Once upon a time at Moseley Old Hall there was a man called Aaron. Hello sir. Hello. Aaron you
00:09
work here at the Moseley Old Hall, the National Trust property. Has there been quite a bit of an
00:12
investment? Isn't there a bit of family fun? Yeah. What's going on? What's been happening? So lots
00:16
of change. So we've recently had what's called Stablecroft Meadow had it completely redeveloped.
00:22
So really brand new accessible paths or weather paths which make the area a lot more accessible
00:28
to get around. We've planted nearly three and a half thousand new trees as well. Woodland trees,
00:34
fruit trees, hedge trees. So just to improve the habitat and the wildlife of the area as well and
00:42
just make it easier for people to basically interact with the outdoors. And then in the woodlands we've
00:47
had lots of new play equipment as well including our new storytelling chair, climbing frame. In May
00:54
as well we're also having a four and a half meter hollowed out log tunnel with windows and doors.
01:01
So lots more to explore for the little ones, well kids of all ages really. So yeah come down and check
01:07
us out. And you even have at certain times of the year you have a bit of marshmallow kind of melting
01:12
on the fire going here don't you? Indeed, very popular. So in this fire pit area here we do marshmallow
01:17
toasting throughout the year. And we also have different activities around here as well with our ranger.
01:24
So we could do some sort of bushcraft skills etc. So yeah it's a nice little cosy area of the woodlands.
01:31
You've heard it here first guys, get yourself down, bring your kids. What's going to be happening here
01:35
then? What's these funny bits of metal hoops? What's going on? So this is going to be our brand new
01:40
metal arbour. Okay. So it's going to go all the way down to the boardwalk and we're going to carry on
01:46
our lovely hedge. So we've planted the right on the left hand side. More hedge is going to go down
01:52
the other side and then we're going to train it all the way over. So it'll be a nice little secluded
01:56
tunnel. So yeah like a little secret tunnel for the kids to run through. And in the spring as well
02:01
it'll be full of blossom as well. So we'll add some more blossom too. Birds eye view we've got a little
02:05
hill. What's going on then? So the idea is that eventually when this is all covered in lovely
02:10
wildflower, the youngsters can basically get right in the eye view. Ah yeah of course.
02:14
So bring them a little bit closer to the wildflower. So we'll come down to that height of what our little
02:21
nipple will be. Perfect yeah. So them little bees will be buzzing away on there. Great idea. Right who've
02:28
we got guys? We've got Summer. Is that right? Yeah. And what's your names? Harvey and Amber. So you've
02:34
come all the way from Manchester, Old Trafford? Yeah. Cool. Have you been here before? Yeah. So it's
02:40
changing a bit isn't it? These triangle pyramids weren't here last time were they? No. And that
02:46
wasn't there last time. The fire pit. Yeah and there's a lot of trees planted. So what do you,
02:50
and the boardwalk at the back, what do you think of what you've seen then? Um it's really cool and
02:55
I think it's really positive changes. Good stuff. What about you matey? And I also think that all of this
03:02
stuff is better for nature. Yeah. Ah. Ah I've got you. Yeah you know what I didn't think about that.
03:11
Yeah might be a new home for them as well. So all around thumbs up yeah? Yeah. Cheers guys.
03:17
Well enjoy yourselves. Ta-da. How you doing? Is your name Melody? Yeah. Well that's a good name for
03:22
someone playing an instrument in the woods isn't it? That sounds beautiful. And what about these ones?
03:29
Do you want to come and show me what these ones do? Yeah. Go on let's hear them.
03:36
Ooh. Jingle jangle.
03:46
Nothing is to waste here does it Aaron at the National Trust? Nothing at all. Nothing at all.
03:50
What's this huge beech tree? Got a little story to it. Go on. Yeah so when we had that really bad weather
03:56
just before Christmas storm dara um we lost one of the one of the limbs bigger branch off the tree
04:02
um but it had a disease already that we knew about um which meant we basically have to speed up of
04:08
getting it down safely yeah um but we thought the best way we could sort of honor the tree is to leave
04:13
it where it was originally um but kids have been loving it climbing all over it perfect so this is kind
04:19
of the den building bit of the wood isn't it so yeah so this is all the natural woodland play yeah um so
04:25
all the play equipment is more towards that side towards the tree hide um but we've kept this
04:30
completely natural so kids can build dens run around climb on this big beautiful tree as well
