00:00The U.S. defended the deployment of the Navy Marine Expeditionary Ship Interdiction System

00:05or Nemesis Missile System for the Balikatan Exercises 2025.

00:09This move had previously drawn protests from China,

00:12including the continued presence of mid-range capability or the Typhon Missile System,

00:18which the U.S. has responded to.

00:20The missile system arrived in the Philippines last week

00:23and will be used in maritime key terrain security operations of Balikatan in northern Luzon

00:28and the Batanes Islands.

00:31The Nemesis is expected to remain in the Philippines after Balikatan

00:34and could be used in other future exercises.

00:38Meanwhile, around 14,000 Filipino and American troops

00:41are participating in the Balikatan Exercises 2025,

00:45which officially began today.
