A care home branded inadequate where residents in Payne were left unanswered and used incontinence
00:06
pads were found in the garden will remain in special measures. The Care Quality Commission
00:11
has rated Stonedale Lodge in Croxteth as inadequate again following an unannounced inspection
00:17
back in November. The inspection aimed to see whether improvements ordered in July 2024 had
00:24
been made and to look into risks such as the lack of a registered manager. Advenia Care Homes
00:30
Limited, which runs Stonedale, said the safety and well-being of residents is its top priority.
00:36
Inspectors said relatives reported missing personal belongings and even though the home's
00:40
own systems raised concerns about finances, these were not investigated or passed on to
00:45
relevant agencies. The CQC said it's now starting the process of taking regulatory action if major
00:52
improvements are not made quickly. Karen Napton from the CQC said it was disappointing to see
00:57
not only a failure to improve but a worsening in some areas. She said people felt unsafe and staff
01:03
did not spot safeguarding concerns, leaving residents at risk of neglect and abuse. Relatives said they
01:09
were not told when their loved ones were injured or admitted to hospital and often had to hear
01:14
important updates from outside bodies like the council or NHS. Inspectors also found call bells going
01:21
unanswered when people were in pain and bed rail protectors not being used correctly. Medication
01:26
was not always stored or recorded properly and outdoor spaces were cluttered with cigarette butts,
01:31
incontinence pads and discarded PPE. Advenia said it was disappointed the report was based on a visit
01:37
over five months ago, adding that an improvement plan has been put in place with help from staff
01:43
and the local authority.
