00:00Bounce pass to Moody. Moody with three. Tough shot. Good shot. Moses Moody. Oh my goodness.
00:06That was a fantastic shot because Pajemski didn't put him in great shape.
00:10His first basket of the game is right there and it gives the Warriors a six-point lead again.
00:15Two-thirty left. Curry crossover dribble to the right side. Chased by two defenders to Pajemski.
00:21He attacks. Goes left corner to Moody. The three balls up and good. Moses Moody.
00:24Three ball left corner. Pocket. And it's a seven-point lead for the Dubs. Big time basket.
00:31Bay Area. It's Moses Moody. You're listening to Willard and Dibs on 95.7 The Game.
00:36Oh Moses. Oh those were big. Big. Those are big shots.
00:43When you end up in the fourth quarter of playoff games and there's that moment where the ball moves around the court
00:49and it ends up in the hands of any role player. Any non-star.
00:53And they kind of look up at the hoop and they're like, all right y'all, we're doing this.
00:59And let it fly.
01:01Whole thing goes in slow motion, doesn't it?
01:04Totally.
01:04Just total slow motion.
01:06And when it goes in, it feels like stealing.
01:10And that's what both of those shots felt like last night.
01:13Felt like stealing.
01:15Getting those two buckets from Moses Moody.
01:17Well, the first one really felt like stealing after Pods.
01:21Well, no. Pods with the Euro steps.
01:25He does his Euro.
01:26Ah. Ah.
01:27And then. Ah.
01:29And then. Ah.
01:30It's like, Pods, where are you going?
01:33What are we doing?
01:34I mean, it felt like three in a drag.
01:36Well, but I've learned to never get mad about traveling in the NBA.
01:40I didn't get mad, Key, and you're in Houston, and it was Euro, Euro, drag, slide, and step.
01:51Slide to the right.
01:52Right.
01:52This one felt like one where you could see it be called.
01:56I guess.
01:56Like, if LeBron or Steph does it, fine, that's a no call.
02:00And we know that's the nature of it.
02:02Yeah.
02:02Do the refs even know the signal for travel?
02:04Do you know it?
02:05Oh, yeah.
02:06What do you do for travel?
02:07You do the hustle.
02:08Do, do, do, do, do, do.
02:09Perfect.
02:10Honestly.
02:11I mean, unless you go to youth basketball games, I wonder if you even know what the signal
02:15for travel is.
02:17They don't call that.
02:18They don't call it.
02:18Not often.
02:20I mean, it's got to be crazy.
02:22It has to be crazy.
02:23And I know it drives Steve Kerr nuts.
02:25I wish they did, but they don't.
02:28So, you barking up the wrong tree if you're yelling at refs in the NBA to call traveling.
02:32And anyway, he travels.
02:34Of course he did.
02:35He finds Moody for a 14-footer that, at that point, it was a four-point game.
02:41So, it wasn't nervous time, but you needed a bucket, and it was late clock, and he found
02:47it, and he got it.
02:48And then his second bucket that you heard coming in, it's a four-point game again with 225 to
02:54go.
02:54And this one's not late clock.
02:56This one's 14 on the shot clock.
02:59And we had just gone through a couple of possessions of, no, like, you're not Steph.
03:03You're not Jimmy.
03:04Knock it off.
03:06No.
03:06And this one finds Moses in the corner, and I'll be honest.
03:09I was like, no.
03:10No.
03:11Yes.
03:12This is what my coach used to say all the time, every time I shot.
03:15No, no, no, no, no.
03:16Yes.
03:16Okay.
03:17Great.
03:18Okay.
03:18Okay.
03:18Get back on defense.
03:20Yeah.
03:20Yeah.
03:20This was, I feel like this was shortly after Buddy Heald decided to start throwing lobs
03:25and running out of bounds when no one was in front of him.
03:27I think it was right after that.
03:29That was my most stressful moment of the game.
03:32When Buddy finally got the rebound, and you're like, man, that feels like he found a four-leaf
03:36clover.
03:36Buddy Heald got a rebound.
03:38And then he turned to his right and was just like, I'm going to go talk to this person
03:42over here.
03:42Like, Buddy, she's out of bounds.
03:44It was C.J. Stroud.
03:45Yeah, don't go.
03:46He wanted to go see C.J. Stroud, I think.
03:48I get that.
03:49Get a picture or something like that.
03:51Sure.
03:51Let's go to Benjamin in San Pablo.
03:54Hi, Benjamin.
03:54Thank you for calling.
03:57Hey, thanks for taking my call.
03:58Yeah, ma'am.
04:00Hey, yeah, you guys just hit on one of the two things that I had wanted to talk about,
04:06which was the Moody three when the Warriors had got, when Ben Fleet finally hit one, to
04:13put it at 84-80.
04:15I started, I told my wife, I was like, oh, man, this is what kills us.
04:19This is, we are just missing and making stupid turnovers.
04:23And then to come right back down with Moody not being able to make shots all game, oh,
04:30man, when he shot that shot and made it, I was like, oh, we got this.
04:34This is the game right here.
04:36That felt like so much relief.
04:38And it was such a nice moment when we've watched the Warriors cough up leads like all season
04:44and not so much since Jimmy's been here.
04:47But, man, I thought we were giving it up.
04:51And Moody hitting that three really, like, I was like, okay, okay, we're okay.
04:56I'm totally with you, Benjamin.
04:58But, you know, like, in the playoffs, you got to have the stomach for this.
05:01Every team thinks their, or every fan thinks their team always blows the game.
05:06You're right about since Jimmy showed up, I think, in clutch games, that now makes them
05:0911-4 since Jimmy Butler arrived.
05:13And I always try to do this.
05:14It doesn't always work, Benjamin, but whenever your team is up by four
05:18and you're freaking out because here comes the other team,
05:22just imagine being a fan of the other team for a second.
05:25You're like, how would that feel right now?
05:26And if you were a Rocket fan last night, last night was a nightmare.
05:31Not only did you lose game one that you had to have in your home building,
05:34you were largely down by double digits, and it's the same damn player that literally
05:38has been the guy who has stopped your franchise from ever doing anything
05:42in the last decade and a half.
05:44Last night was a nightmare for a Rocket fan, Benjamin.
05:48Definitely.
05:49And, yeah, I loved hearing the Rockets announcers call in the Steph 3s.
05:54That was great.
05:55Well, Benjamin, thanks for, yeah, oh, go ahead.
05:58We'll play it again as soon as you're done.
06:00Yeah, there was one more thing I just wanted to ask.
06:03Did anybody think that Pods was actually, like, taunting the Rockets into that replay call?
06:09Because that came up huge.
06:11Like, I don't know if Pods thought the call was on him, but he's twirled the finger,
06:18and then the Rockets end up challenging the call, lose the challenge,
06:22and then the Warriors actually, like, very, very concretely benefited from it.
06:27And I was, like, that's the kind of IQ play that we keep talking about where I was like,
06:35I don't know if Pods did that on purpose, but, man, did that work out.
06:38Yeah, Benjamin, thanks.
06:40That's the way I took it, that he was taunting the Rockets.
06:43I don't think he was trying to convince them to do it, because that would really give me pause.
06:47If I'm the Rockets and a player on the other team is like, yeah, review it, review it,
06:52that would obviously dissuade me from wanting to do it.
06:55But I think that they were thinking about it, and a lot of the players on the Rockets called for the review,
07:01and it was Pods' way of saying, go ahead, yeah, go ahead, review it.
07:06And he was right, it was definitely a foul on the Rockets.
07:09It's a weird one, and I'm looking at the replay right now.
07:12Three-point game, 6.33 to go, and the ref on the baseline, he clearly blows his whistle,
07:18but he doesn't indicate who it's on.
07:20And so, like, you've got a player on the ground, and Pods has shot it,
07:25and Pods, the way he does the twirl, he's not doing it to his own bench.
07:29He's looking at the Rockets' bench.
07:32But at this point, as I'm watching the video, it hasn't yet been decided.
07:36I don't think, who it's on.
07:38None of the three refs, like, did the and-one or the points.
07:42No, he must have known.
07:43Well, it wasn't an and-one.
07:44He didn't make the shot.
07:46Right.
07:46He ended up getting two shots, and he made only one of the two shots.
07:49He missed the first free throw.
07:50Good point.
07:51Warriors only got one.
07:52Don't go.
07:52Will you?
07:53Review it.
07:54Pretty funny.
07:54So, anyway.
07:55Just looking at the video, he is, like, clearly looking at the Rockets,
07:59because his bench is on the near side, and he's looking at the other end of the floor,
08:03like, yeah, review it.
08:05Fire away if you guys want.
08:06And Udoka did.
08:07And he was right.
08:08And it turned out to be a thing because, as Steini and Goo were mentioning earlier,
08:12there's a ball out of bounds that should have gone to the Rockets.
08:14Off of Draymond.
08:15Exactly right.
08:16So, you had no review, and, I mean, the rule is stupid.
08:19We've talked about it, but the rules are the rules.
08:22I know, but I-
08:22We don't worry about getting it right when you're out of challenges.
08:25I hate it so much.
08:26I hate it so much.
08:29I hate it in the NFL even more.
08:31I just, it's like, why bring all of these rules to the table where the idea is to get
08:35the call right, but then you set up a system where you're like, but not now.
08:40It's like, wait a minute, like, we're punished?
08:43We're punished for asking you to check on something.
08:46I get that you shouldn't be allowed to just check everything all the time, but the fact
08:51that it's so easy to quickly fall into not having the ability to challenge, and then
08:56you get to the final couple minutes of a game, and big calls are just uncheckable.
09:01It's weird to me.
09:02I just, that cannot be what people were trying to do.
09:04And if you go back to the NCAA tournament, those calls are all reviewable.
09:09They automatically will just review it.
09:11If there's an out-of-bounds or something that is a close call, they do that there.
09:16Yet, in the association, multi-billion dollar industry, we have a system that we don't really
09:23have that much interest in, quote, getting it right.
09:25Right.
09:26Last two-minute report, not yet out.
09:28I will keep an eye on that when it gets released.
09:30Oh, exciting.
09:31Yeah, probably tomorrow.
09:32And then they'll come out and say, well, you know what?
09:34We probably should have given the Rockets the ball in that case.
09:37Yeah, whatever.
09:38Yeah, 48 hours later.
09:40It's also a 10-point game.
09:42One possession wasn't going to switch the outcome.
09:45Was it 10 at that point?
09:46Yeah.
09:46Not at that point, but it ended up that way.
09:48Right.
09:48Warriors won by 10.
09:49Yep.
09:49This was not a one-possession thing.
09:53This was not a Russell Westbrook game, which is going to be my new nickname for one-possession
09:58games because I don't know how a game cannot be a one-possession game when he's playing
10:02in it because he will make a great play and then the most mind-bogglingly stupid thing
10:07I've ever seen an NBA player do the very next play every time, every time he plays.
10:12I just want to send out my condolences today on 95.7 The Game for any fan who has to watch
10:19him play for your team.
10:21That has got to be the most maddening experience in sports.
10:24It's nuts.
10:25Yes, but he does just enough to where coaches keep putting him out there, but it is what
10:31a migraine headache.
10:32Yeah.
10:33Wow.
10:33I've never seen someone win an MVP in a sport and at the same time show such an insane lack
10:41of knowledge about that sport.
10:43It's crazy.
10:45I've never seen an athlete like him.
10:47It's bizarre.
10:49He's amazing.
10:50He has no clue what he's doing out there.
10:52He is so unbelievably gifted and if you could watch two minutes of Russell Westbrook, you
10:59would see the greatest play ever followed by the most boneheaded play ever maybe on
11:03the same possession often and you watch that game and he was unbelievable.
11:08He was fantastic and then it was like I almost called you because he had a play where it's
11:13like, dude, you don't need to go try and score and he goes dribble dribble.
11:18No, he's a you know, I'm I'm not convinced that Russell Westbrook's not being controlled
11:24by somebody's video game console and somebody keeps you hitting the button that makes him
11:30go into ludicrous speed at the wrong time at the end of every game.
11:34I don't understand what's happening.
11:37I've never seen an NBA MVP more often have the ball in his hands with less than 30 seconds
11:44to go and the lead and he decides I need to run at the hoop as fast as possible and huck
11:50the ball straight in the air.
11:51It is the weirdest thing.
11:53I baffled.
11:56Absolutely baffled.
11:57What do you got, Grandy?
11:58It's funny you brought up video games.
11:59Do you guys have you guys played Mario Kart?
12:01Of course.
12:02Yeah, or you've run into the item and the you get your item box pops up and you don't
12:08know what you're going to get.
12:08You're going to get like the the red shell, the green shell, the banana or star power or
12:12the blue shell or whatever it is.
12:14And I saw this post on on Twitter last night.
12:17It was Russell Westbrook.
12:19Oh, you did Russell Westbrook is Lucas the item box in Mario Kart.
12:24When he has the ball in his hands, you don't know what the hell out is going to end.
12:27But, you know, you're going to get something one way or the other.
12:29Oh, my God.
12:30But aren't all those items like good items?
12:32There's no item that you get that hurts you.
12:34No, but there are some that are kind of worthless.
12:37Right.
12:38And I'm like a banana.
12:39But the one banana, yes.
12:41The three bananas, you can you can populate it and trail it behind you.
12:44And that way, a red shell can protect you or a green shell rather.
12:48And a banana is I don't like slander against bananas.
12:51They're not worthless.
12:52I know that they're not as healthy as some other fruits, but they can be delicious.
12:58And if you freeze them, they're great in smoothies.
13:00But you get the banana on lap two and you just drop it.
13:03You might hit your own banana on lap three.
13:05Well, when I get like the ink and I go in and splot ink on someone else's car so they can't see.
13:11I mean, that's that's that's pointless.
13:13Mostly.
13:14That's mostly.
13:15Yeah.
13:15Anyway, if you get the bullet, you're probably in last.
13:18So you may need a couple of bullets to get back in it.
13:21True.
13:22Yeah.
13:22A lot of Mario Kart with my my younger son.
13:24He was a savant.
13:25Really good.
13:26Mario Kart is great.
13:27And I'm trying to I forget the name of the guy.
13:30What's the name of the guy that everybody likes?
13:32The character.
13:33Toad.
13:34Yoshi.
13:34No, Yoshi.
13:35There you go.
13:36Yoshi.
13:36Yoshi's the ghost.
13:37Not Yoshi.
13:38Yoshi.
13:38Yeah.
13:39What'd you say, Lucas?
13:40Toad.
13:40Not Toad.
13:41Old school's Toad.
13:42Yoshi.
13:43Gamers know.
13:44Yoshi.
13:44Dude, it's Yoshi.
13:46Yeah.
13:46Yes.
13:46Whatever.
13:47Anyway.
13:48Bowser.
13:48Bowser Jr.
13:49The other thing.
13:50Waluigi.
13:50Koopa Troopa.
13:51It reminds me of every space movie when they hit that hyperspeed thing and the stars start
13:57like going out really long and then that's Russell Westbrook if you give him the ball in the last
14:02minute of the game.
14:03Yes.
14:03It doesn't matter if you're supposed to hit hyperspeed.
14:05You do.
14:06It's like Russell Westbrook's on Rainbow Road and like you can't use your hyperspeed on
14:12Rainbow Road.
14:12There's no guardrails.
14:14You'll fly off the air.
14:16That's Russell Westbrook.
14:17He is hyperspeed on Rainbow Road.
14:20Oh, we promised this.
14:21I could do four hours on it.
14:22Let's not.
14:23But we promised this because Benjamin brought it up and we haven't played it in a couple
14:28hours here.
14:29And this is Craig Ackerman.
14:32He is the voice of the Houston Rockets.
14:34And his partner is Ryan Hollins who was on the show last week talking that talk and talking
14:41that mess.
14:42And here they are watching Steph Curry play basketball.
14:45Curry well defended by Green.
14:47Wow.
14:48Oh, my gosh.
14:49That is vintage Steph Curry.
14:52Incredible.
14:53Just an incredible shot maker.
14:55Now to Curry.
14:56Got to pick him up.
14:57Shakes loose.
14:58Oh, my goodness.
15:00Beats the shot clock.
15:02Steph Curry with 28.
15:04His fourth three.
15:06This is unreal, Craig.
15:09I'm just telling you, man.
15:10I got PTSD from seeing this dude too many times in the playoffs.
15:13I'm just going to admit it.
15:14Comes into Curry on the bounce.
15:16Launches deep one.
15:17Oh, my goodness.
15:19And he hits it from the Y at Toyota Center.
15:22Yeah.
15:23Take that.
15:24Take that.
15:25And Craig Ackerman, again, I think that's a thing.
15:29When he says, I've got PTSD, the players on the Rockets, maybe they don't.
15:35You know?
15:36Aman Thompson was probably, I don't know, he was probably at my gym or something as opposed
15:42to Toyota Center the last time the Rockets and Warriors played in the playoffs.
15:46And Jim Berea 10 years ago.
15:48There you go.
15:48Whatever.
15:49Like, exactly.
15:51So, maybe they don't have a thing about the Warriors, but I'm sorry.
15:54That stuff gets in your blood.
15:56It's on your uniform.
15:57It's in your building.
15:59It's being talked about by your fans, your broadcasters, all of that.
16:03This team is terrified of Steph Curry.
16:07And he gave him another nightmare last night.
16:09He gave it to him and, you know, Jimmy Butler as well.
16:13And, you know, when you're the Rockets and you've played this team five times this year,
16:16you really haven't.
16:17You've played them twice with Jimmy Butler.
16:19And now you're in the playoffs for the first time.
16:21And the thing that was really alarming to me is your one OG who actually has muscle memory
16:28of beating the Warriors when he was on Toronto, Fred Van Vliet.
16:32Van Vliet.
16:32And yet he played so terribly.
16:34And if you have a team full of young guys making their playoff debut, you can understand
16:39some nerves and you can understand maybe not a great game.
16:43Ahmed Thompson, 0 for 4 from the foul line is a little bit weird.
16:47He's about 67, 68%.
16:49So, you know, you would figure he'd at least hit one of them if he was nervous.
16:53But Fred Van Vliet, you've won a title.
16:56And when you won the title, it was against these guys.
16:59And you played great.
17:01Do you believe in plus minus?
17:02I do.
17:03I mean, the one game sample is a little bit...
17:05It's tough, yeah.
17:06And for those of you who don't know what plus minus is, plus minus is a stat in the box score.
17:10And it calculates what happened in the game just while you were on the floor.
17:14Only while you were on the floor.
17:15So everybody gets their own little personal number.
17:18And then they get to wear it like a necklace around the next day.
17:22One Rocket, one, one, had a positive plus minus.
17:28In other words, the Rockets defeated the Warriors while he was on the floor.
17:31Want to take a guess who it was?
17:34Well, I think the obvious guess would be Shen Goon.
17:38But he played a lot of minutes.
17:39And so, a lot of the time they were down.
17:41But I'm going to say Shen Goon just because he played great.
17:44Shen Goon was a minus seven.
17:46A minus seven.
17:48Welcome back.
17:49It's Monday.
17:50There you go.
17:51Amin Thompson, a team leading minus 16.
17:55Dylan Brooks, minus 13.
17:57Those are actually the three worst Rockets.
18:00One more guess just for fun?
18:02It's probably somebody who didn't play a lot.
18:04Well, everybody who played on the Rockets played at least 20 minutes.
18:07Right, because they only played eight guys.
18:08They only played eight guys.
18:10We're not talking about shortening the bench.
18:11Although this guy did play the fewest minutes.
18:14Okay, then it would have to be my beloved Kiwi, Stephen Adams.
18:18That is absolutely correct.
18:19There's the guy.
18:20Yeah, he was a plus four.
18:22Stephen Adams, our old friend.
18:25And he had probably 37 offensive rebounds, I'm remembering.
18:32What do you have, like five or six?
18:33Yeah, five.
18:34Okay.
18:34Five.
18:35Twelve rebounds total, though.
18:36Yeah.
18:36Yeah.
18:37Seven on the defense and five on the offense.
18:39I love Stephen Adams.
18:40He is kind of like the Kiwi Kavon because he gets an offensive rebound.
18:44And like, what are you going to do now, Steve?
18:48Like, what are you going to do about it?
18:49Okay, you got in there and you got it.
18:51It's not like you're going to go up.
18:52And I know he had one dunk at least.
18:54Yeah, he had a dunk.
18:54He had a dunk.
18:55He went 0 for 2 from the free throw line.
18:58Right.
18:58Those were amazing.
18:59Shaq watched the game and went, dude, you suck at free throws.
19:02Pretty funny.
19:03Holy hell.
19:04Rick Barry chimed in and said, maybe underhand in the future.
19:07Maybe underhand or something.
19:08But, I mean, Stephen Adams gets an offensive rebound.
19:10It's like, you know, hey, mate, who wants it?
19:12Yeah, what are you going to do about it?
19:13Yeah, exactly.
19:14I like that.
19:15All right.
19:168 at 8, 957, 9570.
19:19Again, it's just you all afternoon reacting to the game one victory for the Warriors on
19:25the road at the Rockets.
19:27Do you still think the Rockets have a chance in this series?
19:30Do you think this could be a sweep, a gentleman's sweep?
19:33Where are you on that?
19:34What's your takeaway?
19:36Which player do you want to point out and say something about?
19:40We'd love to hear from all of you Warrior fans all afternoon long, all the way up until
19:45dinner time.
19:46That's what we're doing.
