ex-Sabah deputy CM should consider calling it quits after her latest party election loss, but Oh Ei Sun believes a suitable replacement may be hard to find.
00:00An analyst said former Sabah Deputy Chief Minister Christina Liu should consider calling time on her political career after the latest setback of losing her post as Kota Kinabalu PKR Chief.
00:15Academy News Antara's Azmi Hassan pointed out that Liu, the three-term Api Api Assemblyman, was ousted as Sabah PKR Chief three years ago and then lost the state Pakatan Harapan chairmanship in December.
00:30He said losing the Sabah PKR chairmanship was a particularly heavy blow for her, with nearly 20 of the 25 heads of divisions in the state expressing a loss of confidence in her leadership.
00:44With Sabah required to hold its state election by the end of the year, Azmi believed that Liu would not get the chance to defend her seat for her fourth term as Assemblyman.
00:54However, O A Son of the Singapore Institute of International Affairs believed that Liu may still have a shot at running in the state election, saying Sabah PKR was short of senior leaders like the current state tourism minister.
01:09He also did not see Liu intending to step down just yet.
01:16Liu had lost the Kota Kinabalu PKR Chief's post to Li Li Mei in a closely fought contest with the Api Api Assemblyman garnering 1,157 votes against Li's 1,381 votes.
