00:04You say usually movie sets look a lot more glamorous on screen than they are in real

00:08life, but this looked like a stark, cold, gritty experience for you.

00:15How much fun was it to make?

00:17It was brilliant.

00:18I mean, we shot most of my part in Marseille, and then we went to Istanbul for another part

00:25of it.

00:26Two fabulous cities, which I highly recommend.

00:29It was cold.

00:31It was in January.

00:32We were supposed to shoot it in August, and then there was a thing called The Actors' Strike.

00:38So it slightly changed it, but it was amazing.

00:42We had so much fun.

00:44I mean, Rami's incredible to work with, and James Hawes, great director, so we had a lot

00:49of fun.

00:50I mean, I think it probably worked better for the story and the character the way it was,

00:53because I wasn't sure whether they just put a sepia tone filter on there, or whether it

00:57was just a very cold sort of, like, difficult...

00:59No, it was...

01:00It was very cold January, winter, but great, you know?

01:03You couldn't have your character looking like there was sun in the tail coming at a great

01:06time.

01:07Is it good with a little cocktail?

01:08No, not at all.

01:10Well, she might look great with a little cocktail, but it might not serve the story so much.

01:17There's, like, a lot of secrecy around it, and it's sort of revealed later on in the

01:22movie.

01:23But she's very techy.

01:27How are you with technology?

01:29Was it all gobbledygook to you?

01:30Oh, great.

01:32I'm very technical.

01:33Good acting there.

01:34Excellent acting.

01:36No, that was the one great acting part I gave.

01:40The first day we went in, and we were doing a lot of the stuff where they're sitting at

01:44computers, and James did come over and whisper, and he was like, maybe look down at the keyboard

01:48a few times.

01:49I was like, oh, yes, yes, I will do that.

01:51That's what people do at these things, isn't it?

01:53I'm so good at it.

01:54I don't need...

01:55I know people who can type without looking at it.

01:57She's quite...

01:58She's quite isolated, though.

01:59And it made me wonder, like, there's a lot of characters in this that are quite isolated,

02:04secluded off.

02:05And I wonder if that's easier to kind of get into as an actor, the more success you have,

02:10because you do become...

02:11You know, the more success there is, you do become a little bit more isolated from the rest

02:15of the world, and your freedoms sort of, like, dry up.

02:18Did you see any sort of, like, correlation there when you were kind of getting into a

02:21mindset?

02:22I don't know.

02:23We should ask Rami what that's like.

02:24A lot of Outlander fans out there.

02:29Look, I really enjoyed sort of, like, when you get a character like this, and you have

02:34an ability to kind of create this huge backstory for yourself, because so much is unknown, and

02:40because it's, like, it's not filled in, really.

02:43So you can kind of go anywhere, and that's the sort of fun thing.

02:47But, yeah, she's quite a...

02:50You know, your heart goes out to her.

02:52It's quite a sad place that she's in.

02:54But then you see her, there's this strength where she sort of fights through that, and

02:59she's a real sort of champion of justice, which is kind of a really interesting thing

03:04for somebody to live in, like, that space for somebody to live in.

03:08You do feel bad for her, but then she gets to meet Rami Malek, and have...

03:10Well, there, there you go.

03:11A lovely...

03:12I won't tell how long that experience is, but a lovely experience with him.

03:16I think that another theme in the film is kind of being underestimated, in a way.

03:21Is that something you could latch onto, I guess, as an actor, people are underestimating

03:27you, like, day in, day out?

03:28I've constantly been underestimated in my life.

03:31No, but I do think...

03:33I think it's really that thing of upending expectations, and, like, what people expect

03:39of you, and what people expect you can do.

03:42I think it's always nice when we get to do that in real life.

03:46Finally, let's touch on our boy, Mr. Malek.

03:48You've worked with some kind of big leading men over the years, like Sam Huron, obviously,

03:53Jamie Dornan, Christian Bale.

03:55How does Mr. Malek compare?

03:57Because he's talked about wanting to do a kind of his own action movie, in a way, and how

04:01he would sort of find his roots into that.

04:04So what was the energy like?

04:05What was the vibe like with him?

04:07We had so much fun.

04:09You know, I think upending expectations.

04:12I don't think anyone expected myself and Rami to be able to run so fast.

04:16But, no, it's great.

04:18And I think I love this character for him.

04:20The fact that it's like he just uses his smarts in this kind of, like, very techy world

04:27and this kind of, like, very data-driven person.

04:30But how they take that and use those special skills to be able to kind of kick ass is very

04:35interesting.

04:36But we had so much fun.

04:37He's amazing to work with.
